May be a problem with ZClass
by Luis Martin Arganaraz 28 May '02

28 May '02

Hello everybody. My problem: I made a product with ZClass technology. I don't know why every time that I start Zope, an old version of my product appear. The unique information that I could find is in the file "stupid_log_file.log". This is: 2002-05-27T14:01:46 PROBLEM(100) ZODB Could not import class 'MixGraphClass' from module '*Z70QZ0TZA5T3p/X/EFDKrA==' Before this problem appear the product work fine, and if I re-import the newest version after a start, the product work fine too. So I don't have any idea of what is happening and how I could solve this situation. I didn't find anything in the newest version that didn't be in the older version that suggest me a "code error". Can someone give me any suggestion? Thanks, Martin

bad zope crash and won't restart
by Joshua Newman 28 May '02

I was trying to edit properties of a zclass from a python script with something like: proc=getattr(resFolder.Procedures, id) print proc.propertysheets.propertyIds() and I had a sudden freeze in my system which now won't restart. When I try it hangs (if I run the init.d script and here is the scary message I get when I >./start [root@imfpr Zope]# /usr/local/Zope/lib/python/ts_regex.py:15: DeprecationWarning: the regex module is deprecated; please use the re module import regex, regsub #, Sync /usr/local/Zope/lib/python2.1/regsub.py:15: DeprecationWarning: the regsub module is deprecated; please use re.sub() DeprecationWarning) and then it looks like there's a process running but no pages serve up. Please help. joshua

Serious problem: ConflictError
by Petter Enholm 28 May '02

28 May '02

Hi, As some of you might have seen I have had severe problems with my Data.fs today. Manged to resolve the problems by using the fsrecover.py. All the sties are up and running, but I cannot add any data. I get the following traceback trying to add a regular Folder at the root level. Is there a way to solve this problem ? This is a serious problem for me! I have tried a new recover but no errors are found and no bytes are removed during recovery. URGENT : site inaccessible when traffic is high
by Hamzat Kamal 28 May '02

28 May '02

Hi, I have 2 nested loops, where the outer one iterated over folders and the inner one iterated over the dtml documents in each folder. I noticed that when the traffic is high, the site become inaccessible. could the problem caused by the loops? <dtml-in "news.objectValues(['Folder'])"> <dtml-let number=sequence-number path=id> <dtml-if expr="number < _.int(num)"> <dtml-in "objectValues(['DTML Document'])"> <dtml-try> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('mm', ZopeTime().toZone('GMT+1').strftime('%d%m%y'))"> <dtml-let test=sequence-item> <dtml-if expr="mm==test"> <font face=arial size=-5> <dtml-var expr="_.getitem(mm,1)[0:400]">....<br> <a href="&dtml-ngrHome;news/&dtml-path;"> <img src="images/morex.gif" border="0" width="60" height="23"> </a><br> <dtml-if expr="number < _.int(num)-1"> <hr size="2" width="75%"> </dtml-if> </font> </dtml-if> </dtml-let> <dtml-except> </dtml-try> </dtml-in> </dtml-if> </dtml-let> </dtml-in> ===== Hamzat kamaldeen Ishola Dnet Systems Limited. 223 Ikorodu Road, Lagos. Re: [Zope] DTML or TAL
by Gregory Dudek 27 May '02

27 May '02

On DTML vs TAL perhaps like Chris I stick with DTML only since I learned it first, but I have other reasons: - TAL alone (without any DTML) doesn't give me the power and flexibility of DTML. - I also find TAL more cryptic than DTML, at least in some cases and particularly when I don't want to use a WSYIWYG editor. This obviously depends on what you know in advance. In short, I also prefer DTML.

Unit testing
by Jean-François Ménard 27 May '02

27 May '02

I just read "Unit testing" chapter of the excellent "Dive into Python" book. I know that Zope 3 development extensively use unit testing development. I wonder if anynone use unit testing for Zope 2.* product development? Any insights or advices?

Interesting namespace observation
by Roché Compaan 27 May '02

27 May '02

I have a method in the root of my application called "getProxies" that queries a catalog for a given metatype. I have a folder in the root called "Platforms" with a method called "selectInstance" that renders a series of checkbox tags. I call "selectInstance" method from an adjacent folder with <dtml-with Platforms> <dtml-var selectInstance> </dtml-with> This is how this method look at first: <dtml-let control_set="setControl(_, 'PlatformID')" control_name="control_set[0]" control_value="control_set[1]" control_type="'checkbox'" num_columns="3"> <dtml-in getProxies('Platform') sort="Name" prefix="platform"> <dtml-let item="platform_item.id" display_item="platform_item.Name"> <dtml-var inputTag> </dtml-let> </dtml-in> </dtml-let> Doing the above gives a key error for "getProxies", however if I move "getProxies" into the let tag it does _not_: <dtml-let control_set="setControl(_, 'PlatformID')" control_name="control_set[0]" control_value="control_set[1]" control_type="'checkbox'" num_columns="3" proxies="getProxies('Platform')"> <dtml-in proxies sort="Name"> <dtml-let item="id" display_item="Name"> <dtml-var inputTag> </dtml-let> </dtml-in> </dtml-let> It seems like <dtml-let> is doing something with the namespace that makes it impossible for the subsequent <dtml-in> tag to find the "getProxies" method in the root. Any ideas why? -- Roché Compaan Upfront Systems http://www.upfrontsystems.co.za
