RE:Newbie: creating objects programmatically

Thanks to Dmitry and Maik, it works fine. So now I need to set the new ZTP contents to those of a model ZPT. Following Dmitry's advice, I read the ZPT source and figured I could do the following: instance.manage_addProduct['PageTemplates'].manage_addPageTemplate('index_html') instance['index_html'].write(instance.memberIndex.document_src(self)) but no, I get: Error Type: Unauthorized Error Value: You are not allowed to access document_src in this context I am logged in as 'manager'. I have tried: instance['index_html'].write(str(instance.memberIndex)) where memberIndex is a regular file and this works fine, but I want to use a model ZPT. Guidance needed, please! Richard (every step an adventure!)

Problem with send in ZClass
by Jamie White 14 May '03

14 May '03

I still need help with this I built a ZClass and I want to send an email if a certain property is missing, the script I am using to try to do this looks like this # Send an Email if draft == None: body="Content Provider " + AUTHENTICATED_USER.getUserName() + " has completed work on. Please review for publishing" context.MailHost.send(body, mto="jamie(a)brobus.net", mfrom="zope(a)brobus.net", subject="Content Done", encode=None) return body else: return "No Message" It works when I test it alone, but for some reason when it is run from the zclass zope says: Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Error Type: Unauthorized Error Value: You are not allowed to access send in this context I tried changing the proxy role on the script to manager but that didn't help. multi-column sort with ZCatalog
by Mark Nenadov 14 May '03

14 May '03

Hello all, I have a simple ZCatalog query with a sort_on and sort_order being passed to it. Is there any way I can do the sort on multiple columns? This seems like an important feature. I've heard that is not possible, but I'm wondering if I am just missing something/getting wrong info. I'm already looking into the Generic Sort External Method, but I'm wondering if there is some other way to do this? Thanks, ~Mark

search on multiple indexes
by Stephan Goeldi 14 May '03

14 May '03

Is it possible to search on multiple indexes at one time? The scenario is this: I have a simple text input field where I enter a word, e.g. 'house'. I would like to find all documents which contain the word 'house' either in the PrincipiaSearchSource -OR- in the title. ---------------------- Goeldi.com - eBusiness ---------------------- www.goeldi.com web(a)goeldi.com Fon +41-61-7330555 Fax +41-61-7330556 ----------------------

carriage returns and newlines entered into HTML form inputs
by AdvertisingDept 14 May '03

14 May '03

HTML Form contains a textarea inputs. Form submits data to MySQL database. User wants to enter distinct 'lines' into a textarea input box - such as a formatted mailing address. Street Address Suite / routing City, ST zipcode They press return at end of each line, and the textarea input box complies formatting the data on their screen. However, when I retrieve the data from the SQL database, the formatting / carriage returns are gone? Is this my imagination, or has it dropped the formatting characters? How do I pass/retain/interpret the returns? This is probably a simple NEW ZOPE USER issue, I just don't know how to phrase it when searching the list archives. Thanks in advance.

Local or not local roles?
by Marco Lazzeri 14 May '03

14 May '03

Hello! I was just surfing around into ZMI when into http://dual:27080/some_filename/manage_listLocalRoles i've found this: "To give a user extra roles when accessing this object (and ___its children___), select a user from the User list below, select the extra roles that should be given to that user from the Roles list." Are not local roles setted only in that exactly context? Why it says says "(and its children)"? Thank you, Marco Lazzeri

Thanks Dmitry >1) method document_src() requires no parameters (self is passed implicitly by python) >so you write >context.['index_html'].write(context.memberIndex.document_src()) I tried this and got the error message mentioned, so I tried again with the explicit 'self' - no go. >2) To create a page template with a content, you may pass it in constructor: >container.manage_addProduct['PageTemplates'],manage_addPageTemplaate('index_html', text=context.memberIndex.document_src()) This is certainly more elegant and I had spotted it in ZopePageTemplates.py but I wanted to go step by step. However, neither of the solutions works for me because I always get the 'Unauthorized' error message. With my limited experience, I don't know how to start debugging this. Can you help me again? regards Richard
