LdapUserFolder 2.4 Authentication Woes

I'm in the midst of a hardware upgrade, which has precipitated some software upgrades since its a convenient time. I'm moving from: Zope 2.6.0/Python 2.1.3/LDAPUserFolder 2.3 to: Zope 2.7.4/Python 2.3.4/LDAPUserFolder 2.4 My problem is that LDAPUserSatellites don't seem to work. My process: First, I deleted the old LDAP folders and satellites, and recreated new ones. Aside from the new login name attribute, the folders were identical. (I've set Login Name, User ID, and RDN all to UID) I then created an acl_sattelite one folder down, and mapped a LDAP group to Manager. I then tried to log into the ZMI. It did not work, and the cache in the LDAP User Folder only showed my account with the authenticated and anonymous roles. So, I'd logged in fine, I just didn't get any Zope roles out of the deal, which is what the LDAP satellite was supposed to do, right? I then deleted the satellite, and copied the LDAP User Folder down to where the satellite was. I then mapped the same LDAP group to Manager in the User Folder I could then log into the ZMI ... My understanding of the process is that these two setups are logically equivalent, and as such something is not working the way its supposed to, which is why I'm bothering all you fine people. One more little puzzler: With LDAPUserFolder 2.3, when I log in the Cache shows all my LDAP Groups (and there are many) in the Roles field. In 2.4, it no longer does this. In the configuration that works above it did add Manager to my Roles field (as opposed to just Authenticated and Anonymous in the configuration that did not work). Is this reflecting just a change in the logic of the product (I could see why), or is this reflecting some facet of the problem I'm experiencing? Thanks, --- Edward J. The targeted architecture is : Apache2/mod_python/ZopeHandler <-> ZEO At startup Apache initialize a pool of child processes (the processes that handle requests). Each Apache child process starts a python interpreter (mod_python does it) which in turns initialize an embedded Zope instance. Child processes are reusable, so if you correclty set the pool in Apache, the python processes should live as long as Apache itself. Note that I am not an Apache/mod_python specialist. It's just that when I wanted to try running Zope with mod_python, I found on the web that apparently noone had done it before, and even that in odler versions of mod_python it was clearly stated that it was impossible to achieve. So I just decided to expose what I did to the community, to get feedback. My installation has now been running for 5 days, and I have still no issues, both browsing my site or using the ZMI. wget of a zope site

I am trying to use wget to make a static HTML copy of a Zope site. However, it seems that the 'view' files which contain the various views are incomplete. They seem to contain all the page formatting and all. However, the actual content (say, text in a document) is not there. They are not truncated. They are just not complete. Is it possible that that there is a tag or something that my browser is following to get this part of the content, and wget does not? I would have expected that the 'view' file would be sent complete from the zope server. Or? Or, maybe there is a better way to do this. Hi, As a result of the "Localizer question" thread, it appears that : + Localizer 1.0.1 needs Translation Service and does not need itools/iHotfix + Localizer 1.1.0 does not need Translation Service and needs itools/iHotfix Will there be some kind of documentation on "how to migrate" ? For example, personally, I use Localizer 1.0.1 in a CMF site, with TranslationService that define 2 different translation domains bound to 2 different MessageCatalog objects, in order to use i18n tags in ZPT. I need to configure the PHP gateway to excute my PHP codes.but cannot configure one correctly. After creating a PHP gateway object in Zope's root i gave the docroot property's path as "/srv/www/htdocs" which is document root for my apache server. but when i click on the view tab the following msg appears: "'/srv/www/htdocs' may not be a PHP-CGI program. The result from the program is empty(0 byte)." kindly help me.

"Fake" folder hiearchy

Hello, I have this site hiearchy, make it by Folders: - product - books - tapes Now, if somebody write to URL address like: http://mysite.com/product/books I get a template page from that folder. It's OK. But what I need is some dynamical handling of URL. I would like be able to handle URLs like: http://mysite.com/product/books/tarzan where tarzan is some key word for, which I get, dynamical query database (for example) and dynamical render page about Tarzan book. I dont want make folder hiearchy under "books" folder, because I have all books data in database... Is it possible do something like this? Thanks Michal
