But if ih has replaced old with new, then lsof does not show any file, because original file (deleted) is still in use but is not visible (because is deleted). Dear all, I have forget to redhat (up to year back I make all under Redhat 5.2, 7.0, 7.3 - the best distros from RedHat). Now Iam using Mandrake 9.0/9.1 at all, on production server 9.1, IPcop, SNF or MNF at firewalls. I have uptime from my latest server installation into rack, upgrades are from mandrake updates automatically. So if you are not redhat fanatic, think about conversion ;-) Regards, JL.

How to restore Data.fs?

Dear List, I have a back up of Data.fs file. I took that from my server and want to put that in my machine. I newly installed my Zope server. Copied the Data.fs into /var/zope/var/ and restart the zope server but not able to access logged into the Zope management interface. I used the previously used user name and password (same as in the server) to access. But not able to access. Zope 2.6.2 on RH9

Anyone running production on the RH9 system with all the available upgrades and patches? I know there have been problems but rumour has it that it is now stable and playing well with Zope. Can anyone confirm from their direct experience? RH9 implements CPU affinity which may be useful for performance tuning in a SMP situation. Has anyone had experience with Zope using the new affinity calls in the 2.5 kernel?

Are there plans to put out a paper edition. I, for one, don't like reading documentation off screens... And the on-line book has a lot of new, useful material And Dieter, how's your book coming? The draft has proven very helpful--it would be nice to have a printed version.

I am pleased to announce the final release of TextIndexNG 2.0. What's new in TextIndexNG 2.0? - Relevance ranking of search results added. Searches are now ranked using an extended cosine measure. The cosine measure is based on a vector model and calculates the document "score" based on the frequency of the query terms inside the document result set. - Much faster phrase/near search: the old implementation of TextIndexNG had to perform a very expensive job at query time when phrase/near search was performed. Re-using the !WidCode module of !ZCTextIndex made this operation less expensive. - Left-truncation added: TextIndexNG can be configured creation-time time to support left-truncation (means you can search for "*suffix") - optional auto-expansion support: This optional feature also to get better search results when some of the query terms could not be found. The index expands a query term "foo" to "foo*" if there was no hit for "foo". This expansion is currently global for the index. This feature will be available on a per-query basis in a later version. (Auto-expansion will be extended in a later version to search for similar terms) - improved HTML converter: now using Chris Withers "Strip-o-Gram" module instead of the Strip-Tag-Parser - added converter for text/sgml - Similarity search (soundex, metaphone, doublemetaphone) dropped and replace with a more general approach and language indepedant approach using the Levenshtein distance. - internal code cleanup, more unittests - range searches like "Fi..Foo" - substring searches "*substring*" - reduced conflict errors caused by the lexicon/storage implementation - no longer conflicts with TextIndex V 1 installations Download: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=50052 http://www.zope.org/Members/ajung/TextIndexNG/ Project Wiki: http://www.zope.org/Members/ajung/TextIndexNG/ Note: there are currently no binary packages available for the TextIndexNG extension modules. SQL abstraction layer for the ZopeDB ?

I realize the zope database is not an relational database. Still I wonder if there exists a Database Adapter which emulates this. The point is, that I currently would like to use the Zope database for storing my data, but I would like to have the possibiliy to maybe later change to a relational database. This change would be much easier if there existed an Database Adaptor which stored the data in the zope database. Mvh Frode

escaping unicode in id

Hi all, has someone a quick&dirty recipe to clean-up/escape unicode chars (utf8) from strings to be used as object's id ? A simple encode('ascii') doesn't work if the string contains high chars. TIA, --peppo
