by AM 12 Feb '03

I have kidn of asilly ques regarding sessions and scope. In my setup when a user logs in certain session variables are set up. Now if on a page down a certain path I do a SESSION.clear(), will it clear *everything* or just any session variables that I set up during that REQUEST. RE: [Zope] BTreeFolder2 question
by sean.upton＠uniontrib.com 12 Feb '03

If I understand correctly, I think the likelihood of the same id being chosen is very low; that said, I think the generateId() method is also designed to reduce likelihood of conflict errors (though not entirely eliminate) by having each thread or ZEO client likely writing to different buckets (thanks to random initial id per thread, plus sequential behavior afterward for so many ids). Old message from ZODB-Dev that might be useful (this is pre-BTreeFolder2, but I think we are discussing the same thing). http://mail.zope.org/pipermail/zodb-dev/2001-December/002046.html Sean -----Original Message----- From: Ruslan Spivak [mailto:alienoid@is.lg.ua] Sent: Tuesday, February 11, 2003 2:34 PM To: zope(a)zope.org Subject: [Zope] BTreeFolder2 question Hello, zope users! BTreeFolder2 has generateId method, what will be if two or more zeo clients try to to write to the same folder at the same time, will be uniqueness of ids guaranted? You may disregard my previous message. I have discovered that this works when using cookie based authentication but not with standard basic authentication. I guess I need to read the docs again to understand why. -mike > > Hi all, > > I have installed exUserFolder and am now trying to build a form to log > into the site. zope in production environments
by AM 11 Feb '03

11 Feb '03

Hi, After having to go through the process of setting up a couple of production servers using zope, I had a suggestion for some documentation regarding the abovementioned topic. Although there are lots of how-tos, documents and other resources regarding setting up zope in a production environment, they are spread out over a very large area. The members of this list are extremely helpful and do point ppl in the right direction as & when the need arises, but i would definitely like a central repository of such material presented in an organized manner (something like a chapter in the zope book). IMHO the questions it should address ( pls keep in mind there are resources answering these questions on the web - just not in one place ) 1. how to justify it all. 2. hardware consideration with explanations as to what and why ( possibly some recommendations/experience/reports - in my experience managers/clients seem to like those things ), especially in enterprise scale environments with clusters, NAS' etc. ( some performance reports would also be great ) 3. configuration options and gotchas explaining why and how 4. performace tweaking etc. I dont think I have covered all I would like to see, but this would be a great start. Problems closing down Zope.
by Colin Mackenzie 11 Feb '03

11 Feb '03

Hello, I hope you can help me with a small problem i'm having. I managed to stuff up the super user account in Zope and now i cannot access the root folder of my zope installation. I've created an emergency user but i'm having problems shutting down zope so that I can re-start it and use the emergency user to undo previous changes. As i have no root folder i can't access the control panel and i've been having problems using the De bug and Ctrl-C to shut down. Could you please give me a point in the right direction as to how i can overcome my situation Kind regards Colin Mackenzie DS+A Ltd 01793542444 07968 136277 This communication contains information which is confidential and may also be privileged. Traversing a Root Level Folder's Hierarchy
by Asad Habib 11 Feb '03

11 Feb '03

Hello. Does anyone know how to traverse a folder hierarchy in Zope? More specifically, I would like to add a property to all folder objects that lie beneath a root level folder-the only way to do this is to traverse the folder hierarchy that lies beneath this root level folder. Using the dtml-tree command allows me to go only one layer deep at a time and the same applies for the dtml-in command. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. -Asad __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Shopping - Send Flowers for Valentine's Day http://shopping.yahoo.com
