Re: [Zope] how to read xml file in a python script

Hi Andreas, Thanks for replying to me. I checked out the python documentation and I followed up with this good hands on article about parsing XML in Python (http://www.devarticles.com/art/1/383/3) In the article, they mention one way to parse xml using the sax parser by importing this module: from xml.sax import make_parser and using this command: parser.parse(open('playerStats.xml')) But when I try to do this in my zope python script, I get Error Value: import of "xml.sax" is unauthorized Also I read that the open command is not allowed in zope. And so I am afraid I am still stick with my original problem: I have an xml document under zope and I would like to parse it and extract its content with a python script. I would like to do this under the context of zope. I know there is lots of documentation on how to use xml under python. But how do I use read xml under zope? Is it different? Thanks again for any input pvu >From: Andreas Jung <lists(a)andreas-jung.com> >Reply-To: Andreas Jung <lists(a)andreas-jung.com> >To: vupt vupt <vuptme(a)hotmail.com>, zope(a)zope.org >Subject: Re: [Zope] how to read xml file in a python script >Date: Wed, 05 Nov 2003 14:32:19 +0100 > >Read the Python Library Reference. Linux distributions for Zope Servers
by Dennis Allison 05 Nov '03

05 Nov '03

The morning email brought a final announcement from RedHat announcing (again) that they will no longer be supplying a Linux distribution (they will be shipping their "Enterprise Edition" which has a longer release cycle and a much higher price tag). RH9 will be the last of the breed. I'm not excited about converting to the RH Enterprise distribution and so am beginning to shop around for a different, a possibly better, distribution--something stable, well integrated, complete, and with a rational release cycle, stable SMP support, and support for AMD Athlon and AMD-64 processors. There are a number of candidate--Suse, Mandrake, Debian, etc. Anyone care to document their experiences, good and bad? One of the nicest features of the RedHat system was/is the RedHat network which makes it possible to upgrade off the net quickly and easily. While it's not really a requirement, I would miss it if an equivalent service were not available.

RE: [Zope] Flash in zope

To the first two questions: Yes and Yes ! There is a FlashFile Product somewhere on Zope.org you might want to look at. As for the third question, I do it using the PARAM element under the OBJECT that embeds the movie in the page. There might be other ways, but this works fine for me. But then I'm not very knowledgeable in Flash, if by "variables" something more advanced, then I don't know (I'm guessing under CF5 or CFMX , flash integration is conciderable). When they are in the page can I pass variables to them? How is that done? Thanks for the help, Cam Brown I've stopped 86,149 spam messages. You can too! Re: zsyncer 0.5beta error (Paul Winkler)

>> I haven't seen this one... What version of Plone, and what exactly >> were you looking at when you got the error? the root of the plone >> site? sorry for the late answer. I was away from work... it works now!!!! I have installed plone version 1.0.5 with the default settings on the two machines, after that I added the folder ZSyncer (this time I installed version 0.5.0-pre12 instead of version beta10) to the directory ....plone/Zope/lib/python/Products/ I also used the patch at http://www.dieter.handshake.de/pyprojects/zope/#bct_sec_5.3 to be able to sync plone folders as well I restarted plone and added on the plone root a ZSyncer Object. here (ZSyncer object) I added the name and password of the admin to be able to access the data of the other machine. I also choosed the same types to be synced on both machines. On one machine I set up the destination and started the sync process: worked fine! the rekursive search mode is very usefull for me, since I want to set up a cronjob, that sycronizes the two machines (unfortunately people are adding content on both machines, thats why I have to run the cronjob on both machines). perl script: my plan is to set up the cmd manage_sync via http, get the answer and update the wanted items again via http. Paul, thanks a lot for your great job on Zsyncer. BTW: Paul, when to you plan to release version 0.5 of zsyncer? cheers, david.

Hi, I am a third year Officer Cadet studying at the Royal Military College of Science Shrivenham at Cranfield. I am doing my dissertation on Knowledge Based Management Systems and I am looking into the different types of software available for data, information and knowledge management at the moment. I was wondering if you could help me as I am trying to find out the following: 1:- What tasks it can do? 2:- What kind of applications is your package used for? 3:- How does your system do what it claims? I would be very grateful for any information you could give me. Emily Stevens
