Hi, Aim looking for somthing (mayby a product) which will allow me to query LDAP serwer. I'm not asking for authentication against LDAP serwer (i'm alrady doing this using LDAPUserFolder) but for a method which allows mi to query and manipulate objects in LDAP serwer from ZOPE (exactly from TAL using fe. some python scripts). The closest thing capable of doing this job is in my opinion the script LDAPUser.py and LDAPDelegate.py from LDAPUserFolder. Is there any other option more similar in use to the tandem of Z SQL Method and z MySQLDC? I don't know if at the present you can do such things without extra programming, but when I asked it long, long time ago (when I was starting with zope), the answer was to create a third index with the concatenated values of my keys. In your case: professor_name, course_number, and student_name. Of couse, you will have to limit the size of those fields and add white spaces at the end. Regards, Josef

help with dtml and sql---counting database rows with sql method

Hi, I am trying to count database rows in a table by using the following call to the sql method: <dtml-call counter> In my counter zsql method I pass in no parameters. My sql script is: SELECT count(*) FROM IWPLNCHK This query works outside of zope but returns an error that no column name is assigned to the value. So I name to the resultant column: SELECT count(*) as p2_count FROM IWPLNCHK which work in an sql test in zope but still does not output the count value to the calling page. How do I pass this value back and display it? thanks, Sean

Illegal character in content

I've been struggling with this error that I assumed was an illegal character in xml-rpc, but I went through the process of removing all the non-alphanumeric characters I could find... No Luck. I'm hoping someone else has seen this, and that I've just done something dumb. Any help would be greatly appreciated. zope 2.6.x, zcatalog and keyerrors

clear only one session var

Hi, This might be avery silly ques.. but how do I clear only one specific session variable?? Tried the followwing which didnt work: 1. REQUEST.SESSION.clear('var') 2. _.del REQUEST.SESSION['var'] 3. _.del REQUEST.SESSION.var 4. _.del( REQUEST.SESSION['var'] ) 5. _.del( REQUEST.SESSION.var ) Simply setting it to None wont work for me. I need to remove it from the session dict. Passing back from a Python script

Hi, What I'm trying to do is create a list of email addresses to send to based on entries in a form. My problem(s) are appending information to a dtml array, and passing back information from a python script. What I've been doing so far is: <dtml-if "User=='Bob'"><dtml-var "REQUEST.set('userlist',User)"></dtml-if>, but this has a serious limitation. The <dtml-var "REQUEST.set('this', that)"> sets the variable, but it overwrites what it is setting, so that I can't, say, add Bob based on one criteria and then add Bill based on another criteria. I'd like to be able to add the users (i.e. append another element onto the end of the userlist array), rather than set them, but I don't know if the code to do that exists. If anyone does, can you let me know? As an alternative to appending, I've been looking into getting a Python script to do a string.find and pass back the userlist information, but I'm unclear on how to pass the information back into the dtml-document. The dtml document has: <dtml-call expr="REQUEST.set('newvalue', string_find(User=User, username='Bob'))"> The python script has return string.find(username, User) I keep getting this error: Error Type: TypeError Error Value: expected a character buffer object Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? ZODB Cache Parameters

Hi How do I determine the best settings for the database Cache Parameters of a Zope installation. I operate a server receiving around 10 million hits per month, traffic is increasing by about 5% per month for a year now. I have noticed that performance is getting a bit slower lately and look into ways to optimise. I use Webalizer for stats and can provide more detail. Zope 2.3 Solaris 8 2 CPU Intel P2 about 450Mhz 1 GB of RAM Plenty of disk space Cheers Marc

Start a new thread from a request

I've got a Zope application that accepts some data from a user and uses it in an XML-RPC call to another server. The XML-RPC can take some itme, so I would like to put it into another thread and immediately return a page to the user. Zope Lockup (ZPublisher stops responding?)

Hello, I found refences to similar problems in the archives, and was wondering if any progress was made as to possible causes and solutions. The system: Zope 2.6.1 CMF 1.3 Apache 1.3 + mod_rewrite + mod_proxy The symptoms: Zope stops responding to HTTP requests Zope memory usage increases suddenly quite a bit The number of apache processes increases quite a bit also Can't kill Zope normally, need to do a -9 ... Once I restart it , all is back to normal. This happens once a week, sometimes more. As I saw in the archives, this would be due to a locking problem inside zope? One thing to note is that our site is 99% read-only, very few writes happen during a day, since we use the CMF features only for internal authoring of your site. I'd think this "locking" issue would be a problem when there's a read/write conflict, so I'm surprised to see it happen so often for us. Is my thinking flawed? On the other hand we might experience it a lot because of the high volume of traffic? Also, I use -t 5 ... I recall there was another value, in the code, one should change (ZODB connection pooling if I recall?) ... I haven't done that, so I'm going to go read up on that, but I'm wondering if these 2 values not playing nice with each other could be a cause of such behavior? I'll try wunnning the default 4 threads for a while too, see if that helps. Dieter, if you're reading this, you had mentionned you guys were also experiencing this ... Had a chance to look at it yet?
