Python 2.2.2 & Zope 2.6.1

Morning all, I was planning install Python 2.2.2 from source on RH Linux (2.4.19). and I'd like to use this instance of Python for Zope too. Can I compile Zope with the above version of Zope? Is it difficult (?) I'm also new to Linux? Where can I find more information to help me along (if the answer to the above 2 questions is 'yes' and 'no)? Thanks in advance. Regards, Samir.

Streaming Response

Hi, I would like to show status messages while calling a couple of functions from within a Python Script: While the script is running, I want to successively output messages like ------------------------ Doing this...ok Doing that...ok Done ------------------------ and then either redirect or display a button to move on. 1. I do _not_ want to use JavaScript 2. I do _not_ want to use the meta tag "refresh" I would like to use Response.write() to push my status messages on the fly. Since I don't know which function calls will succeed and which will fail, I do not know "Content-Length" in advance. Therefore, I would like to use a streaming/chunked response as specified in HTTP 1.1. How do I do this in Zope? I tried to do "response.setHeader('Content-Type', 'multipart/x-mixed-replace')" but couldn't get it working. (Also, it looks as if this will only work in Netscape but not IE. True?) I also tried to leave the header alone and just "Response.write()" the multipart content-type and its boundary and the content-type's of the parts, but ZPublisher just returned the plain text... I guess the answer lies somewhere in "Transfer-Encoding: chunked" but I can't figure out how to actually do it. :-) Maybe one of you guys working on HTTPResponse (Fred, Chris, Brian, Toby, Andreas) knows how to accomplish this? Help on upload images

Hello Zopist I need some help in uploading .gif & jpeg files to Postgresql. My current server is running Zope2.5.1 on RH8.0 with Postgresql7.2.2. I have create a simple form to capture some digital images for uploading to Zope server from my PC (WIn98). However I encounter an error message (below). The system is looking for the images in Zope server while the actual image for uploading resides in the PC. How I do "tell" the Zope the location of the image file? OS X problems?

Question for people using Mac OS X: I am experiencing some funny behaviours when using Mozilla/Netscape and Safari when trying to access Zope's management screens. Especially when accessing the root (http://www.mysite.com/manage) I often see the VIEW of the site root in the main pane of the management screen instead of the directory content. Also, with Safari, it looks like embedded content (sometimes even images, but quite consistently things like flash and audio) is not being delivered. Mozilla sometimes seem to "rewrite" management links on the fly, so that when I click on a file for editing, I get the VIEW instead. I was wondering if this is a problem of my machine's setup or if other Mac users experience similar problems. The only browser that behaves fine is IE. However I absolutely love Mozilla's tabs. I have only experienced any of these problems with Zope. (Zope 2.3 and 2.4 being used here.) Cheers Marc

XHTML and Zope

Hi! I've got a XHTML-Document with MathML. This document is static and should only be served by zope. The problem is, that in older versions than 2.6.0 it is working, but since this version the document my browser (mozilla) starts loading the document, shows the title and the stops without error. This is strange, because the document is valid and it works with an older version of zope. Is this a bug or did I do something wrong? Thanks Sebastian

But I can tell you the following: - it happened inside restrictedTraverse. I replaced that call with a quick, dirty and stupid iterative function using split + getattr, and the code worked well. - it was random. Sometimes the same call that worked fine a few seconds ago would hang the Zope server then. - right now, I cannot reproduce the error, even using the original restrictedTraverse call. Anyway, we changed our design and now we are using a single instance of a Product located at site root, so there is no need to access Zope from 'outside' the ZODB. I cannot tell what has changed in order to make this code work now. The database (FileStorage) was packed (and then we got some "Bad reference" errors); there were some __setstate__ methods not being called properly; some classes were improperly declared as descendants of both SimpleItem and Persistent; the machine running Zope was being used for other purposes at the same time (like CD recording). zope 2.6 book, when??

Does anybody know when the plone book for zope 2.6.x will be availale as pdf? Or will it be skipped (if zope 2.7 comes out before) bye
