Testing for and/or avoiding acquisition

Hello. Probably a simple problem but one I can't seem to solve. I have a site with many folders and subfolders, no problem there. What I want to do is to use a file called 'content.html' to be parsed in each folder but that if there is no such file IN THAT FOLDER it uses a no-content.html' file acquired from 'root' level. Is it possible to check ONLY the container folder for the existence of the required 'content.html' file and if it does not exist to use the 'no-content.html' file from above? If so, how is it done? I'm using TAL rather than DTML and my brain is hurting from trying to sort this out!! I have RTFM but still can't seem to figure out the syntax. Help would be much appreciated! Thanks, Phil

I know that is impossible to cache all. short answer - if your requirements are simple, do it yourself. If your requirements are more complex, a) try & do it yourself, b) look at the Java web framework space for open source, c) get your company to pay for a product. Customisation will be a pain, no matter what route you take. I appreciate if someone can show me how to do calculations in DTML. I am having a problem with Total variable in the example below. TQ in advance. Directory traversal like zope in Apache?

OK, so I'm forced to use Apache when I'd rather use Zope :-) My question is (crossing fingers that someone else has run into this): Does anyone know of a way (other than using pcgi and Zope) to enable Zope-style directory traversals in Apache? This is the one that allows me to put a header_html file at the top level and any references further down the tree will traverse up until it finds a header_html file. I hope I'm not the only person to have needed something like this. I swear I've seen it before, but sadly, Google isn't helping today. -Peter
