the usual incantation for creating an instance of a product is folderishobject.manage_addProduct['product name'].manageaddXXXXX( ...) I want to create programmatic instances of the ZUBB product which has a meta_type of 'ZUBB Folder' confirmed by looking at the code. The product seems to be properly installed, appears in the dropdown menu, and creates instances through the ZMI. Normal pages is 4-10x faster. Manytimes, zope under windows does not give me some images in design complex pages. So I am happy that I run Zope on Linux. Regards, JL.

Calling zsql from a page template

I'm missing some fairly basic syntax here, I'm sure, but the zsql chapter seems to only cover DTML. zsql_movienames is a zsql method returning simply a 'Name' column and requiring no arguments. I'm calling it thus: <table border="1" width="100%"> <tr> <th>Movie name</th> </tr> <tr tal:repeat="item zsql_movienames"> <td tal:content="item/Name">Some Movie Name</td> </tr> </table> But I'm getting Error Type: KeyError Error Value: zsql_movienames Any pointers to a doc that will cover what I'm trying to do? This is as elementary as it gets ... -roy

Check the Zope 2.7 wiki on dev.zope.org OK, I think I understood, you'll continue supporting 2.6.x till a stable version of 2.7.0 will be released, won't you? I was a little bit confused because in the past when Zope.org released a new branch they didn't continue developing the previous one and you should migrate to the new one in order to have the latest bug fixes and features. But now because of the impact of the new features, that's what I could guess, they decided to continue maintaining 2.6.x and improving 2.7.x till a stable version is released. So, it is better to continue using 2.6.x for production and 2.7.x for testing, isn't it? > for the new features in 2.7. Zope 2.6 is in the maintenance phase. That means 2.6.X will contain mostly bugfixes but no new features. RSS creation using Page Templates - can't use link?

Hi, I'm trying to make a simple RSS feed using Page Templates. <div tal:omit-tag="" tal:repeat="rec python:here.objectValues(['Folder'])"> <item tal:condition="exists:rec/this_is_news"> <guid isPermaLink="false" tal:content="rec/getId">423455</guid> <link tal:content="rec/absolute_url"></link> </item> </div> The moment I add in the link tag above, it gives an error: Compilation failed TAL.HTMLTALParser.EmptyTagError: Close tag </link> should be removed, at line 12, column 42 I can name that tag as, say url and all works. Any thoughts? Python 2.1.3 includes a fix to an issue that could cause crashes in Zope. Integrating Zope with the file system

Hi all, I want to integrate my Zope/Plone portal with files on the Lan. Does a product exist that: 1) Allows viewing/editing of (e.g.) Windows files w/out requiring that they be made Zope objects? 2) Does not have security holes since the files would be available via the Internet. 3) Provides text search capability, again, w/out requiring that they become Zope objects? Hi, I am using the following statements in order the filesize. file = container.REQUEST.form['FILE'] filesize = len(file.read()) When getting the size of large files it takes a long time to calculate. Is there another (fast) way to get the filesize in a python script ? Regards, Michael
