ZCatalog of Folder vs dtml method or ZPT
by hpinson＠indepthl.com 27 May '02

27 May '02

I am experiencing this problem with my ZCatalog... The website is made up of folders, dtml methods, and page templates, using a standard_html_header and standard_html_footer and index_html document. In a ZSearch Interfaced report: Link to a ZCatalogged folder-- the page and inhereted content is returned (like the standard_html_header and standard_html_footer). This is desirable behaviour. Link to a ZCatalogged dtml method or page template-- the page only is returned with no inherited content (i.e. no standard_html_header and standard_html_footer). This is not desirable behaviour. How can I have both-- the page, and the inherited header and footer content appear when the link is clicked in the ZSearch Interface report? (Sorry for previous HTML message, /"!%/$?$& Outlook...) I just read Unit testing chapter of the excellent "Dive into python" book. (www.diveintopython.org) I know that Zope 3 development use Unit Testing modules extensibly. I wonder if anyone use Unit Testing for Zope 2.x product development? Any advices or insights? Wich modules do I need to import, path setting, etc.?

ZSQLMethods inside products
by Thierry Florac 27 May '02

27 May '02

Hi... I'm looking for documentations, samples or tutorials about using temporary SQL objects into Python based products, because I'm new to Zope and can't get it to work. I've tried the following code : from Products.ZSQLMethods.SQL import SQL _v_sql = SQL (id='temp_sql', title='SQL Query', connection_id=self.connection, arguments='', template='select count(*) from MYTABLE') return str(_v_sql()) but I can't get it to work because of an error message : "The database connection <connection> cannot be found.", with <connection> being replaced by the name of an existing database connection present into the acquisition path of the new instance of my product... Any help would be really appreciated... Thierry P.S. : please be kind to answer to this mail directly, because I had to unsubscribe from this mailing list... :-((

Re: [Zope] how to submit variables with an html

From: florian(a)fischer.tc > > i have a a question. > How do i submit more than one var. with an html-form? > >From your one-variable example, I assume what you want to do is submit values to a form via the GET method. <a href=theform?name1=value1&name2=value2&name2=value3> text </a> In the values, non-alphanumeric characters must be replaced by their hex equivalents (' ' => %20, '/'=%2F, etc) since there is no quoting convention.

using form for add and edit help please.
by Mark Lilly 27 May '02

Hi, I am trying to use the same for for adding and editing. If we are editing a record, i want to insert its value. If we are adding, i want to have a blank input text element. Instead of having two input elements for each form element, i have come up with this: <td class="add" valign="top"> <input type="hidden" name="prev_input_name" value="" /> <input type="text" name="input_name" id="input_name" tal:condition="exists:task/task_name | nothing" tal:attributes="value python:test(task, 'insert here', '')" /> </td> Here is the code that fills the task variable: <div tal:define="theTaskId request/task_id | string:0; task python:root.CT.Scripts.P_Scripts.getTask(theTaskId)"> If task_id = 0, the python script will return an empty list. Otherwise, it will return the 0th instance in the Catalog's collection. I can't figure out what to put in place of 'insert here' in the above Input element. I tried to use task/task_item but i get a NameError on global name 'task_item' is not defined. I tried getattr(task, 'task_name') but got an AttributeError on task_name. I can't define a variable using task/task_name, because if it's empty, it returns an error. Any thoughts on how i can pull this off? Thanks, mark
