Well that's the strange thing, I don't have a PYTHONPATH environment variable defined. Zope must have it's own PYTHONPATH defined somewhere but I haven't been able to find it. If I could find it, I'd just add my development directory to the path statement. I'm running Windows by the way. Still I'm curious if there are better ways to do this. Peter

exported root as backup now cannot access plone site to recover

Hi, Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. I'm new to zope and have been backing up by exporting the entire root folder - now I cannot recover the plone site contained within as when I import the .zexp the entire site comes in under a folder called zope. Inside this folder is the plone site but as it is now not in root it cannot function. I'm pretty desperate for some help - how can I extract the plone site from the entire site backup and place it back under root? I would be grateful for any help as a lot of people have been contributing to the site via cmfplone. Thanks Rhys

can't upload to zope on W2000

Hi, Probably a newbie question, but: I'm running the most recent non-compile install of zope on W2000. When I try to upload from my machine or another machine to zope (e.g. ftp://shuttle:8021) I get an authorisation error. I think that the specific code is 530 (away from my machine now). internet explorer problem

hi, I've got a problem with internet explorer for downloading file. The navigator doesn't find the file but the path is good. If i use mozilla, there is no problem .... This problem appairs since i have upgrade the version of zope from 2.4 to 2.6.4 Is there a propertie or something else for configuring zope ??? thanks

External modules and import

Hi everyone, I guess I'm back to asking simple questions. I've got an application running (finally) but it all resides in one big module called Externals.py that resides in c:\program files\website\Externals. I've gotten to the point where I need to separate the function into various modules but since I'm still a newbie, I've been having trouble doing it. I tried moving one simple class to a separate module called BarsDB. I then added a line "import BarsDB" to the top of the Externals.py module. I'm using Visual Python as my editor/debugger. Everything works fine from there but when I try to reload my external method (Externals.py), I get this error message; ImportError: No module named BarsDB Where do you define the Pythonpath for Zope? I know there's some funky stuff about the way Zope handles external modules. I don't really understand it and I think that's why I'm having trouble figuring this one out. Can anyone shed some light?

hello: so i have a very basic product. i would like after the __init__ is called and the object is created is to write its contents, id, title etc etc to a mysql database. lo-and-behold, there exists manage_addAfter(self, container=None, context=None). But, now the question becomes, how do i call a zsqlmethod from my method inside of my product? do i import ZSQLMethod and create one on the fly? Reusing the global namespace of a DTMLFile from a Python method...

CLIENT_HOME is not defined

Hi A Zope installation on my test system that has worked fine in the past suddenly gives me this error when starting: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/Volumes/Data/ssl_instances/demo/z2.py", line 546, in ? zdaemon.run(sys.argv, os.path.join(CLIENT_HOME, Zpid)) NameError: name 'CLIENT_HOME' is not defined Zope 2.4 Python 2.1.3 Mac OS X 10.3.2 I have run the installation procedures correctly and no errors came up. I have tried to set the CLIENT_HOME explicitly in the start script to the installations var directory. I have also tried to start Zope by directly call z2.py. All without success. I have then built a Zope 2.4 from scratch and get the same error without adding any custom Products or database. I have also installed Zope 2.6.2 on the test system and copied the database (Data.fs) of the problem installation to the newer Zope and there, all things work smoothly. However, in the problem installation, we're using a Zope product (bespoke application that the customer needs to be able to "add" through ZMI), which breaks under Zope 2.6 and the change I am trying to test is minor, so we don't want to upgrade the site and its products to 2.6 just yet. The customer runs this Zope on a Mac OS X server (10.3.?) for internal use only. I have not been able to replicate this problem on another OS (tried FreeBSD and Solaris8). Could it be a "Mac" thing? Can anyone point me to other things I could try? Cheers Marc

my Navigational Folders they default to folder_contents not view as required

Help I have implemented Zope-2.6.4 and Plone2 OS SuSE9.0 and when I create my Navigational Folders they default to folder_contents not view ie. http://www.mysite.org/contact/folder_contents. Any help would be appreiacted as this site is supposed to go live Friday 19th Feb. I have implemented Zope at my previous job ,and the only difference is that I am using Zope 2.6.3 as oppose to Zope 2.6.2 and CMF -1.4 instaed of CMF1.3 and CMFPlone-2.0RC instead of CMFPlone-1.05 So I will try the previous installs that functioned fine for me. setting Z_DEBUG_MODE

I'm a newbie running Zope 2.7.0 on Linux. I have some DTML problems and I'd like to get traceback information on. Using tcsh, I ran setenv Z_DEBUG_MODE 1 and then ran 'runzope' in the same window after verifying that Z_DEBUG_MODE is indeed set to 1. When I run my sample code, I get an error message in Zope that is shown at the end of this message. With Z_DEBUG_MODE set, I was expecting to get a traceback in the error message. My expectation was set from the chapter on debugging in the "Zope Bible". Questions: 1) Did I understance the Zope Bible correctly, i.e. the message below should have a traceback in it? 2) Did I do something wrong when setting up the environment? 3) The error message refers to an error log. I checked the log subdirectory in the directory where my zope instance appears and could not find meaningful information about this error there. Is there somewhere else to look? 4) If I misunderstood, how can I see a traceback? Thanks in advance for any help.
