Looking for variation of ExternalFile product

I'm looking for a product which allows me to manage files in zope which reside on the filesystem, and provide a natural way to be served from apache. As far as I see, none of LocalFS, ExternalFile, ExtFile provide a way to do that naturally - for instance by providing the 'precondition' property (to raise an appropriate redirect) or to allow an definable <a href="<something"> string to be rendered when called, analogous to the Image object. Is there something like that out there? thanks, oliver

How can I customize the propertysheet management interface?

Hi everybody. I have a ZClass with a propertysheet with a number of properties. I have created my own MyZClass_addForm and MyZClass_add in order to give users an interface to handle the creation of instances of MyZClass and the definition of the properties in the way I want them to do it. Now I would like to use a similar interface when the user needs to modify the properties, but I can not figure out how I can modify the .../propertysheets/my_propertysheet/manage page. manage_addProperty(...) failure on DTMLDocuments

Hi all: This is all on Zope-2.6.1 binary install on Linux. It seems that manage_addProperty() is not working propperly when indirectly applied to an instance of a DTMLDocument (case "A" below) whilst it works fine when an explicit instance od the DTMLDocument is used (case "B"). redirects & POST

I have a form that uses POST to transfer it's output because there is a lot of text and because I don't want it exposed on the command line. The form gets processed and then wants to return the same material, slightly modified, to the original form to repopulate. To do this I generally redirect to the original form with the variables appened as quote_plus() quoted name/value pairs in the usual GET format. Is there some way to use POST in this context? If it's significant, the form is embeded in a frameset. -dra

User friendly templates

I am looking for a templating mechanism that would: 1) Separate the template (�class�) from the instances (�objects�) 2) Separate content from presentation 3) Separate locked and editable areas 4) Present a user-friendly (possibly WYSIWYG) interface to the author 5) Be simple enough so that designers can start being productive in 5 minutes (1) For example, the designer can create a �Job Posting� template with 3 editable areas �Job Title�, �Job Description� and �Requirements�. Then an HR person can use the template to create multiple instances of �Job Posting�: �Network Engineer�, �Receptionist�, and so on. (2) The designer can modify the presentation of multiple instances by modifying the template only (3) and (4) The author gets access to the editable areas �in context� (5) The designer can use something simpler than ZPT. It can be as simple as defining �editable areas� in a page. Dreamweaver templates are a good example of what I would like to achieve. Once we agree on markers for the editable areas, adding new templates should be very simple. I am new to Zope, so I may miss something. Does what I have described above already exist? overwrite __getattr__

Hi I have a class that extends 'Folder' and in this class i have a property of type dictionary. This dictionary has the following meaning: key = property id, value = a value (string or whatever). I want to use the catalog to index and search for this kind of objects. For each property I have an index in catalog. Let's say the dictionary is {'field1' : 'value of field 1', 'field2': 'value of field2'}. I also have 2 indexes named 'field1' and 'field2'. The problem is that when the catalog tries to catalog my object doesn't find the properties 'field1' and 'field2' for my object !!! So, I overwrite __getattr__ to tell it how to handle these properties def __getattr__(self, name): if name=='field1': return self.dict['field1'] elif name=='field2': return self.dict['field2'] else: -- How do I tell him to execute the default ????? Redirect if SyntaxError

Hi! If you have a typo in your source while developing a python product, you only get a traceback in the log and zope uses the code from memory. It would be nice to get redirected to a page displaying the error. I tried to add a try ... except clause in the __init__.py of my product, but I can't get access to the request or response variable.
