This might be an FAQ but I wasn't able to find it when searching. How do I get access to the value of 'session-timeout-minutes' coming from etc/zope.conf in runtime Zope? My app knows when people log in. A good time to set HTTP_ACCEPT_LANGUAGE

My multilingo app now works with PlacelessTranslationService quite fine. If you change your browser setting with about:config you get the website in different languages. Neat! However, what if you're in an internet cafe in Kenya using a Zulu web browser and you want the pages to appear in English for example? One solution is to do this:: def __before_publishing_traverse__(self, object, REQUEST): lang = self.getUserCookieSettingLang(default='en') # 1. REQUEST.environ['HTTP_ACCEPT_LANGUAGE'] = lang # 1. Trust that this is my custom function for finding out # which language they really want to use when logged in. Problems with this approach: 1. It has to be done for every object I publish including images, css etc. 2. It feels slightly risky to change the REQUEST.environ object. Zope 2.9.5 -> 2.9.6 DateTime Change

Today I started testing Zope 2.9.6. After the upgrade I noticed that some calendar data generated from Oracle was wrong. After some investigation I found that Zope 2.9.6 seems to assign a timezone of GMT+0 when none is specified rather than using the server's timezone. For example, the following SQL query to an oracle database: select TO_DATE('12-13-2006 01:00','MM-DD-YYYY HH:MI') from dual Under 2.9.5 returns: 2006/12/13 01:00:00 US/Eastern Under 2.9.6 returns: 2006/12/13 01:00:00 GMT+0 There was clearly no time zone defined in the query, and it's the same Oracle server. Is this an intended change? We have hundreds of developers working independently within our system so it's not possible to adapt each application to account for this change. Any advice on moving to Zope 2.9.6? In the mean time I my try to back port specific bug fixes into 2.9.5. Thank you, -- Brian Brinegar Web Systems Developer Engineering Computer Network

Eric ~ Right you are! A ThinkPad R52. So I removed those environment variables, restarted the machine, invoked Zope, and. still got the same error, "No module named ImplPython". So I'm wondering: 1. Is it possible that you did anything else, anything beyond removing those variables, that might have brought about your success? 2. I had the same problem about the "No module named ImplPython" problem. After spending a couple of hours on it. I found out that the problem is to do with an default installation of Python 2.2 that comes with my ThinkPad. After I removed these two environment variables zope will start: TCL_LIBRARY=C:\IBMTOOLS\Python22\tcl\tcl8.4 TK_LIBRARY=C:\IBMTOOLS\Python22\tcl\tk8.4

Is there any way to turn off the publishing of external methods to the web in Zope?

I have an external method which uses eval(). I would like to prevent anyone from calling this method from inside a URL, e.g., myzopesite/myexternalmethod?myvar=deletemyfiles() Rather, I wish for only Zope objects such as Python Scripts to be able to call this external method. Is there any way to turn off the publishing of external methods to the web in Zope?

Which Products Folder?

Hi, I am very new to Zope, Zope is running fine, but I dont know the Products-Folder to copy new Products: zope 2.94 C:\Programme\CPS3.4.0-3\Zope\lib\python\Products C:\Programme\CPS3.4.0-3\Zope\skel\Products C:\Programme\Zope-2.9.4\lib\python\Products C:\Programme\Zope-2.9.4\skel\Products ZMI is working fine, nuxeo cps, too. Have I to create a new Folder somewhere, I want to add Products like calzope cpsgroupware? I have a similar problem with the Import folder. Which one is the right, just importing inside a folder of the ZMI? Resolving ConflictError

I've recently encountered my first ConflictError. I am hosting multiple sites in this ZODB, and each of them is using a LDAPLoginAdapter as an acl_users: Traceback (innermost last): Module Zope2.App.startup, line 167, in zpublisher_exception_hook</li> Module ZPublisher.Publish, line 120, in publish</li> Module Zope2.App.startup, line 233, in commit</li> Module transaction._manager, line 84, in commit</li> Module transaction._transaction, line 381, in commit</li> Module transaction._transaction, line 379, in commit</li> Module transaction._transaction, line 424, in _commitResources</li> Module ZODB.Connection, line 462, in commit</li> Module ZODB.Connection, line 495, in _commit</li> ConflictError: database conflict error (oid 0x013b3f, class Products.LDAPLoginAdapter.LDAPLoginAdapter.LDAPLoginAdapter) Once this error started occurring on one of the acl_users, I've now seen it on several of them. The websites are still useable, as this error only occurs several times per day, out of ~100s of requests. Searching on google, however, doesn't really give me too much insight into figuring out what my next step is. I'd obviously like to figure out what code is causing the ConflictError, and how I can get rid of it and/or fix the code that is causing it. I've read enough from google searching to familiarize myself with the fs* tools (fsrefs, fsdump), but I'm not sure where to go from there. Thanks in advance, John Ziniti

zope replication

Has anybody out there had any experience replicating (for the purpose of failover) zope databases, using Zope Replication Services or anything else? Is anyone familiar with the heartbeat, fake or ultramonkey tools? I’m just starting to look at these now and wanted to see what the experience of others was. I assume this is fairly common with Zope and Plone installations.
