Sharing session information between domains

Hi all, I have what I'm sure is the common predicament of having an SSL site with a different domain than the non-SSL site. In fact, I have several domains utilizing the same domain for SSL transactions. I need to figure out a way of sharing session information between two domains, such that the user can move relatively freely between the domains without losing any information. Just for an example of how this needs to work: user comes to site (session created, insecure) user adds product to shopping cart (insecure) user checks out (goes to secure site) user inputs payment info (secure) user remembers he forgot something, goes back to catalogue (insecure) user add another product to cart (insecure) user checks out, payment information already input (secure) user submits order (secure) The important part is that the users personal information is never transmitted insecurely, while the amount of information that is transmitted securely is kept to a minimum. This seems like a relatively common problem, so I would appreciate any help. Thanks for your time, Alec Munro EOA Scientific Systems

understanding hybrid products

Hello, I'm looking at the POPMail hybrid product and converting it to ZPT. In the meantime, I'm a bit puzzled with the relation between the attributes of a Python class and the attributes of a PropertySheet of a ZClass. The zope book (extending zope) is too short on this. Namely I've in a Python file (POP.py): class POPMailAccountBase: def __init__(self, user='noname', passwd='nopass', server='noserver'): self.user = user self.passwd = passwd self.server = server and a PropertySheet (server_authentication) of the ZClass (POPMailAccount): server: string user: string passwd: string Can someone explain (or point to some doc) how is one updated from the other? For instance, when I create an instance of a POPMailAccount, the Edit screen of the PropertySheet immediately appears with the values of the Python class attributes (like above). If I modify these values in the ZMI screen, I _suppose_ the attributes of the Python class get modified. I'm not sure this is actually happening, because I had to restart Zope and only then did the product seem to work (by retrieving the messages from the server which it had no found before). In the Zope book (Extending zope), an Help Topic is created using DTML. I don't see in no place of the ZMI a way to indicate this Help Topic is being done with a Page Template. Are there any plans to have Help Topics supporting Page Templates? Regards, Fernando

Hello, My web site accepts uploading of files without restriction of format. I would like to provide an alternative html version after they upload the file. I'm looking for a simple Zope product (no complex CMS stuff). Any recomendations (non-comercial, sorry)? Thanks, Fernando

product install problem (was Re: how to use LocalFS to expose F/S directory?

OK, thanks JCC -- then I don't have the LocalFS package installed correctly. The "LocalFS portal" is not something I saw, just that I thought I should see something in "Add" list - and now I know it should say "Local File System". On my /Control Panel/Products page in Zope I see a bunch of products that are installed and they each have a little "package" icon next to the checkbox - all package icons are of closed packages, but the LocalFS package icon is different - icon of an unwrapped, open package. Not really, the only reson you might want/need root is if you want it to listen on a port < 1024 ... (It uses 8080 by default) Otherwise, it's actually a good idea NOT to run it as root anyways ... I have redhat 7.1 server. i have zope 2.4 on it, i want to to intall zope 2.6.1 as another instance, can i do that? will it produce some problem? Thank. JP

Access Rule

I asked a similar question on the plone mailing list, so sorry guys for a repeat. I created an access rule in Plone, not the root and I need to find if a user is logged in. I was told that can't be done, but doesn't there have to be a something transferred between pages to tell if someone is logged in. A session variable set somewhere or something. I figured maybe this was more of a Zope thing than Plone. Thanks! Andrew R. Halko

zope:Japanese characters

Hello I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I'm trying to use ZOPE to maintain a Japanese site. I'm currently using a SONY VAIO with a japanese windows 2000 OS. I have an English version of ZOPE installed and running. I can type and cut/paste Japanese characters with no problem. However if I revist the same page all the Japanese character come out like this: クオリテック株 〒116-0013 東京都 荒川区西日暮里 2-19-4 たちばなビル８階 Is there something I can do to get Japanese characters to render correctly in ZOPE? Summing ZSQL Column Values

What is the most efficient method of iterating through ZSQL rows and displaying the sum of a specific column? For example, suppose my table looks like: ------------------ |Col1 |Col2 |Col3| ------------------ |13 |51 |90 | ------------------ |23 |45 |67 | ------------------ What's the best way to sum and display the values in Col1 using a Python Script or DTML Method?
