According to zope.org there is a utility, uservfs, which allows you to mount Zope ftp service as a filesystem. Unfortuantely the links point to a dead project on SourceForge so I can't find anything about it. -- John

Zope Help System Broken?

If I enter the Zope Help System by clicking on the help link in the ZMI, then go to Zope Help - API Reference, and click on any link in that section, I get prompted for authentication, and eventually get this error: Error Type: Unauthorized Error Value: You are not allowed to access 'name' in this context I then have to reauthenticate in the ZMI the next time I click on a link. I am using Zope 2.7. Anyone know what is causing this?

I have the following setup Mandrake 9.2 Apache 2 Zope 2.7.0 Webmin 1.130 I am using webmin to apply the following rewrite rule. ---------- <VirtualHost dev.foo.com.au> ServerName dev.foo.com.au DocumentRoot /var/www RewriteEngine On RewriteLog "/var/log/httpd/rewrite_log" RewriteLogLevel 1 RewriteRule ^/(.*) / http://localhost:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/dev.foo:80/foo/VirtualHostRoot/$1 [L,P] </VirtualHost> ----------- In the file VHosts.conf When clicking apply in webmin i get the following error --------------- Failed to apply changes : Syntax error on line 54 of /etc/httpd/2.0/conf/vhosts/Vhosts.conf: RewriteRule: bad flag delimiters --------------- which is this line RewriteRule ^/(.*) / http://localhost:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/dev.foo:80/foo/VirtualHostRoot/$1 [L,P] can anyone tell me what is wrong with it? thank you -tim zegir

Zope and IIS and pcgi

Hello, I am quite new to Zope. I am to have both Zope (2.7.0) and IIS 5.0 on win2k server with Windows Challenge and Response Authentication. So I am just following http://www.zope.org/Members/brianh/iis_howto and stuck immediately on the point "2. Edit zope.pcgi; fix the paths,..." because I don't find anything that has to do with pcgi on the machine. There is no pcgi directory on the whole harddisk. Should have been pcgi automatically installed with the Windows installation of Zope-2.7.0, or do I have to install pcgi manually and where to get it for win2k server? Did we miss something during Zope installation? Thanks for help. Marko Faldix

Catalog reindexing: field by field or not?

I notice that when calling manage_reindexIndex with several indexes, it will simply call reindexIndex once for each index. The question is, is there a performace penalty for reindexing several fields separately like this, or will it always be faster to only reindex the relevant indexes? It seems to me that at some point it should be faster to just reindex the whole catalog, since that just traverses through the objects once... (This is Zope 2.6, btw, maybe it's changed in 2.7?) //Lennart

Newbie Acquisition Confusion

Hi everyone, I'm setting up a system for reviewing academic journals with a Zope front end. My client has asked me what would be involved to manage multiple journals on the system. It should be dead easy, but Zope's not behaving as I expect it to. Basically, I have the Python logic and ZPT presentation elements split up into folders (called "person", "manuscript", "review", etc.) within the "journal" folder (the root of the whole system). The style elements are in a folder called "skin"; the generic skin items are inside the "journal" folder to provide a default skin. The master page template is inside the skin folder. Also within the "journal" folder will be one or more folders for each journal, let's call them "abc" and "xyz". Each of these have their own SQL database connection and their own "skin" folders, to override the default appearance. It seems to me that the "skin" folder inside "abc" or "xyz" should override the "skin" folder inside the root, for every subfolder of "abc" or "xyz". But it doesn't -- except DIRECTLY inside "abc" or "xyz". http://server/journal/ <-- gets default presentation, as expected http://server/journal/abc <-- gets ABC presentation, as expected http://server/journal/abc/manuscript <-- gets DEFAULT presentation!!! I also tried altering the structure to eliminate the skins folder, making acquisition direct: http://server/journal/cover <-- gets the default cover image http://server/journal/abc/cover <-- gets the ABC cover image http://server/journal/abc/manuscript/cover <-- gets the DEFAULT cover image Am I doing something wrong here, or is this an ORB fault?
