Hi, I just wanted to thank everyone who helped me. Not just me but also the people we're trying to help will be very gratefull! I'll keep the list up to date when I've finished the main part of the website for the St. John of God Hospital in Duayaw Nkwanta (Ghana). In order to raise the funds we need for our current project, it's important that a lot of people know what we're trying to achieve and how they too can help. Best regards, Yvon Breuer

Add ExternalFile using Forms
by John "Amazn" Hazen 23 Jul '02

23 Jul '02

Has anybody used the External File product created by arielpartners using purely forms? What I'd like to do is have a user create an image file that is stored as an external file and have information about the image stored into the mySQL database. The idea was to create a form that would gather information such as submitter, the name of the file to upload, title, caption, keywords, etc.. and have all of this information go into the mySQL database while at the same time creating an external file object using the product created by the arielpartners. My trouble is how do I use the external file product solely using forms? Is there any special labels I have to give each variable of the form fields? Also what is the method for adding an external file purely using forms? Right now I'm trying the following code to no avial: <form action="manage_addExtFile" method="post"> If anyone could provide any insight I'd appreciate it. Thanks, John Hazen

Web Solutions provider - using Zope ok?
by Fires Star 23 Jul '02

23 Jul '02

Hi, I am thinking of starting my own company providing web solutions - portal, Content Management, etc... Target market would be SME and enterprise that are cost-concious. In this over-crowded market, every other company seems to be able to offer anything under the sun. And a lot are choosing J2EE over here in South East Asia. To differentiate, I have to select a platform/solution that offers the competitive advantage such as rapid prototyping, fast development, flexibility to cater for changes, and cost-effective. All these which are lacking from my experience with the J2EE vendors so far... Which lead me to Zope - will it be able to provide these features? I am interested in Zope and will start to try it out soon. I'm impressed by the built-in GUI management interface. Can it fulfil the following enterprise demand too? - High-Availability and Load Balancing (ZEO?) - Support for creating user groups by functions, and assigning ACL, FAL (Feature Access List) to users - Integration of User Accounts authentication with NT Domain/LDAP/Netware etc. - Creating Workflows based on business logic - Report generation tools Regards, Firestar __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? by Peter Bengtsson 23 Jul '02

What I want is to be able to pretend that a certain folder exists when it doesn't. From a database of directory structures I would like to be able to build up fake folders that don't exist. So instead of http://host/directory?dir_id=345 I would like to have http://host/directory/Business/Entertainment/Music How do I go abouts doing this? --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Re: [Zope-dev] Date Time Problem

Do you an index named "date"? If so, is it a FieldIndex? I have also moved this to the Zope(a)zope.org list. Zope-dev(a)zope.org is for talking about the development *of* Zope, while Zope(a)zope.org is for talking about development *in* Zope. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sebastian Sippl" <sebastian(a)proceryon.at> To: <zope-dev(a)zope.org> Sent: Tuesday, July 23, 2002 9:09 AM Subject: [Zope-dev] Date Time Problem > Hi, > > another problem occured: > > I got the script working, which gives me certain values back from the > catalog. > But this Time thing still doesnt work ! > i have tried nearly everything. manage_afterAdd method
by Nico de Boer 23 Jul '02

23 Jul '02

Hi all, I'm working on a SiteNav product that creates Site Navigations for a website. At initialization I need an initlevel, so the product knows at which level it lives. I'm trying to do this with manage_afterAdd, but it isn't really working. Can somebody tell me what I am doing wrong? def manage_addSiteNav(self, id, title=''): """Add a SiteNav to a folder.""" self._setObject(id, SiteNav(self, id, title)) if self.REQUEST is not None: return self.manage_main(self, self.REQUEST) def __init__(self, container, id, title=''): """initialise a new instance of SiteNav""" self.id = id self.title = title self.initlevel = self.manage_afterAdd(self, container) def manage_afterAdd(self, parent, container): """is supposed to return the correct initlevel""" initlevel = 0 while 1: if hasattr(parent,'aq_parent'): parent=parent.aq_parent initlevel = initlevel + 1 else: break return initlevel - 1 As you can see manage_afterAdd has to return the correct initlevel. But when I install my product I get initlevel -1. How can I get the initlevel at the correct value with manage_afterAdd? Or are there other possibilities here? Greetz Nico

so many zope books - which is prefered?
by D Walker 23 Jul '02

23 Jul '02

Hello all - my last visit to Amazon revealed several books on Zope. "the zope bible" - Robertson and Bernstein "zope web application construction kit" - Brockman "the book of zope" - Beehive "the zope book" - Latteier and Pelletier "the zope developers handbook" - Rowell "zope web app development & content mgmnt." - Spinklemire I'm sure that they are all fine publications. But I can only buy one or two. The Beehive book was rated highest by Amazon. Are some of these books considered better than the others by the community? Is there a book review forum or book discussion newsletter? all feedback appreciated - Thanks - David withpzaz(a)excite.com ------------------------------------------------ Join Excite! - http://www.excite.com The most personalized portal on the Web!
