A proble with the external editor.

Hi all. First Thanks for Zope, it's and incredible piece of software. I'm a newbie on Zope but I'm very impressed about its posibilities. At this moment I have a problem trying to use the External Editor. I'm using Zope (specifically Plone) to put online TeXmacs documents. The idea is to define TeXmacs as the external editor for *.tm files. The thing goes fine the first tieme but after that the *.tm files (wich are plain text documents with tags "ala" TeX or HTML). The problem is the second time that the documento edited is opened again. Now the file is not rendered by TeXmacs as nativa *.tm files but instead is show as a *.tm.txt plain text file. How can I evite this? Please answer me with copy to my e-mail, because I have not suscribe this e-mail address to the zope mailing list. Thanks a lot, Offray

Zope, Zope 3 and Plone in Europython ( June 25-27, 2003 )

We are finally almost ready with the program for Zope-track in Europython and we can easily say that Europython 2003 will be amazing 3 days of Zope for sure! If we would have any more cool talks, it would be illegal. If you are interested about Zope 3, you will be glad to come, since Guido van Rossum is doing a state of Zope 3 talk on behalf of Jim Fulton. Other presentations will include presentations about through the web editing, functional tests and security certification for Zope 3. Ploners will be pleased to see Alexander Limi perform his State of Plone talk - and be amazed to see what new Benjamin Saller has to show for us with ArcheTypes. And soon to be Plone-programmers will enjoy Maik Röder's UML-models about Plone. At the same time we have also a whole bunch of other great CMS-systems to be shown: Nuxeo's CPS, Iuveno's Kontentor, Ikaaro, Infrae's Silva and Struktur's Icoya CMS. During the conference we also plan to have a CMS Roundtable discussions, on which we will discuss about all these different projects and see what there is in the future for all of us. And naturally we will have a lot of cool presentations about amazing products, like CMFCollectorNG, ex. Adaptable Storage - now Ape - and DirectoryStorage, Reflow and so on. Editing Question

I am just starting to play around with Zope, and one thing that I would like to do it to provide custom editing interfaces for a page. What I am thinking is (as an example) an article or paper that has say, a title, an abstract, a body and a few other components. I am thinking that DTML Documents are the way to go for these components. What I would like to do it put next to each section, an "edit" button, the onclick handler will set the content-editable proprety of the associated text block to true, and will reveal save and undo buttons. This, I have no trouble with, but what I cannot see how to do in Zope, is to have the save button post the new content to the DTML document that it belongs in. Is there a good solution to this? Accessing mxDateTime within python scripts

Hi all, I need several DateTime Funcion to create a mini-tutos system. So I tried to imort the mxDateTime libraries, but this doesn't work at all. from mx.DateTime import * results to You are not allowed to access DateTime in this context. Can anybody give me some advice how to handle with this, or are there other DateTime Function available in Python (I didn't find DateTime Function in the Python Docu) ? Hi, is it also possible to have an or clause in a dtml-if. The following didn't work: <dtml-if expr="_.has_key('nol') and nol=='root' or nol==''"> ... </dtml-if> How do I add an or to a dtml-if? Thanks in advence Erwin

Newbie: creating objects programmatically

I am building a small application based on the "Build a simple ZClass (CatalogAware, non-default Catalog, Folderish)" how-to, but entirely using ZPT - I don't want to learn dtml! The objectManager constructor works fine with the lines as follows: instance = container.Directory.createInObjectManager(request['id'], request) instance.manage_addDTMLMethod('index_html','',instance.def_index) When I try to replace the dtml with: instance.manage_addProduct['ZopePageTemplate'].manage_addZopePageTemplate('memberIndex.pt') I get:Error Type: AttributeError Error Value: ZopePageTemplate when creating an instance of the ObjectManager ZClass. I have read many of the how-tos available, including the DTML to ZPT Conversions and hacked a lot but I can't find my error. Can someone help me please? Regards

Re: Data loss after packing in Zope 2.6.1?

There are several bugs in the pack implementation in Zope 2.6.1, some of which could cause data loss. I fixex these bugs a couple of weeks ago, and sent a status report to the zodb-dev mailing list. I should have reported the resolution more widely, because the possibility for data loss is of interest to wider audience than reads the developer list. The technical summary I posted on zodb-dev is here: http://mail.zope.org/pipermail/zodb-dev/2003-May/004945.html The long and short of it is that we have a better test suite that provoked the known bugs in 2.6.1 pack. And we have a new pack implementation that fixes all those bugs. I had originally planned to leave Zope 2.6.x as it is, because the changes involved in the new pack are fairly significant and we only had one or two isolated reports of problems. Since several more people have reported problems, we've decided to add the new pack implementation to the Zope 2.6 release branch. We need people to test this code! If you have had problems with pack recently, it would be really helpful if you could run the new code on your database and verify that it fixes your specific problem. Jeremy

ZPT and ZClass

I'm trying to transition a site from DTML to ZPT. I have some ZClasses that I would like to use "as is" until I get a chance to rewrite them. When I try to display an object in a Page Template, it fails (the Zlcass instance is called "bubbles" and is a folderish object with a few properties and contains a Photo Here is what I try to make it work: Result is the page is rendered with nothing where the object should be. If I view the source of the rendered page I see <highlight at bubbles> where the object (a highlight named bubbles) should be. Then I tried: Result is: Error Type: NameError Error Value: global name 'caption' is not defined "Caption" is a property of the object. index_html is a DTML method Am I trying to do the impossible, or am I missing something?
