Adding security to a new class method...
by Jeff Ross 28 May '02

I've written some code that programmatically adds a method to the ObjectManager class, but I want to secure my method so that not everyone can access it. How can I secure the method after the class has been registered? Thanks, Jeff

I used the function os.execv() in my script , but the function failed to execute because I was unauthorized. manage_edit and manage_upload Image object
by Nico de Boer 28 May '02

28 May '02

Hi all, I'm working on a product that uses Image.py as superclass. In the Image object are two seperate methods used: one for manage_edit and one for manage_upload. I want to merge the manage_upload method into my manage_edit method, so I don't need to use two seperate forms for my Edit form. I have a problem when I change the alignment of the object. When I now Save the Changes, the image data is lost. This is my manage_edit code: def manage_edit(self, file='', menu='', title='', subtitle='', lead='', body='', border='', align='', height='', width='', content_type='', precondition='', REQUEST=None): """ Edits content of the Ingezonden Mededeling """ self.menu = string.strip(menu) self.title = string.strip(title) self.subtitle = subtitle self.lead = string.strip(lead) self.body = string.strip(body) self.border = border self.align = align self.height = height self.width = width self.content_type = content_type self.precondition = precondition data, size = self._read_data(file) content_type=self._get_content_type(file, data, self.__name__, content_type) self.update_data(data, content_type, size) if precondition: self.precondition = str(precondition) elif self.precondition: del self.precondition if REQUEST: message= "Wijzigingen bewaard." return self.manage_main(self, REQUEST, manage_tabs_message=message) Can you check if there is any file data? I have tried this, but it doesn't work: if file is not None: data, size = self._read_data(file) content_type=self._get_content_type(file, data, self.__name__, content_type) self.update_data(data, content_type, size) Can someone help me, otherwise I have to split up the form. Thanks, Greetz Nico

dtml-tree and python help needed, please! (again)
by Igor Leturia 28 May '02

28 May '02

Hi! I wrote this same message some days ago, but I haven't received any answers and I'm quite desperate! I need to create a dtml-tree which obtains the branches from a python function. The best doc (well, the only one) I found is http://www.zope.org/Members/anthony/tree-coding-tricks , but I can't get to work the very same example the author writes there. I have tried two ways: a) writing his python code in a python script, but it says I can't define a class in a python script; b) writing his python code in an external method, but it keeps asking me for authentication and eventually says I have no authorization. Can anyone tell me what the problem is? Has anyone succeeded in doing this, that is to say, building a dtml-tree that obtains the branches from a python method? Thanks in advance, Igor Leturia _______________________________________________ Zope maillist - Zope(a)zope.org http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** (Related lists - http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev )

Dear chris, > Hamzat, > It'd be useful to be able to understand what this DTML is trying to > do... > it seems like you're just looping over objects trying to find one > with a > particular id. Is "num" passed in as a form variable -------- What the DTML does is to loop over the folders and DTML Documents in each folder, look for DTML Document which its id equal to variable mm and display part of the doc as well as setting path to the full doc. No, "num" get it value from a method which has been called above this extracted code below. > I also don't see > how the '<dtml-if "mm==test">' conditional could ever be true. I'm > sure > it works, but I'm not sure how. ;-) ------ yes, you are right but in the actual code that is running the object id is assign to test rather than the sequence-item as shown in the code below. What happened was that somebody advise that it is a serious programming error to have used 2 objectValues in the 2 loops that I should change the objectValues for the inner loop to objectIds, that it could be the cause of the problem. <dtml-in "objectValues(['DTML Document'])"> That was when i have to change the id to sequence-item. Can you please explain to me the effects of using objectValues and objectIds? > > In any case, I think you probably want to use a ZCatalog for this > kind of > search. Hello, Currently, when I add a user through the CMF, they are created by default with the Owner Role applied. I was wandering how I can make the default user role another role that I defined, without having to go to the ZMI to make the change manually. Thanks for your help. Patrick Hresko

HELP !! URGENT: POSKeyError
by Petter Enholm 28 May '02

28 May '02

Hi, On my production server I get POSKeyError when I try to access the management screens, the Control_Panel etc. Some parts of my site are available, but most parts gives this error. The traceback shows: 2002-05-27T13:52:38 ERROR(200) ZODB Couldn't load state for '\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x04A\xf6' Traceback (innermost last): File /usr/local/Zope-2.5.1b1-src/lib/python/ZODB/Connection.py, line 447, in setstate File /usr/local/Zope-2.5.1b1-src/lib/python/ZODB/FileStorage.py, line 581, in load (Object: /usr/local/zope-prod/var/Data.fs) File /usr/local/Zope-2.5.1b1-src/lib/python/ZODB/FileStorage.py, line 557, in _load (Object: /usr/local/zope-prod/var/Data.fs) POSKeyError: 00000000000441f6 It seems to me that the Data.fs file is currupted. Is there some way to repair it? The fstest.py tools gives this message: 15570990L object serialno 0x034421cb33bd68f7 does not matchtransaction id 0x034421e30cd63455 Is there some way to solve this problem ?
