It acquires these names from a lines property of the Zope folder Cheetah. (Cheetah is not just a folder name, it is also the name of a Python templating engine.) callUseCheetah then calls the Zope External Method useCheetah to render the output. The template engine Cheetah returns the rendered page to Zope which displays the names in the title of the page. URL referencing

Hello, I've got a script located in /wms/Ccp/Main/TeamLead/Scripts and it needs to reference a workflow object in /wms/Ccp/Main/Workflows/Ccp/ . Currently, we do this by issuing this line : wf = context.Workflows.Ccp.ccp_agro_article But everytime we run this, a username/password prompt comes up, and no matter what we enter (even if we use a Manager account), nothing works. I'm thinking maybe I should refer to the workflow object using a full-path approach. Question is, how ? Do I say : wf = wms.Ccp.Main.Workflows.Ccp.ccp_agro_article ? I tried it and got a global name 'wms' is not defined message. Hope somebody here could shed some light. Regards, Danny

Adjusting ZODB Pool Size

Hi! We have a very busy site that required zserver-threads to be bumped to 10. My understanding is DB connections (pool_size) is hardwired to 7, no "knob" to adjust, and it should match the number of zserver-threads. We do get warnings in the logs, so I should fix it. Create a "custom_zodb.py" and put in your Zope installation directory. Does that mean the zinstance or zeoinstance? The root, or the /etc of the zeoinstance/zinstance? How do I determine the cache_size setting? Right now the "Target number of objects in memory per cache 15000". TIA

zope/zeo on multiprocessor machines?

I've been told that zope is not set up to utilize the extra processing power of multiproc machines. I have a new intel x-serve with the dual-core dual-proc setup, and want to get the most I can out of zope. I've read a few articles that mention running more than one zope process as zeo clients sharing a single ZODB. What isn't mentioned is any additional seetup needed to ensure that each zeo client uses a separate processor. Is there any? Or is this automagically handled? Thanks in advance for any answers, Cris

debugging a wayward zope process

I have a zope server (2.7.4) that I maintain and every now and then the python process that's running zope goes heywire and eats all of the cpu resources and basically make my website stop responding. Does anyone have any clues as to how I can debug this problem? I'm not the best python coder but I do know how to use pdb. And I'm looking for sorta where and what pieces would be the best place to start putting the trace() bits. ... but really any sort of guidance would help... here's a small bit from ps auxwwww showing a bit of what I mean, but when it *really* goes heywire it just eats all of my cpu and causes the load to shoot up near the 50s (on a dual opteron 275 processor machine) USER PID %CPU %MEM VSZ RSS TTY STAT START TIME COMMAND zecms 4062 12.6 8.9 830640 718768 ? Key Error in Catalog Reindex

I am using zope 2.8.1. and am using the following dtml method to reindex the catalog: <dtml-let URL1=HTTP_REFERER> <dtml-call "Catalog.manage_catalogReindex(REQUEST, RESPONSE, URL1)"> <dtml-call expr="RESPONSE.redirect(URL1)"> </dtml-let> However, midway through the reindex, I am receiving the following error message: Traceback (innermost last): Module ZPublisher.Publish, line 113, in publish Module ZPublisher.mapply, line 88, in mapply Module ZPublisher.Publish, line 40, in call_object Module OFS.DTMLMethod, line 153, in __call__ - <DTMLMethod at /somepath/somedtmlmethod> - Physical Path: //somepath/somedtmlmethod KeyError: 'validate' I checked the zope source file here: Zope-2.8.1-final\lib\python\OFS\DTMLMethod.py and found the reference to the "validate" method in line 128: if self.__dict__.has_key('validate'): first_time_through = 0 else: self.__dict__['validate'] = security.DTMLValidate first_time_through = 1 try: My questions are these: a) what changes could I to the catalog to avoid this error in the future? (I have already cleared and rebuilt our catalog using the manage_catalogFind tab within the catalog). Are there certain object types that I should keep out of the catalog? Is the catalog getting too large, and maybe the reindex is taking too long to complete? b) are there any changes to the script \lib\python\OFS\DTMLMethod.py that I could make which would eliminate, or at least render this error message harmless? When this key error occurs, the catalog does not index fully, and so objects are left out of the catalog. Thanks for your advice. John T.

FW: Problem Starting Zope after Installation

Hi Zope ~ I just installed Zope 2.8.8 (version selected to match a server I'm developing for) on my Windows XP machine, using the instructions in the Zope Book (http://www.plope.com/Books/2_7Edition/InstallingZope.stx#0-0) and electing not to run it as a service. I can't get it to start - see the attached screen shot for the failure messages. ~ TIA ~ Ken

How to get modules that are called by external methods reloaded?

Subject says it sall. Only way I have found so far is to restart zope, and on a production server, that is not very popular. Takes about 10 minutes on ours.. Regards Gaute Amundsen
