When you run the module from the command prompt, in the Extensions directory, you are probably using your ordinary Python installation, and the Extensions directory will be on the Python path because it is the cwd when you launched Python. When you run from Zope, you use Zope's Python interpreter, which uses a different Python path, and Extensions may not be on it. When I run external methods, I always put all the real code in a package somewhere else, outside of the Zope directory tree, and add that location to Zope's Python path, usually using a *.pth file. The method in the Extensions directory just imports my package and then calls something in it, no more. This has always worked well for me and is easy to set up. Cheers, Tom P

Curious Problem

Hi, I have a python external method which reads from an external database, unpickles a class object, and concatenates some of the object's properties into a string which is returned by the external method. The class definition is included in the module. When I run it from the linux prompt in the Extensions directory it behaves exactly as it should. The class is successfully unpickled, the properties are read and the string is returned. However, when I set it up as an external method and call it I get the infamous: Error Type: SystemError Error Value: Failed to import class MyObject from module __main__ >From my perspective Zope should be 'blissfully unaware' of the existence of the class or the instantiation of the object. Since the object is only accessed in the external method, the module contains the class definition, and only a string is returned, why is this happening? What am I missing here? Well I did some more research: AHCM does _not_ work out of the box, at least not with Apache as cache in front. Setting the headers via a dtml-method indeed does. With AHCM there are headers set but these don't trigger the caching, the headers I set with DTML do the trick. Maybe it's just a simple glitch in AHCM? Question front up: Can anyone tell about how to write a general global procedure/function/object that is called every time when any object is delivered? I would use that to test functionality before later maybe putting it into AHCM. Any hint? redirect vs. return

We have a ZPT form and a python script to handle the data from the form. After some processing we return to the form with a return Form(data=data) Now we have <a name="x"> -links in the form and we would like to return to one of them. Is there any way to return with return, or do we have to use response.redirect()? -- paavo. Need help with acquisition

Hi there I want to override __of__ on a ObjectManager subclass to set an attribute on 'self' but I am having trouble with acquisition. After I've wrapped 'self' with ImplicitAcquisitionWrapper I still can't acquire objects higher up in the acquisition tree. It seems as if self is wrapped in the context of its parent but the parent remains unwrapped. def __of__(self, parent): w_self = ImplicitAcquisitionWrapper(aq_base(self), parent) w_self.x = w_self.acquired_object.function() return w_self I also tried overriding __getattr__ but then 'self' is also unwrapped and I don't think I can wrap it there anyway since I don't have access to its parent. how to copy file from zope's folder to server's directory

Zope not working!!

Help! I tried to start up my Zope server tonight (on Windows 98) with http://localhost:8080/manage and got thr login dialog, but when I enter my username and password, the server crashes (the machine keeps running). In the dos window where I started the server are errors which came from medusa/logger (lines 256, 86, 62, and 74), then I get a self.file.flush complaining about a bad file descriptor. I'm sad. Bummed. Baffeled. What's going on?? Thanks, --greg

SOAP again

Hi all: I'm a bit desperated... I'm trying to access zope with Soap (patched with the Petru Paler patch) and with SOAPpy-0.9.9. If I access to a method without parameters works fine, but when I try to pass arguments fails... Has anybody use SOAP with Zope successfully...? Temporary Folder in 2.6.0

Hi all: I'm not able to create a TemporaryFolder from my Product code. With Zope 2.5.0 all works fine, but when I try to use my Product with 2.6.0 and create a TemporaryFolder the next message appears: Zope Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource.
