Thanks for the quick response Chris. My first comment is-My gawd: our estimates produced similar number though in a more primative fashion. Our estimate is a 6 month projection based upon conservitive estimates, if it flops it flops but we have divided our company up in such a fasion that it wont impact our other products and our income(hopefully: but not likely straight away with the money thing :-(. Akamai have provided a quote per gig of traffic that will severly reduce our overheads to a reasonable level and of course the server farm(9600 CDN). We are just trying to see if we can 'plug' zope into it because we have had such good luck/fun with it in the past. Unfortunately our server hit rate will be 100% with zero cache as each hit auotatically submits info to the database. No web pages are called. We will probly only recieve about 10 ~ 15 million hits a month for web page download(max). All sounds like doom and gloom but with slow uptake (6months) we should be able to include zope in the loop somewhere. It would be a shame not to... How can a method know if it was acquired?

Hi, I got a folderish python product with the following method: def SKU(self): """ Return our SKU for the catalog """ return self.sku The problem is that when objects contained in instances of this product are cataloged, they acquire the SKU method, so they also get the sku property. That is bad. So what I need is something like this: def SKU(self): """ Return our SKU for the catalog """ if (I was acquired): return None else: return self.sku But I can't figure out how to do that. Help? Can Zope handle 10 billion plus hits a day? while at the same time cramming info from these hits into a database(berkley db)? Ive got zope running on a mainframe and we are slowly approaching a point where one of our sites will be achieving such hits(less that 0.1kb per hit) ... Im just curioso.... MS Explorer Cache

Hello: I got a problem keeping Internet Explorer from returning values from the cache instead of getting the new values of external files being downloaded. Sometimes a "refresh" will get IE to get the new values, and somtimes I have to delete all temporary files. Does anybody know how IE to fix this? Is there a parameter in IE to say DONOT cache this site? Is there something I can do to the External Files to enfluence IE? Jerry Westrick

Thanks all so far. Sean/Charlie/Dylan. Sean: I found this also after i sent the post(i searched for "C zope" in google) and this looks like the answer. I will try it out tonight. Dylan: http://www.swig.org - seems to be a half solution as it makes C inerpreted(through python) which may defeat the purpose of using C (not including the rewriting of the C module into Python). That is if i understand it from my brief read. Zope DTML zSQL Select from Oracle insert into MS Access

Hi, I've been trying (rather unsuccessfully i might add) to select some data from an oracle table, and insert it into another MS Access table. I'm trying to do this via a dtml method and a couple of zSQL queries. Has anyone here found a good way of achieving this? I've been trying many variants... this is my latest... Using C with Zope and/or external methods

For starteres, have you looked at this? http://www-106.ibm.com/developerworks/library/l-pyzo.html You would need to write a C "python" module - that leveraged all your C code as a library, and compiled against the version of Python you are using; you could then use this within Python product or External method code. Own export: UnpickleableError

Hi! I want to pickle parts of my ZODB database and import it on a different system. Is it possible to use the pickle module? The first try results in: Error Type: UnpickleableError Error Value: Cannot pickle <extension class Acquisition.ImplicitAcquirerWrapper at 40225280> objects How can I ignore some parts in pickle.dump()?
