Hi. I am trying to move a pdf file from a remote server onto a local Zope server. I have an external method that gets it from the remote server into /tmp and that part works fine. But I can't get it programmatically uploaded into Zope from there. It seems like every method I've tried to get a file object has given me a pointer inside the file instead. That, or I end up with a new object whose contents are only a string, such as the filename. Here's one version I tried. try: fyl=urllib.open(fromurl) folder.manage_addFile(filename, fyl, mime) except: return errormsg Part of the problem is that the files will be large binary pdf files, so I really want to avoid reading them out line by line. I'm on Red Hat Linux 7.2, Zope 2.5.0, python 2.1.2 I'd really appreciate your help on this. Actually my case it's really uncommon, but as you see it can happen: one of the users wanted to say that the dimmensions of something should be minor than 1 m, so he wrote "< 1 m". Then come that exception. One possible solution could be to convert all the "<" symbols to "<". But I was wondering if there is another way of dealing with this TaintedStrings (appart of disabling the check, off course). Regards, Josef

Python Script Error

A newbie question: mailhost

I tried to collect data from a form then mailed the data to a specific email address. When I tried to sent, I got this messages: -- Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Error Type: NameError Error Value: global name 'localzone' is not defined -- I had added a mailhost, specified the mail server, etc. Can anybody tell me what is the cause of this error, and how to solve it? The thing is that the PyXML package has some magic initialization code that causes modules in the _xmlplus directory to be found when scripts import from "xml", even though the package is physically named "_xmlplus". This allows the PyXML modules to effectively replace modules of the same name that come with the regular Python distribution. If you call the directory "xml", I am not to sure what will happen with regards to this magic initialization (I do not fully understand how it works), and so I am not sure if one can be know what modules will be imported from where. This may be more of a problem with Python 2.2 than with 2.1.3, I am not sure. It may be that the magic initialization script does not work right when the code is located in zope/lib/python (which I imagine was needed to put it on the Python path, which is set up a little differently from a stock Python distribution). So I would say that some more research is needed, and maybe some help from the PyXML group, before finalizing new instructions - which are obviously needed. Did you try to copy it into zope/lib/python as _xmlplus? If this works, it is exactly what should be done, and would be the easiest of all the various things that have been suggested. Cheers, Tom P

Just to get to some closure on this thread, it sounds like we have basic agreement, so the decision is that as of the Zope 2.7 release: - ZC will package and provide a source tarball - ZC will package and provide a win32 binary version (logs show that *lots* of people begin dabbling in Zope with this version) - ZC won't provide any other binary packages, but *will* link to versions produced by other packagers on the download page for a particular Zope version. External Editor and galeon/gnome2

I cannot get the newest galeon to use External Editor. Can anyone provide the steps involved in making it work? I have a headache from trying to deal with Gnome's file type thing. Any help would be appreciated. -Chris

Session transferring problem

Hi, I have a page with session data transferring through the URLs, so the page URLs in browser look like http://www.mysite.com/_ZopeId/84525053A0xJuPCpTSI/mydir/mydocument. Now, let's have DTML document called "content" inside the "mydocument" folder, which contains some "static" HTML data (this data cannot be DTML, because it needs to be editable with some WYSIWYG editor). Above these folders is some ZPT template called index_html, which will display the content data inside the some template. Let's have some link in the "mydocument/content" document, which is for example <a href="other_document">Link</a> . It is inside the content area and it is linked *relatively*, so I suppose it should maintain the session data (so the Zope's result URL would be http://www.mysite.com/_ZopeId/84525053A0xJuPCpTSI/mydir/other_document ). But the reality is bad - result URL is only http://www.mysite.com/mydir/other_document and the session data is lost. So, the question is, is there *any* way how to maintain URL sessions when linking relatively inside plain content (non-DTML and non-ZPT) document in Zope? Or, if not, how people use to solve this problem generally, when need to transfer non-cookie session data through static <a href="..."> URLs? Thanks for the answer, Lubos.
