Not the same representation, but > they represent the same time. a) Does that mean, that "1073242822" has nothing to do with the float representation of time.time() ? b) Does that mean, that "1073242822" is the same date + time as "2003/06/05 12:22:36.673 GMT+2" - it only has a different representation ? c) How can I convert the value "1073242822" to a "YYYY/MM/DD" value ? I tried: >>> time.ctime(1073242822) 'Sun Jan 04 20:00:22 2004' but this does not seem to be right in comparison to the metadata value (2003/06/05 12:22:36.673 GMT+2)... > > Is this DateTime index somehow useful (for searching?) in my catalog or should I throw 'em out ? > > It's useful of you want to do searching on dates and times, yes. Ah okay. Then, my next question is: how can I search for objects created on 2003/06/04 if I have to check agains values like "1073242822". Does the ZCatalog automatically transform input values like "2003/06/04" to these "10732..." values to search for objects ? thank you very much, lennart for clarification ! -nico ____________________________________________________________________________ Jetzt bei WEB.DE FreeMail anmelden = 1qm Regenwald schuetzen! Most FTP clients (WS_FTP, Fetch, etc), though, support persisting a user-preference to do passive transfers (single, client-initiated TCP control socket; there is no data connnection), which is reported to do okay through SSH TCP socket tunnels, though I have never tested this to Zope... Yes, that's right, but I also tried to pass a DateTime() instance and got the following: Python TimeStamp : DateTime.DateTime() DateIndex value : 1073242822 Metadata value : 2003/06/05 12:22:36.673 GMT+2 Is this DateTime index somehow useful (for searching?) in my catalog or should I throw 'em out ? -nico ______________________________________________________________________________ UNICEF bittet um Spenden fur die Kinder im Irak! are you going through the WebDAV source port (see z2.py documentation, option "-W")? if you try to retrieve that through the normal webserver port it can blow up. jens On Thursday, Jun 5, 2003, at 08:47 US/Eastern, Andreas Pakulat wrote: > On 05.Jun 2003 - 08:08:14, Jens Vagelpohl wrote: >>> got a problem here with webdav Access using cadaver. Magic behavior of DateIndex in a ZCatalog
by Nico Grubert 05 Jun '03

05 Jun '03

Hi there, I am developing a Zope Product in Python where I store my content objects in the ZODB. Furthermore, they are cataloged in a ZCatalog. The content objects have an attribute "creationdate" so I decided to add a DateIndex and a metadata column, both named "creationdate" in the ZCatalog. When I create a content object I was confused about the values the ZCatalog stores for the Index and for the metatype because the values differ from each other. I tried to pass different TimeStamps when a create a content object. Here is what I found out: Python TimeStamp : time.asctime() DateIndex value : 1073242818 Metadata value : Thu Jun 05 12:18:58 2003 Python TimeStamp : time.gmtime() DateIndex value : '' Metadata value : (2003, 6, 5, 10, 20, 6, 3, 156, 0) Python TimeStamp : time.localtime() DateIndex value : '' Metadata value : (2003, 6, 5, 12, 11, 13, 3, 156, 1) Python TimeStamp : time.time() DateIndex value : 1073242687 Metadata value : 1054807644.02 Python TimeStamp : DateTime.DateTime() DateIndex value : 1073242822 Metadata value : 2003/06/05 12:22:36.673 GMT+2 This shows the different values stored for the DateIndex and the Metadata column in the ZCatalog. I thought, these magic "1073242..." values stored for the DateIndex "creationdate" have something to do with the float value since the epoch (1970/01/01) which can be returned by time.time(). But the value of the DateIndex (1073242687) differs so much from the value of the metadata (1054807644.02). When I used time.time() one time it stored "1054807644.02" for the DateIndex, but this happened only once ! So, here are my questions: - Why does the DateIndex value differs so much from the metadata value ? - How can I search for content objects that are created at 2003/06/05 for instance ? - Which TimeStamp should I use when I create a content object ? My configuration: (Zope 2.6.0 (binary release, python 2.1, win32-x86), python 2.1.3, win32) Thank you in advance. regards, nico ____________________________________________________________________________ Jetzt bei WEB.DE FreeMail anmelden = 1qm Regenwald schuetzen! [OffTopic]Browser Specific Issue
by Shashank Ashtikar 05 Jun '03

Hi Everyone, This is not a Zope related question but I am posting it here since it is likely that some of you may have encountered it and solved it. So my apologies. I am working on a form where user is expected to browse the homes for a file and select the one he desires to be processed. I am using following statement to display the necessary control. <input type="File" name="file_name"> On IE when I use file_name I get complete path of the file which is exactly what I desire.but on GNU/Linux based Web Browsers like mozilla, galeon etc. only name of the file is returned. How can I get the complete path even on these browsers. The form is written entirely in dtml. I ve looked for answers via Google but I hv not had much luck so far. It is obvious from the question that I am lame at HTML. But please help/pointers anybody. Thanks in Advance Shashank

Squishdot and Zope 2.6.1
by Tom Scheidt 05 Jun '03

05 Jun '03

I'm using zope-2.6.1 and installed the latest version of Squishdot. Every time I try to post to a plain vanilla version of the Squishdot site I get an "Unauthorized" error. I was also prompted for a password when I would try to access the addPostingForm. I tried to alleviate it by setting the proxy to Anonymous, but it didn't work, so instead I removed the "suggest_author" and "suggest_email" code. Can anyone tell me how to let people post without having to create logins for them? Thanks in advance. ---------------------------- Tom Scheidt tscheidt(a)nyc.rr.com ----------------------------
