RE: [Zope] Evaluating Output of Scripts as HTML in DTML Pages
by Samir Mishra 25 Mar '03

25 Mar '03

BTW perhaps there's a better way to achieve this that I haven't considered, so please let me know. As for the (as yet non-existent) script I mention below - myParseDTML("3.4","Cheques in System", "RA3_4","NRA3_4", "TOT3_4") I was thinking I'd store a list (of lists) in the directory, where one of the elements of the list would be the above. Can I use an external method to generate the html? How? Thanks. -----Original Message----- From: Samir Mishra [mailto:SamirMishra@cbuae.gov.ae] Sent: Tuesday, March 25, 2003 12:17 To: 'zope(a)zope.org' Subject: [Zope] Evaluating Output of Scripts as HTML in DTML Pages Hello all, I'm not even sure where I can look for the answer to this problem. I have a SQL table with a large number of variables. I have a data entry form that uses the following logic about 30 times on a page - ---------------------------- <dtml-let a=RA3_4 b=NRA3_4 t=TOT3_4> <tr> <td /> <td>3.4</td> <td class="row-label"> <dtml-if "a+b==t"><span> <dtml-else><span class="error"> </dtml-if> Cheques in System</span></td> <td><input type="text" dir="rtl" name="RA3_4" value="<dtml-var a>" size="12" maxlength="12" /></td> <td><input type="text" dir="rtl" name="NRA3_4" value="<dtml-var b>" size="12" maxlength="12" /></td> <td><input type="text" dir="rtl" name="TOT3_4" value="<dtml-var t>" size="12" maxlength="12" /></td> </tr> </dtml-let> --------------------------- What I'd like to be able to do is create a Python script that returns the above, AND I need the DTML document to recognise it as part of the code. The above code snippet would be generated by a script, called as - myParseDTML("3.4","Cheques in System", "RA3_4","NRA3_4", "TOT3_4") This script would return the above code. My problem is, I can generate the above code, but it's not evaluated within a DTML Method. As a simple example, I have the following python script - ------------- """ script name - testScript """ text=""" <dtml-var standard_html_header> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> """ return text ------------- How do I get the return value of this script to actually display the above items in a DTML Method? (I hope I've explained this well) Thanks in advance. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Zipfile and dtml output for dynamic openoffice docs creation
by Luis Mariano Luporini 25 Mar '03

25 Mar '03

Hi list! I'm learning Zope and Python. I'm trying to generate an openoffice writer doc dynamically. I'm using a dtml method that, by now, has static content and outputs a xml oo writer friendly string (oo format compliant). I'd like to go through this procedure: 1) take the output of the dtml method and feed it into a python script, 2) in the script zip it (forcing something like content.xml to the name of the zipped string taken from 1), 3) and then generate the correct hearders to allow a user with a browser to download the zip file (indeed a sxw document). I've read through python docs and learnt a little about zipfile module, but the write function of a ZipeFile object expects a filename param that must refer to an existing filesystem file. Is it posible to get the output of 1 and generate a zipfile (preferably in memory, StringIO i think), compressing just the that output without the need to save it in the filesystem temporally? Thank in advance. Luis. PD: It's a great community out there. I really feel comfortable in this list.

Changing Objects properties
by Jens JB. Bjerre 24 Mar '03

24 Mar '03

Hi I have a newbee question. I have made a form in a DTMLMethod which i'm going to use, to change some properties in an object. I'm calling it with: http://site/theObjectToChange/theMethod - and that part is working fine. When I have changed the values, how can I "save" those changes to the object. Regards Jens Bjerre

Cachable objects
by Thierry FLORAC 24 Mar '03

24 Mar '03

Hi, I'd like to be able to cache several objects of my Zope site in a RAM cache manager. My questions are : - how can I make a class "cachable" ? - is it the whole objects that are cached, or just the result of their called methods ? - when a cached object is modified, is there any way to refresh it in the cache ? - and any other important points about caching that I should take care of... : Odesílatel: glxrd <glxrd(a)compuserve.de> : My users may have to upload a large number of files to Zope and they : would prefer to do so at once. You could use 1. FTL access 2. ZipFolder product (2) you will pack content and upload from ZMI. But aware, zipFolder does not unpack files >4MB, you need to define bigger constant in ZipFolder source to allow that. JL.

Setting default filename for download
by Andreas Tille 24 Mar '03

24 Mar '03

Hello, I want to offer some PDF documents for download by a script. I do this by response = container.REQUEST.RESPONSE pdf = <some code> name = <some reasonable name for this pdf> response.setHeader('Content-type', 'application/pdf' ) response.setHeader('Content-Length', len(pdf)) return pdf I just want to realize that the downloader gets a sane default name for the file to download which is stored in the variable "name" instead of just the name of the script which returns the pdf. How can I specify this? Kind regards Andreas. -- Mankind must put an end to war before war puts an end to mankind. John F. Kennedy

Hi, Is there a way to call products from index_html? I am looking to use ExtFile. The product is what I want but I want to avoid users having to log into the management interface. Can this be done? Newbie: Simple Formatting floats in DTML
by Ashley Lloyd 24 Mar '03

24 Mar '03

I know this is a very simple question, but after searching the zope site and lists I still have not found an answer. I need to format a great deal of floating point numbers for accountants to read, so need them using thousands_commas and if they are negative, display them in parentheses without the - sign. eg 1004 = 1,004.00; -25436345.74 = (25,436,345.74) I could write a python script to do this, but I thought there was probably a parameter, similar to thousands_commas, (like negative_brackets, say) that could to this for me. Can anyone confirm this either way? TIA Ashley _________________________________________________________________ It's fast, it's easy and it's free. newline in string arg to python script
by Lee Harr 24 Mar '03

24 Mar '03

Hi; # Python Script show_string # parameters: s='' print s print list(s) print [ord(c) for c in list(s)] return printed # end # dtml method: <dtml-var "show_string('what happens to my newlines?')"> # end This returns: what happens to my newlines? ['w', 'h', 'a', 't', ' ', 'h', 'a', 'p', 'p', 'e', 'n', 's', ' ', 't', 'o', ' ', 'm', 'y', ' ', 'n', 'e', 'w', 'l', 'i', 'n', 'e', 's', '?'] [119, 104, 97, 116, 32, 104, 97, 112, 112, 101, 110, 115, 32, 116, 111, 32, 109, 121, 32, 110, 101, 119, 108, 105, 110, 101, 115, 63] The newlines have been converted to spaces. How can I tell a space from a newline? My final goal is to inline some python code without having to use a bunch of    in each snippet. Anyone have a clue for me? :o) _________________________________________________________________ Protect your PC - get McAfee.com VirusScan Online http://clinic.mcafee.com/clinic/ibuy/campaign.asp?cid=3963
