by Patel, Tejash 25 Mar '03

Guys, I am looking for a product that does the following: After loaded: When you create that product it will create a folder not and item. When you view that product you have a option to upload other types of content on to it. ie: html, dtml, pt and so on. I guess it similar to the ZMI option of add a product from the drop down list, I need to create a customize version of it. I guess, any help out there. Thanks

Re: [Zope] who is using webdav to build zope site?

Remeber to start zope with option: -W [portnumber] and connect with webdav this way: http://zopeserver.com:[portnumber]/folder and NOT the standard portnumber 8080 With Windows: I have only tried Dreamweaver, but it works fine (as long as you fiddle a littlte with something called "PUT_factory" (an external method which auto-creates the object-types you want)). also: Dreamweaver can not have filenames without ".html" or other filename endings (stupid, stupid, stupid). the locking-mechanism between dreamweaver and zope was not easy to figure out, put eventually, that also works ok (you have to remember to check in and out files). I'm going to test Golive the next couple of weeks. It may prove a better design-tool. BTW: use zope templates and not dtml-methods/documents. I have not, and I am starting to regret. Communicating between ZEO master and client over SSL?
by Jean Jordaan 25 Mar '03

25 Mar '03

Hi all We want a ZOE master storage at one site, and a ZEO client at a remote site. We want to secure the connection between the client and the server. The best I could think up so far, is to set up an ssh tunnel between the two sites, forwarding a port on the local machine to one on the remote machine. But I'm sure there must be a best practice on how this should be done. Could someone point me at a HOWTO? I've found Pound, and Infrae's http://www.infrae.com/products/silva/docs/SysAdmin/SquidNotes but these look like they refer to a cluster of ZEO nodes at *one* site. -- Jean Jordaan http://www.upfrontsystems.co.za

RE: [Zope] Evaluating Output of Scripts as HTML in DTML Pages

You should not be using Python to write markup. You should have Python compute and return parameters to a DTML method which would then constrcut the form you want. This division of labor will work much better, and be easier to understand and maintain, than getting Python to write the markup directly (which certainly can be done, but is best not done). For example, the Python script could return a dictionary of values, which your DTML method would insert into your form template. Cheers, Tom P

This is all done automatically. OK. Here goes. The form: ---------------------- <form method=post action=my_form_proc enctype="multipart/form-data"> ID: <input type=text name=IDValue><BR> Title: <input type=text name=TitleValue><BR> File: <input type=file name=FileData><BR> <input type=submit> </form> Product Method: my_form_proc --------------------------- def my_form_proc(self, IDValue, TitleValue, FileData, REQUEST=None): """ Allow user to add file """ context.manage_addProduct['OFSP'].manage_addFolder(IDValue) context[IDValue].manage_addProduct['OFSP'].manage_addFile( id=TitleValue, title='', file=FileData) if REQUEST: return self.some_interface(self, REQUEST) That's untested, but should get you most of the way there. Role and-ing, rather than or-ing?
by Etienne Labuschagne 25 Mar '03

25 Mar '03

Here is my scenario: I have a folder Acme in my portal (and many other companies' folders - see great ASCII art at the end of message ;). Only employees of Acme should be able to view Acme and all it's sub folders. So, I assign the View right to the User role in folder Acme. Now I must give all the employees of Acme the local role User to give them access to Acme's folder. So far, so good. Now I want users of the site to be able to pay a fee to get access to "special" resources. For instance, Johnny is given the local role User in the folder Acme (he is an employee), but also the global role, PaidUser as he paid for access to special resources. This should give him access to special resources in the public parts of the site AND special resources under Acme's folder. In the public parts (which is not a specific company's sub folder), I assign the View right to PaidUser in the public folder. I assign the View right to both User AND PaidUser in the special resources folder under Acme. My problem is that the folder will allow people with User role OR PaidUser role to view the folder, not people with User role AND PaidUser role. The only solution I see is the moment I upgrade Johnny from User to PaidUser, I must walk through the site and find all the folder where he has the local role User, then change that to PaidUser. This is quite a pain and doesn't feel like a great idea. Any better suggestions? Thanks Etienne ROOT ------ Acme ------ AcmeSpecial | | -----Public ------ Public Special | | -----Slacme ------- SlacmeSpecial Johnny is user on Acme, and PaidUser globally. I would like to mark AcmeSpecial's view right only for people with BOTH User AND SpecialUser, this doesn't seem possible in Zope's security model. PublicSpecial will only be marked as Viewable for PaidUser. So Johnny should be able to see: Acme, AcmeSpecial, Public, PublicSpecial, but not Slacme and SlacmeSpecial.

ALBERTAS AGEJEVAS: Locale Support and On-line Help We (Codeworks) were working on Zope3 as the need of our project asked. One thing we've done some work on was local authentication: we made the global security manager's getPrincipal() return a wrapped principal instead of a string, and fixed a bug or two. Also, I've done some renaming in zope.app.traversal as per SteveA's suggestion: now getPhysicalRoot, getPhysicalPath and locationAsUnicode are called simply getRoot, getPath and canonicalPath. Also we happened to interfere with branch merges of ZODB folks with a cunningly timed whitespace cleanup. <wink> R. DAVID MURRAY: Authentication Service optimization and polish I just started work on trying to define a new Field type which is pretty much entirely defined by a Schema. The idea is basically to allow a Field to represent a complex object defined by Schema defined sub-Fields, and allow for an automated way (Widget) to render a sub-form. I've just started, so I'm not even sure I'm headed in the right direction. My use case, by the way, is an "Address" Field. (In my application, the Address field will be backed by a database of Address objects implementing the IAddress schema.) Comments welcome.
