Zope DEBUG --- Help, somebody HELP!!!!!

Hello, my name is Arthur, and i am realy new in Zope :) the biggest problem that i have is a debug :( for example: DTML method can call 7 other DTML methods, sql script, python script -- but if one of them has a error i don't see information about file and line HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How do I mimic an HTTP post from a script

Hi I'm sure that this question has been answered before, but searching the archive for a couple of hours, I could not find it. Yes, I'm new to python. I am using Zope 2.4 on Solaris. I need to send the input from a HTML form to a remote server as an HTTP post, but I first need to validate the inputs and convert them into an XML-formatted string. I want to do this in a python script. (I'm fine doing the XML formatting.) The "remote" post is currently of a fire-and-forget nature, but in the future might be changed to contain a response (success/failure=>post again). Cheers Marc PS: I'd be glad for recommendations of any good in depth "teaching" books on Python. I have the library references, but they are a bit brief for the un-initiated. (a convert from PHP, where I knew how to do this)

ZSyncer over HTTPS via Apache

hi, I'm about to put a system into production, and will continue to update the live site with ZSyncer. But I can't seem to get it to work behind an Apache 1.3.27 server running HTTPS using rewite rules. This is Zope 2.6.0, with Python 2.1.3 running on Solaris 8. When I try to sync, I get the following error: ~~~ There was a problem with that comparison. Error: * ProtocolError * <ProtocolError for 195.194.49.2:443/ZSync_Global: 404 Not Found> Things to check: * Your destination ZSyncer is where it is meant to be. * The destination server is running and accessible. * The user "" has the right to access ZSyncer. * The password for "" is correct. ~~~ it uses the same username and password as the development server, so that's not the problem. And I know that the Zsyncer server is working, as I can connect to it over HTTP, bypassing the Apache server. This won't be possible when the service is made live. Could anyone suggest what the problem is, or a solution? TIA Ben Avery

Why don't you download "Zope-2.6.1-win32-x86.exe", try to overwrite the Data.fs* of the new installation and install the Products that you're using? This is driving me nuts! - unable to edit users

hi there - running zope on debian stable/woody i had this problem when i first installed zope - and think i fixed it by turning off caching. but it has reappeared on a test server i have running. i can create users - but when trying to edit them i get the following error message: Zope Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Error Type: AttributeError Error Value: name i would like to get to the bottom of this and fix it once and for all!!!! here is the trace in the page... - thanks for any help - kev bailey

xeon performance & GIL

Hi all, I've sent this query to c.l.python without any answer yet. I wondered if anyone here can either inform me or correct me. Basically, I was wondering if SMT (hyperthreading) in a Xeon gives similar (bad) performance characteristics to SMP in CPU-bound python apps? I am hoping not, because my guess is that a context switch between hyperthreads is considerably cheaper than an intra-CPU switch. But seeing as my knowledge of this area is fairly limited, I could be entirely wrong... seb

Hi, I've tried to update Zope2.6.0 to 2.6.1 with Zope-2.6.x-to-2.6.1-win32-x86.gz. But it seems that this file is corrupt or anything else. So I ma not able to update Zope. Trying to change the root of the tree using the name attribute of the dtml-tree tag

Hello. I am trying to change the root of the tree using a variable which is initialized using the REQUEST.set method. However, the root does not change and remains the default which in this case is the root folder. I have provided my code below. This code resides in a DTML method which is called when a form in a DTML document is submitted.
