Management Screen will not load - manage_workspace
by AdvertisingDept 27 May '03

27 May '03

Zope 2.5.1 has been working happily for over six months. Suddenly when I login to localhost:8080/manage The content frame won't display and the page never finishes loading. Using Mozilla 1.21 for browser. Attempting to access any object/manage_workspace yields same - content frame never loads. However, If I access object/manage_main I successfully get the content frame. (without the zope top bar frame and without the navigation frame.) STUPID_LOG_FILE gives no errors. Has anyone experience with this and how to diagnose? thanks in advance.

Read the contents of a File object
by THerp＠apriori.de 27 May '03

Hi, everyone, I'd like to read lines from a File object to do a database import. My problem is to get the contents of the file; index_html seems to use the standard header and footer always. How can I get the contents of an ascii file properly? tia, Tobias -- (sorry for any unfriendly footer added automatically... please ignore it!) DirectoryStorage - no logon
by FNk 27 May '03

27 May '03

Hi all, I've been having some problems with DirectoryStorage. I've installed an instance of zope using the -u and -g switches (-u toto -g zope). I've installed DirectoryStorage and configured the custom_zodb file. I've dropped root privileges to start zope. I've followed all the procedure. At this stage all seemed to be working fine. Zope recognised DirectoryStorage and started properly. But when I try to logon (zope/manage) nothing happens. The request is sent, but then it just waits indefinitely. Did anyone have this problem? Any explanation as to why it reacts this way? Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Fnk.

response.redirect with mailto link
by Marie Robichon 27 May '03

27 May '03

Hi everyone, In an attempt to get prevent our email addresses from being harvested we would like our authors to add links in their texts like this: mailme?user=toto to a dtml method called mailme which has the following code : <dtml-call expr="RESPONSE.redirect('mailto:'+ user +'@mydomaine.fr')"> This way their mail software is opened and no email addresses are visible on our pages. However the link has to have a target="_blank" attribute, which opens an annoying blank page, so that the visitor can get back to the page he was viewing. Is their a better way to do this without launching into providing forms for the visitor to fill in etc. TIA Marie Robichon Web Task Force European Synchrotron Radiation Facility BP 220 38043 Grenoble Cedex France http://www.esrf.fr Tel: (33) 04 76 88 21 86 Fax: (33) 04 76 88 24 27

index_html always seems to exist
by martin f krafft 27 May '03

27 May '03

i have a python script doing the following: file = 'index_html' if not hasattr(context.aq_explicit, file): context.invokeFactory('Member Profile', id=file, title=file) in English: if the current folder does not have an object by the name of 'index_html', then generate a new 'Member Profile'. This works beautifully whenever file is set to something that's not 'index_html'; the file gets added if and only if there isn't one yet. However, in the case of index_html, it always seems to exist, even if there is no index_html in the current folder (and yes, I have verified that context is the right folder). What am I doing wrong? Thanks! -- martin; (greetings from the heart of the sun.) \____ echo mailto: !#^."<*>"|tr "<*> mailto:" net@madduck keyserver problems? http://keyserver.kjsl.com/~jharris/keyserver.html get my key here: http://madduck.net/me/gpg/publickey the reason that every major university maintains a department of mathematicsis is that it's cheaper than institutionalizing all those people.

Zope, FTP, and Remote Access Alternatives
by hpinson＠indepthl.com 27 May '03

27 May '03

Hi. An increasing number of our associates are experiencing NAT related FTP issues with Zope. A second emerging problem is a requirement in some environments to use SSH/Secure FTP for server access. We have not had good results in surmounting these issues, sometimes passive FTP is a solution, sometimes not, moving one side out of the firewall is not an option usually, and we cannot open a large hole in our firewall to open a randomly chosen data port (assuming I'm understanding the problem correctly). SSH/SFTP only seems to add to the complexity. We have had mixed results with WebDAV. The external Editor product works great, it is difficult to convince our Dreamweaver-centric developers even to try it. Are these issues being considered in upcoming versions of Zope? What about alternatives to FTP file access? Also, why do these NAT- realated problems not seem to be issues with standard FTP servers like proftpd or the MS FTP server, which we use for our static websites? Many questions... Any general thoughts on handling this would be appreciated. Thanks. Harlow Pinson Indepth Learning Email: hpinson(a)indepthl.com Web: http://www.indepthl.com Voice: 505-994-2135 FAX: 208-475-7678

FYI: Weekly Product Updates
by Maik Jablonski 27 May '03

Hi to all, how about a weekly mini-newsletter for product updates? Maybe it is helpful for tracking recent developments on products you have in use. Yes, I know, you can visit the download-page on Zope.org and see what has happened. But I like the idea of getting informed via email on a regulary basis about changes going on. Maybe others too...:) Cheers, Maik Product-Updates (2003/05/20 - 2003/05/27) DDBug Issue Tracker ------------------- Version: 2.0.0 a4 Creator: hiperlogica Updated: 2003/04/28 http://www.zope.org/Members/hiperlogica/DDBug Epoz - a cross-browser-wysiwyg-editor for Zope ---------------------------------------------- Version: 0.2.1 Creator: mjablonski Updated: 2003/05/23 http://www.zope.org/Members/mjablonski/Epoz Folder Indexer -------------- Version: 1.1 Creator: Ioan Updated: 2003/05/12 http://www.zope.org/Members/Ioan/FolderIndexer IssueManager ------------ Version: 0.8.13 Creator: morphex Updated: 2003/05/25 http://www.zope.org/Members/morphex/IssueManager KZMailman: Zope - Mailman integration ------------------------------------- Version: 0.1.0 Creator: khcarlso Updated: 2003/05/14 http://www.zope.org/Members/khcarlso/KZMailman My Media Manager ---------------- Version: 1.2rc1 Creator: gittew Updated: 2003/03/31 http://www.zope.org/Members/gittew/MyMediaManager PA Blog ------- Version: 1.4.1 Creator: rev_matt_y Updated: 2003/05/20 http://www.zope.org/Members/rev_matt_y/PA_Blog ProxyIndex ---------- Version: 1.0.0 Creator: k_vertigo Updated: 2003/04/30 http://www.zope.org/Members/k_vertigo/Products/ProxyIndex Revision Manager ---------------- Version: 1.3.1 Creator: philikon Updated: 2003/01/27 http://www.zope.org/Members/philikon/RevisionManager Silva ----- Version: 0.9.2a Creator: faassen Updated: 2003/02/24 http://www.zope.org/Members/faassen/Silva StartupScripts Product ---------------------- Version: 1.0.0 Creator: grahamd Updated: 2002/05/01 http://www.zope.org/Members/grahamd/StartupScripts XMLWidgets ---------- Version: 0.8.5 Creator: faassen Updated: 2002/08/19 http://www.zope.org/Members/faassen/XMLWidgets ZopeTestCase ------------ Version: 0.7.0 (Zope 2.4-2.6) Creator: shh Updated: 2003/05/25 http://www.zope.org/Members/shh/ZopeTestCase SQL2Form -------- Version: 20030523 Creator: karpati Updated: 2003/05/23 http://www.zope.org/Members/karpati/projects/sql2form Vitefait - Formulator and application ------------------------------------- Version: 2.0.4 Creator: jacques.adamski Updated: 2003/05/07 http://www.zope.org/Members/jacques.adamski/vitefait
