Is there a way to have users add themselves to a role?

At the moment, I want to give my users the ability to choose whether or not they receive an email when a certain object type is published. The way I'm looking at doing this is to allow the user to choose whether they have a certain role or not. Naturally, these would be custom roles, but I want the user to decide (without my intervention) on if that person wants to have that role. Anyone have any ideas on doing this? Thanks! Hi there, I'd want to be able to create a file object (PDF) in the ZODB, which would be downloadable during say one hour or half an hour, and then which would disappear automatically. Is it possible ? If yes then how ? I've tried to create it in the temporary folder at ZODB's root, but it doesn't disappear (maybe I've done something wrong) I've searched the archives on zope.nipltd.com but without finding what I want. thanks in advance. Trees in ZPT and zpt_examples

Hi, (sorry for the cross-posting with zope-forums.org, I didn't realise that it doesn't post directly to this forum) I have been looking for a method to display a tree structure in ZPT, where the tree is built from simple, hierarchical data (rather than folderish objects). The tree_menu example looked the most promising but I can't seem to get it to work. I'm getting the following error... Request URL: http://linux3:8080/Examples/zpt_examples/tree_menu.pt Exception Type: IndexError Exception Value: string index out of range Does anyone know why this 'out of the box' example isn't working? I'm on Zope 2.6.1. Is this the best method in ZPT or is there a tree widget for ZPT (like dtml-tree)?? I would like to implement this tree widget under a Plone site. I was able to figure this out. Zope Link Checker

Hello! Does anyone know of a Zope Product that can report all broken links in a site? Or a python script that is easy to integrate. I found python scripts like "webchecker.py" and "linkchecker.py", but did not manage to integrate them directly into Zope. Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks for the help! Nic

Instead, your code modules can discover their own directory, and you can use relative paths from that. This works very well for external methods - if you put their code into a package so that __file__ can return something -- and it should be possible for products as well. Is there something similar to tal:replace that applies any markup in the object you are replacing the tag with? Example: -index_html- <html> <body> <span tal:replace="container/content"></span> </body </html> -content- <h1>Hello World</h1> produces this when I view: <h1>Hello World </h1>

SOLUTION: [Zope] import error - No module named iclass

I recently encountered the 'No module named iclass" problem when upgrading from Zope 2.5 to 2.6l, and discovered a nice, simple solution: 1) Export the troubled product as an XML file. (This worked for me in Zope 2.6 though Zope 2.6 woudn't otherwise touch it. You can, of course, downgrade, then export if it doesn't work under 2.6 for you.) 2) Load the XML export file into your favorite editor (I used xemacs), and search for the string "iclass". It will be found in a section that starts something like: <object> <klass> <global id="10712.92" name="Interface" module="Interface.iclass"/> </klass> 3) Delete the enclosting <object>...</object> section. 4) In the ZMI remove the troubled project, then import it from the modified file. For me, this process worked perfectly. -Greg

If you use processor set's you can exclude all other processes from running on the CPU, other than those processes that have been assigned to the set. Processor set's have really replaced pbind.
