It is only a convention that a "+" represents a space - it is not in the RFC. The correct thing to do is to encode the space with %20. Zope shoulddecode that all right. Cheers, Tom P

You do not need a hidden frame to submit the form. Say you have decided how you want to display the message. You can do something like this - <head> function displayMessage() {//show message ...} function upload() { displayMessage() document.yourform.submit() } </head> <body> ... <form name='yourform' action='....' encoding='...'> .... <input type='button' value='Upload File' onClick='upload()'> </form> ... </body> This leaves you with two things to work out - 1) How to display the message 2) How to cancel the message display. If you display the message within the page, it will automatically go away when the file finishes uploading. That takes care of 2) so that would be the easiest thing to do. You could - 1) Display the message in an iframe. 2) Display the message in a text input box. 3) Display the message in an existing element in the HTML page. 4) Display the message in a popup window and close it using the onUnload event when the upload finally finishes. If it were me, I would create a div element for the message and hide it using the CSS instruction display:none. I would use the DOM method getElementById() to get a reference to it and change the style to display:block when I wanted to show it. However, this will not work with older browsers (like NS4) or lynx. I would not care about that, but you may very well care. With lynx, you really cannot do much, but with NS4 yuu would just have to use a slightly different approach to locate the element you are interested in. My preferred approach should work in IE5+, Mozilla, NS6+, and (I think) Opera 7+. Obviously the browser needs to support the DOM, otherwise you have to go to browser-specific methods. That leads to the iframe. For browsers that support the iframe, you can just write into an element in the iframe using document.write(), or have it load a static page from the server. Zsql case insensative search

Hello all, I am attempting to make a case insensative search via sql and odbc. Everything works and the dtml sql tags are awesome for dynamic queries. However, I have run into one problem whan it comes to a case insensative search. In strait sql the search is pretty easy ie: select * from some_table where upper(field) like '%AVALUE%' Most of this works great via sqltest, the one exception is calling the upper sqlfunction on the field. I can't seem to find a way to do this. If I stop using the dtml sql tags then the sql method becomes much more complex. Any ideas are welcome. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? can a dtml-let work for this?

I'm moving from a frames layout to a css-p layout and I'm having a problem pushing a variable into the namespace. Here's my main dtml document: <html> <head> <dtml-var head> </head> <body> <dtml-var top_html-css> <dtml-var left_html-css> <dtml-let account_id="Accounts.get_account_ids(location_code=location_code, start=start)"> <dtml-var table> </dtml-let> </body> </html> The 3 dtml-var tags in the middle insert my css positioned div tags. 'Table' is my main content and the others are a header and navigation section. The table needs an account_id passed to it and I was hoping the dtml-let tag would work but it's apparently not making the variable available for use like I need. I get an error about account_id not being available unless I specifically pass it in through the url. Is there something I'm doing wrong or should I be approaching this from a completely different way? I've tried a couple of different methods, including a dtml-in and putting the dtml-let in the actual 'table' document and neither worked. Thanks, Aaron Kunkle

A ZEO 2, Zope 2.6.2 installation problem

I've seen bits and pieces of this discussed, but I haven't found an answer to this problem. We're trying to move to an installation with Zope 2.6.2 and ZEO 2. We currently run Zope 2.6.1b2 with Zeo 1. I've got a client and a ZEO installed, compiled as the user zope. If I start the ZEO with the following command: sudo -u zope python2 start.py -h xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx -p 7700 And start the client with the following: sudo -u zope /usr/bin/python2 $cwd/z2.py -D -a xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx -w 8080 -u zope I get a working Zope on port 8080. When I attempt to do the same thing on port 80, however, the Zope, of course, won't bind to port 80 because of permissions. If I start the Zope like this, however : /usr/bin/python2 $cwd/z2.py -D -a xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx -w 80 -u zope The debug shows the zope starting up fine, with no errors at all. But it won't let me get into the site via a Web browser. The Zope thinks it's OK, but it just spins when you make a request (and doesn't log a request to Z2.log) I've tried both the stable ZEO 2.0b3 on Zope.org as well as one from CVS that was recommended on the list a while back. Any ideas?

I need an example on how to use keywordindex. what is the code for an html form to fill it? how do I search with "or" and "and" in this index? I need some example as html form and simple script. external editor win-client: fatal error: unknown encoding: mbcs

hi all, i use the externaleditor product and its win client. when i try and externaledit a file, in most cases the client sais: fatal error: unknown encoding: mbcs (some files generate this error, others dont...even with the same content type...) which subsystem generates this encoding?
