Return to a DTML page
by Antonio Beamud Montero 25 Apr '02

25 Apr '02

Hello all: I have a little problem. I have the next hierarchy: A | B | C In C I have a method to process a form, until here all ok, but the return of this method is: return self.getParentNode().show() And this works, but the url is like this: A/B/C/show C has and edit_html() dtml method and B also has the same method but whit different meaning. In the show() page, exist a link to the edit_html() method, but zope when I click in that link redirects me to the C.edit_html() method and not to the B.edit_html() method... How I can solve this problem? Formulator Date Time fields not rendering CSS class element
by Eric Walstad 25 Apr '02

25 Apr '02

Hi All! I scoured the list archives and also tried the Formulator mailing list... no joy. I find that when I specify a CSS class in my Formulator Date/Time fields the class element is not getting rendered on the page. I've tried using both the "CSS class" entry on the ZMI Edit tab as well as the one on the Override tab with no luck. The CSS class element is getting rendered fine on my Text Fields. I tried chasing down the problem in the code: DateTimeWidget.render() (do some magic to format the date parts) Field.render_sub_field() _render_helper() Widget.render() return "[widget]" I couldn't figure out where the CSS class element is supposed to get rendered. I also don't understand what "[widget]" is supposed to do. I simply want each of the text fields (the sub fields that get rendered with the whole Date/Time field) to have a "class='reqd_input'" element. The Zope Date/Time object *is* storing the css_class property value, but I believe that value is just not making it to the function that renders the HTML tag. Any pointers are *VERY* appreciated!! PS, pls respond to me directly as well as to the list. Eric.

VirtualHostMonster and multiple domains
by notices 25 Apr '02

25 Apr '02

Hi. I have concerns about virtual hosting. Today, I have a single zope instance with a single IP number and a single application in a folder called /lngate. No Apache, just ZServer. So far I have been testing it with the IP number x.x.x.x/lngate . I just set up a virtual host monster with the mapping www.lngate.com/lngate So hopefully tomorrow, when we start changing www.lngate.com to point to this new IP number, the requests will be forwarded to the lngate folder. Do I have to do anything to my Catalogs? I don't need Squid, do I? This will be a low traffic site, with very small pages. Also, my network guys, who usually work in IIS, are telling me that when the second application is ready, it will need a separate IP number. And that this application should be in the root folder of the site. Is that right, or can I just use another domain with the same IP? I would add another line to the Virtual Host Monster, and have the second application in a second folder. That's the way I interpret the virtual host monster documentation. Has anybody done this? Thanks for your help, Annie

Problem with dtml-sendmail
by Markus Stoll 25 Apr '02

25 Apr '02

we wrote an email form that performs a POST on a python script. This python script calls a dtml-method with the <dtml-sendmail>. The dtml-sendmail does not find the MailHost if it is not in the same folder. So I have to create a separate MailHost in the same folder and everything is fine. Acquisition otherwise works fine, the standard_html_header is found and included. So why does Acuqisition not work for dtml-sendmail? Any ideas? Markus

Re: Propertysheets in DTML
by Lars Heber 25 Apr '02

25 Apr '02

That's the way I'm doing it: Within a ZClass instance: <dtml-in "propertysheets.nameOfPropertySheet.propertyMap())" mapping> <dtml-if sequence-start><table></dtml-if> <tr> <td><dtml-var id></td> <td><dtml-var "_.getitem(id)"></td> </tr> <dtml-if sequence-end></table></dtml-if> </dtml-in> Maybe not the neatest way, but it works... (BTW: Improvement of the above code is welcome!) see http://www.zope.org/Documentation/ZopeBook/AppendixB.stx for more information -> keyword: propertyMap. RE: [Zope] Bug in BTreeFolder 0.2 (Was: Debian and FreePM)
by sean.upton＠uniontrib.com 25 Apr '02

25 Apr '02

It should be said that this bypasses security machinery, etc, by not using the ObjectManager interfaces. I don't think that BTreeFolder was ever positioned as much more than something to subclass, which is likely the right way to do the UI for it. For example, I'm storing several hundred thousand objects in a BTreeFolder derived container, and I decided that the only way to have a decent UI was certainly not to use any of the ObjectManager stuff, and use a catalog to find objects, replacing the listbox UI with a search screen. Perhaps some Zopistas could > have a look. I think I mailed the upstream author some month ago, but I got no response. Would be nice if it could get fixed in the upstream. BTW, the documentation should mention that _setOb and _setObject behave very different. _setOb uses the btree store and _setObject uses the normal Folder store. Thus _setOb is what you want. thomas _______________________________________________ Zope maillist - Zope(a)zope.org http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** (Related lists - http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev )

Unable to change proxy role...
by Lars Heber 25 Apr '02

25 Apr '02

Hello list, sorry, it nearly seems to be a FAQ, but the list didn't give a satisfying solution. I also have problems in changing proxy roles. I am Manager, and I'm trying to grant a python script the proxy role "Manager" as well. I still tried give myself the local role "Manager" explicitely in the containing folder and even in the script itself. I also tried it with other (more restricted) roles, without any success, too.(But I CAN set the proxy role to either Anonymous or Authenticated.) The strange thing is that all those things work perfectly with DTML methods, only Python Scripts refuse to accept the new proxy role. Additionally, I have to say that I use LDAP User Folder for authentication, but all the group / role management takes place under Zope. I also disabled the feature of receiving groups from the LDAP. Why I'm mentioning that is because: When I create an own Zopish acl_users folder in the containing folder, create a new user as Manager, then that user is allowed to do with the python script whatever he wants, including change the proxy role of the python script to Manager. After having done this and relogging in as LDAP user, I even cannot edit the script anymore. Is this a bug, are there workarounds, can anybody please help? How can I (as normal user) change the proxy role like I want? Thanks a lot. -- Lars Heber, mailto:Lars.Heber@t-systems.com T-Systems, debis Systemhaus GEI GmbH, Geschaeftsstelle Sachsen

Help with Version LockError, please
by Uwe Schuerkamp 25 Apr '02

25 Apr '02

Hi, I have a problem with a locked version in Zope 2.5.1b2. I played around adding a version object to a subfolder, then later deleting it. Now, when I try to add new items to the root folder I get the following error: Error Type: VersionLockError Error Value: ("'\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x00\\x02'", 'No longer active') I found a suggestion at zope-forum instructing to undo the "delete version" operation, re-enter that version (I don't even remember ever leaving it ;-) and then to proceed from there. However, the operation is no longer in the Undo log of the folder in question. Is there any way to "unlock" the root folder short of re-installing Zope from scratch? Thanks in advance for any help, Uwe PS: Yeah, I feel stoopid ;-) -- Uwe Schuerkamp Tel: +49 (0)5241 / 80 10 66, FAX: - / 6 23 38 Uwe.Schuerkamp(a)nionex.net Nionex GmbH, IWN5 (http://www.nionex.de/) GnuPG KeyID: 5887047D Avenwedder Str. 55, 33311 Guetersloh GnuPG Fingerprint: 2E 13 20 22 9A 3F 63 7F 67 6F E9 B1 A8 36 A4 61

Copying Objects of a Python Class
by Thomas Guettler 25 Apr '02

25 Apr '02

Hi! If I copy an instance of a python class (I am developing a python product) I got the problem that it does a deep copy. The original has a attribute called default_catalog which is a reference to the catalog where all objects are stored. If I do a copy, there is a unfortunately a new object (default_catalog). But it should be a reference to the catalog where all objects are stored. I store a template in the folder 'defaults' and want to copy it to 'documents'. (Layout: root/defaults root/documents) In the Object which gets copied: def createNewDocument(self, REQUEST=None): r=self.root() orig=r.defaults[self.id] copy=orig._getCopy(r) # Stolen form CopySupport.manage_clone. Don't know what it does copy=copy.__of__(orig) copy.id=r.nextID() copy.isDefaultDocument=0 r.documents._setObject(copy.id, copy) # TODO: Btree if copy.default_catalog!=orig.default_catalog: print "orig", orig.default_catalog print "copy", copy.default_catalog raise "Bad Copy" if REQUEST: REQUEST.RESPONSE.redirect('/' + r.id + '/documents/' + copy.id) The log: orig <ZCatalog instance at 02633AB8> copy <ZCatalog instance at 02522EC0> --> there is a new object _getCopy does this (From Zope's CopySupport.py): def _getCopy(self, container): # Ask an object for a new copy of itself. f=tempfile.TemporaryFile() self._p_jar.exportFile(self._p_oid,f) f.seek(0) ob=container._p_jar.importFile(f) f.close() return ob I think the export and reimport creates new objects. I think I will write my own copy method and don't use _getCopy except someone has a solution Thank you for listening. thomas
