Zope Book Help
by Bernard Golden 12 Feb '03

I am working through this book and have run into 2 problems. Problem 1: In chap 5 (zoo site), it calls for modifying the standard_html_header to put in a dtml method called navigation. I have done so. Navigation and the new standard_html_header work fine when called directly, but when I use the View tab in the ZopeZoo folder the modified standard_html_header does not get called. I have placed this project in a folder a couple of levels down from the root folder for organizational ease. I thought I understood that a method located in the current container (folder) would be found before the root level method and would therefore override default behavior. Problem 2: I have added the index_html method and it generally seems to be working, but does not replace the <dtml-var getId> with the proper information -- nothing is printed. Can anyone point me to how to correct these problems? Bernard Golden

| Odesílatel: Ben Avery <ben(a)thesite.org> | If you want to print the paragraphs separately, as a newspaper would, | then you need the text to already be split into those paragraphs. Bad news :( | look at structured text: | http://www.zope.org/Documentation/Articles/STX | http://www.zope.org/Members/millejoh/structuredText I use STX, of course. But already many thanks, J. Lukesh

How to split text into few parts?
by Jaroslav Lukesh 12 Feb '03

12 Feb '03

Hi all, does somebody know how to put text into balanced (or gradually unbalanced) columns, like printed newspapers has? Something like that: <dtml-let "sizing=get_size(filename)/3"> <table><tr><td> <dtml-var filename size=sizing> </td><td> <dtml-var filename sizefrom=sizing size=sizing> </td><td> <dtml-var filename sizefrom=sizing*2> </td></tr></table> </dtml-let> Nice, but <dtml-var filename size=300> does not help because it shows only first part of text. But what about other parts? Many thanks, J. Lukesh

Zlasses and icons
by Arjan Huijzer 12 Feb '03

Hello, I am working on a product that is created by using ZClasses. When I create an object in the ZMI no icon is shown. How can I add an icon to a ZClass that will be shown in the ZMI? If there is already some documentation out there, please point me to it. Thanks in advance! Arjan Huijzer __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Corrupt Data.fs after using version
by Stefan Loidl 12 Feb '03

12 Feb '03

Hi, in the last six month I had two times the problem, that after doing some changes in a version and then saving the version, my Data.fs was corrupt and some Zope objects were no more accessible. Each time I have been able to recover from the corrupt Data.fs by using a backup of my Data.fs and exporting/importing my application. Using fsrecover.py didn't help, because the changes I had done in the version were lost in the Data.fs output of fsrecover.py. The environment I use is: SuSE Linux 7.1 Zope 2.5.1 Python 2.1.3 To get more information why this problems occur I did some tests. I did a small change to one Zope object in a version and saved the version. Before this change fsrecover.py reported no problem, after the change I got the following error: ZODB.POSException.VersionLockError: ("'\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x000\\xa4'", '/Test/Test Version') I tried to do the same test with Zope 2.6.1, but fsrecover.py doesn't seem to work correctly in Zope 2.6.1, I only got a lot of error messages like these (before and after the change): __main__.ErrorFound: bad transaction length at 3018384 exceptions.TypeError: __init__() takes exactly 10 arguments (8 given) Any ideas? Thanks, Stefan

Perhaps you could try to publish ZCatalog as a module. Here is a how-to: http://www.zope.org/Members/Amos/ZPublisher Regards, Josef

How do I import packages/modules from Products?
by Sean K 12 Feb '03

12 Feb '03

Hi all, I want to make ZCatalog an attribute of a product. The product is a subclass of folder, and I could add a ZCatalog in the product's constructor with something like this object.manage_addProduct['ZCatalog'].manage_addZcatalog(id="zc1") however an attribute will not show up in the contents tab of the product and will not be tampered with. I have tried to import ZCatalog into my product, but a look at the path from my product shows that zope/lib/python/products is not in the path. I do not want to tamper with the path without advice - ie. is there security reasons for not adding products to the path? Is there another way of importing it (maybe a conveniance method) that will allow me to import it without manually changing the path? Thanks in advance Sean Kemplay __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Shopping - Send Flowers for Valentine's Day http://shopping.yahoo.com

ZCatalog: searching with OR
by Chris Beaven 12 Feb '03

12 Feb '03

Is there any way to seach a catalog for either column1 = 'something' OR column2 = 'something' ? searchResults(column1='something', column2='something') Only returns results when 'something' is in both column1 AND column2 I could combine 2 results but then they won't be weighted correctly... Have I got any other options?
