how to use the document object in a script
by Wim Bekker 13 May '03

13 May '03

Wrestling with the ZopeBook (ScriptingZope.stx), I'm trying to call a script from a DTML document to return eq the title for the document (as learning curve). The document has: <form action="myScript" method="POST> <input type="submit"> </form> The 'myScript' has: Return context.title The result is the title for the folder where the document is in. I'm expecting the title for the document itself. Context always seems to be the folder I'm working on. How do I get the object (document)? Wim

I have installed Zope on a Red Hat 9 server, set ownership of everything to myself, installed CMF and CMFPlone. I can start up (running as myself), and initially everything seems to be running fine. However, after clicking around a few spots on the /manage page or a test plone site everything grinds to a halt. The Z2.log shows no more requests, stupid.log (Error severity level = 0) shows no further entries besides the usual startup INFO(0) entries, the server doesn't respond any more. The only thing to do is to stop and start (from command line, killing process), and if that doesn't work I manually delete the temp files/lock files from the /opt/zope/var, and that does the trick. I installed basically the same deal on RH 8 on a different machine and it worked like a charm. Do you know of any incompatibilities with RH9? Do the downloaded binaries not work? Or is it some other problem entirely? Thanks in advance for your help, Anand -- Anand Hattiangadi <anand.hattiangadi(a)sun.com>

searching for a blank value
by Michael Havard 13 May '03

13 May '03

Okay I have my FieldIndexes set up to search by 4 fields. Searching works great unless you need to search for a blank field. Lets say I have a search where I need to find Field1='Test' Field2='Test' Field3='' Field4='' the search string looks like /search?Fields1=Test&Field2=Test&Field3=&Field4= The search would return all records where the first two fields matched PLUS the rest of the records that had any values at all. So I might get back records with a field list like: 1) 'Test' 'Test' 'Test' 'Test' 2) 'Test' 'Test' 'Test' '' 3) 'Test' 'Test' '' '' When all I really need is #3. I did a search through the ZOPE site and the only thing I could find in regards to this was an old ZOPE Collector item #2423 that talked about having broken searching blank FieldIndexes. Anyway to unbreak this? _________________________________________________________________ Protect your PC - get McAfee.com VirusScan Online http://clinic.mcafee.com/clinic/ibuy/campaign.asp?cid=3963

RE: [Zope] Editing p2.py

OK thanks guys...I will restart Zope... -----Original Message----- From: Passin, Tom [mailto:tpassin@mitretek.org] Sent: Montag, 12. Mai 2003 21:29 To: zope(a)zope.org Subject: RE: [Zope] Editing p2.py [TANNERT,CARSTEN ] > Is it possible to edit the z2.py script while zope is running, or do I have to stop and > restart zope, which would be the service in my case. Even if you could edit it while Zope is running, it would not be useful, because it is only invoked when Zope is started. You would have to restart Zope to use the changed file. I just installed Zope 2.6.1 from source on FreeBsd 4.x I do have the python stack fix. Using python 2.1.3. I'm caught trying to determine if the Structured Text product is now bundled and included with 2.6x I found a folder called lib/python/StructuredText I'm assuming this is the structured text product. However, when I go to add a new structured document -- its just not available. I've looked for every interation of the name I can think of.
