apache rewrite virtual host URL-hiding
by Florian Konnertz 22 Jul '03

22 Jul '03

Hi all, I have a porb with rewrite - after modifying httpd.conf and restarting apache nothing happened so i wondered if the config was read at all... but of course it may be just a fault of my rewrite rule. - Please have a look: I want to do: http://openspirit.de should be forwarded to the zope folder "noo", located in (zope-root)/openspirit/noo/ of my Zope server. I can use regular URL-forwarding, URL-hiding and rewrite-rules to achieve this. - It should be possible in some way ;) Because it didn't work that easy as i expected it tried to do it in small steps, just copied my old and working virtual host entry: # current rule, works, forward von DynDNS -> IP <VirtualHost openspirit.homelinux.net> ServerName openspirit.homelinux.net ServerAlias openspirit.homelinux.net RewriteEngine on RewriteLogLevel 1 RewriteRule ^/(.*)$ http://coforum.org:9080/VirtualHostBase/http/openspirit.homelinux.net:80/op… [P] </VirtualHost> # new domain: http://openspirit.de, does not work; forwarding bzw. URL-hiding from a real hosting <VirtualHost openspirit.de> ServerName openspirit.de ServerAlias openspirit.de RewriteEngine on RewriteLogLevel 1 RewriteRule ^/(.*)$ http://coforum.org:9080/VirtualHostBase/http/openspirit.de:80/openspirit/Vi… [P] </VirtualHost> In both domain config menues i entered just the IP, so both adresses are analogues to each other: Maybe you alreday have an idea, how to do the complete thing - i would be so fair to use your solution unchanged ;-) Do i need URL-hiding in that case? IMO it's all possible with the ruels and i make the domain forwarded just to the IP. I guess URL-hiding is only for sites on free hosting serveices like geocities and so on, right? Have a nice day, Florian P.S. What's the difference between <VirtualHost openspirit.de> und ServerName openspirit.de Why is it there twice? -- Florian Konnertz --- http://www.florian-konnertz.de http://openspirit.homelinux.net/noowiki/FrontPage ZWiki about all topics, especially consciousness research and wisdom traditions

stuck with Zope version lock !!!
by Gilles Lenfant 22 Jul '03

22 Jul '03

Hi, I'm stuck committing work I made using a "version" object on a production site. I created a "version" object at the root of a Folder (site) and started creating new objects and changing others. After a satisfying result (working in context of that version), I saved the work done with that version. Strange results : * Modified objects still are locked on that version, and when leaving the version context, the old content replaced the modified one. * New objects created in the context of the version have disappeared when leaving the version (after saving changes !!). Those objects appear again when I join the version. As a result, the (public) site is buggy as all changes have not been committed. And I must "enter" that version as manager to see the (supposed to be commited) changes. Heeelp please (emergency) Many thanks in advance. My config : Zope 2.6.1/FreeBSD 4.8 --Gilles

SESSION
by Robert Jean 22 Jul '03

22 Jul '03

Hello, I was trying the following script given in the Zope Book 2.6 (I am running Zope 2.6 on Windows): ## Script (Python) "sessionTest" secs_per_day=24*60*60 session=context.REQUEST.SESSION if session.has_key('last view'): # The script has been viewed before, since the 'last view' # has been previously set in the session. then=session['last view'] now=context.ZopeTime() session['last view']=now # reset last view to now return 'Seconds since last view %.2f' % ((now - then) * secs_per_day) # The script hasn't been viewed before, since there's no 'last # view' in the session data. session['last view']=context.ZopeTime() return 'This is your first view' I get the following error: Error Type: KeyError Error Value: SESSION My session_data_manager has the following (default) setting: Place SESSION in REQUEST object as: SESSION Also, cookies are enabled. They are displayed when I do <dtml-var REQUEST>, but this snippet prints "not set" despite the fact that "foo" shows up among the cookies in DTML: if container.REQUEST.RESPONSE.cookies.has_key('foo'): print "set" else: print "not set" Any idea of what may be wrong? Accessing File Contents
by Tom Nichols 22 Jul '03

22 Jul '03

I have a Zope application that stores entries in Zope file objects. I know how to create the objects, storing text as the file's contents and know how to read and update the objects properties from a script called on the object. But, I don't know how to access or update the file's contents from such a script. So, I've stored all my data as properties. I'd appreciate help in accessing and updating the file object contents from a python script called on the object in Zope. Thanks, Tom Nichols tom(a)westlong.com

Blogging Framework...
by alan runyan 22 Jul '03

Hi. CMFWeblog is in development in 'the collective'. http://sf.net/projects/collective you can grab it from CVS. It needs testing but it appears to work just fine and Ingeniweb is cleaning up the code. It currently supports 3 APIs: MovableType, MetaWeblog, and Blogger. Since the blog entries are archetypes they can be stored in a RDBMS, has transforms to/from MSWord or other formats, and cuts down on the typical boilerplate Zope/CMF code needed (just define the schema ;-). There is a 'ArcheRecipes' module in http://sf.net/projects/archetypes which has a few examples. Currently there is a contest underway looking for interesting ways of using Archetypes. REQUIREMENTS: - RPCAuth (Released) - Archetypes (1.0beta2+) - CMF/Plone I'm CCing Kamon and Sidnei who are working on the code. The biggest obstacles that I know of before making a release is: - Testing from others - Cleaning up the code - Archetypes 1.0 release (hopefully by end of the month, but its currently stable and no significant changes should land before 1.0) cheers, ~runyaga

Odd behaviour with lexicons and ZCTextIndex

We have a site with the following structure: / `- foo |- lexicon `- bar (foo and bar are ZClasses) When I add the 'bar' under 'foo', and in 'bar's constructor, add a catalog to bar and a ZCTextIndex to the catalog with an external method[1], in 2.6.0 it works just fine, but with 2.6.1 I get the following error: Error Type: LookupError Error Value: Lexicon "lexicon" not found The end of the traceback looks like this: * Module Products.ZCatalog.ZCatalog, line 897, in addIndex * Module Products.ZCTextIndex.ZCTextIndex, line 78, in __init__ LookupError: Lexicon "lexicon" not found [1] the external method we use for adding ZCTextIndexes: def addZCTextIndex(context, id, field=''): extra = Extra() extra.index_type = 'Okapi BM25 Rank' extra.lexicon_id = 'lexicon' if field: extra.doc_attr = field if id: context.addIndex(id, 'ZCTextIndex', extra) -- paavo.
