Client Disconnected

Occasionally a client in our ZEO setup will lose it's connection to the ZEO Server. I suspect some user is trying to commit something that is taking excessively long, perhaps uploading a very large file. Anyway, when a client is disconnected should it not try to reconnect? The min-disconnect-poll and max-disconnect-poll are set to the default. It seems that the clients NEVER reconnect until Zope is restarted. Session Timeout Troubles

Hi, We're using Zope 2.8.8 with a bunch of client sites set up in various sub directories / databases. We're using ZEO for the database storage and a local zodb file for the temporary data. I've recently been asked to set the system to user sessions time out after 15 minutes of activity. I've changed the setting in our zope.conf file (the session timeout value) and restarted zope. However, if I open a page on the site that requires logon and log in, then leave the browser alone for 15 or 20 minutes or even an hour, when I click on a link, it doesn't force me to re-authenticate... it just works as normal. I'm hoping someone could tell me if there's other stuff I need to do to make the session time out and force reauthentication at the server level (rather than having to add code to every user site, as we have over 500 different ones and I'm not sure there's something common enough for me to hook into if I have to alter code on the sites themselves to enable this. It's okay if I get back a response that it can't be done, but I have to be able to provide my boss with a difinitive answer. http://www.zopelabs.com/cookbook/1073504990 In addition to the information on this page I have found that you can also run the following command at a (gdb) prompt to get a list of URLs being processed by the misbehaving thread: call PyRun_SimpleString("import string,sys,os,ZServer; sys.stdout=open('/tmp/urls','w',0); print string.join(map(lambda a:str(getattr(a,'env',{}).get('PATH_INFO','')), sys.modules['asyncore'].socket_map.values()), '\\n')") It's doing a bunch of stuff to try to format the file nicely into a file /tmp/urls, it can probably be simplified. There may also be an altogether better way of approaching it. Just thought I'd throw this in. Migrating to Zope 2.10.1 breaks unrestrictedTraverse

I'm trying to get an object by walking a path. Previously, I used baseobject.unrestrictedTraverse(path). Upon migrating to 2.10.1, though, doing the same thing often produces the following error: File "/usr/local/zenoss/Products/ZenModel/Organizer.py", line 148, in getOrganizer return self.getDmdRoot(self.dmdRootName).unrestrictedTraverse(path) File "usr/local/zenoss/lib/python/OFS/Traversable.py", line 259, in unrestrictedTraverse AttributeError: REQUEST The problem appears to be that the Traversable mixin assumes that self.REQUEST will be available; since we're calling it from outside Zope, though, there is no request. Any thoughts? Why was this changed, and is there an extant way to get the same result without just writing a simple method that walks the path? Thanks, Ian McCracken

ColdFusion, ASP, etc with Zope/Plone

I am implementing a new site using Zope/Plone. This site replaces an old one built in ColdFusion. The problem that I am having is that a portion of our site (Our customer login area) will need to remain on ColdFusion for a while. Is their a method to get most things to Zope/Plone but certain folders to go to ColdFusion. Example: http://www.domain.com/Customer should go to ColdFusion and actual files on the server everything else at http://www.domain.com should feed into Zope I am running Windows Server 2003, IIS6, EnfoldProxy, Latest version of Zope 2. I am very new to Zope and Plone, so any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. I'd like to sort the items in a folder by relevance, relevance being a property I've assigned. Allow import of whole filesystem class hierarchy?

My company has a Zope server that has no editing rights for external persons - only employees have management permissions. We also have a company-specific hierarchy of several hundred Python modules that I'd like to access from Zope. Rather than modifying each and every module as per the instructions in the "Security" chapter of the ZDG, is there a way to say "allow the import of any module inside this part of $PYTHONPATH"? Oh, for those curious: part of the reason for moving code from Zope Python scripts and into filesystem code is that my company has officially adopted Python as our new development platform for new projects. I'm cranking out thousands of lines of code, and the Windows guys are tweaking it to run under IronPython. The end goal is to have a library of code that runs under Unix, Windows, Mac, or wherever else we might want to explore, and then to write frontends to that library in whatever seems appropriate to the task. For example, new web apps will be written with Zope calling those modules. New GUI apps will be written with Visual Studio calling those modules. Yay Zope and Python!
