Apache 2 Virtual Hosting
by hpinson＠indepthl.com 16 Apr '02

Does anyone have an example httpd.conf (or just the virtual hosting section) for Apache 2 virtual hosting, that works using either the ProxyPass / ProxyPassReverse or mod_rewrite methods? What works under Apache 1.x just does not seem to work (for me) with Apache 2. RE: [Zope] SECURITY: Hotfix 2002-04-15
by Granzow, Doug (NCI) 16 Apr '02

How do you install a hotfix? The README says "Hotfix products are installed just as you would install any other Zope product." which is totally meaningless to me. How do you "install any other Zope product."? How do I then confirm it is installed? Can we have some slightly more descriptive documentation, especially for something as important as hotfixes? -----Original Message----- From: Brian Lloyd [mailto:brian@zope.com] Sent: Monday, April 15, 2002 4:24 PM To: zope-announce(a)zope.org; zope(a)zope.org Subject: [Zope] SECURITY: Hotfix 2002-04-15 This hotfix addresses an important security issue that may affect some users of Zope versions 2.0 through 2.5.1 b1. The issue involves a vulnerability involving "through the web code" inadvertently allowing an untrusted user to remotely shut down a Zope server by allowing the user to inject special headers into the response. If you allow untrusted users to write "through the web" code like Python Scripts, DTML Methods, or Page Templates, your Zope server is vulnerable. We highly recommend that any Zope site have this hotfix product installed to mitigate the issue. Zope 2.5.1b2 and 2.4.4b2 as well as subsequent Zope release versions will contain a fix for the issue, at which time the hotfix can be removed. http://www.zope.org/Products/Zope/Hotfix_2002-04-15/README.txt http://www.zope.org/Products/Zope/Hotfix_2002-04-15/Hotfix_2002-04-15.tgz Brian Lloyd brian(a)zope.com V.P. Transparent Folders & Zope 2.5.0
by Ian J Cottee 16 Apr '02

Does anyone have Transparent Folders working with Zope 2.5.0? I've installed the product, patched the OFS/__init__.py code and it claims it has loaded fine on startup. I can add a Transparent Folder to the root of my website, but it just doesn't seem to do anything. Specifically: / /web /web/globals /web/globals/test I'd expect /web/test to access the 'test' in globals but I just get a 'Cannot locate object' error. From reading the posts and comments others have made about this product it seems like it should just work.I want to do this to try and clean up the enormous number of methods that I usually carry in my site root. This is with Zope 2.5.0, source release and Transparent Folders 0.3.2 Any help gratefully received Ian

Upload photo DTML
by William Goedicke 16 Apr '02

Dear Y'all - I'm a newbie and am engaged in an exercise of setting up a photo album as a means of learning zope. Ron Bickers "Photo" product is working splendidly, but I'm stuck trying to creating a from that allows uploading photos to the current folder. The FAQ.txt file suggests: <dtml-call expr="manage_addProduct['Photo'].manage_addPhoto(id, title, file)"> I've got a form displaying no problem, but how do I utilize this line in the index.html to upload photos. The simplest possible example would be my preferred explanation format. Thanks in advance. [snip] i have a way around this which will shortly be at the following url: http://www.zope.org/Members/careymatt/dreamweaver_dtml_objects basically its an extension for dreamweaver, which once loaded using the extension manager, will let the application understand (to some extent) dtml tags. some of the 'features' include: -- you can see your dtml page in the wysywig view (though if you have your body tags and any stylesheets in a common html header it won't pick them up). in most cases this will only cause problems with the look of the page -- it won't flash up dtml tags as unrecognised code and write them into the body of the page, thus ruining any page layouts -- common dtml tags represented by different icons -- a dtml pane in the objects palette from where you can insert a dtml tag i have a few things left to finish plus the installer file, which is taking a while as there are a lot of files to insert into dreamweaver. hopefully in about a week this will be available for everyone to use and give me feedback... cheers matt -------------------------------- Matt Carey Text Matters 37 Upper Redlands Road, Information design: Reading RG1 5JE, UK We help explain things using phone +44 (0)118 986 8313 .language fax +44 (0)118 931 3743 .design email matt(a)textmatters.com .systems web http://www.textmatters.com .process

Hello Roger. > open a index_html file in dreamwaver from Zope. I try to do > the same with ZPT Zope Page Templates. Whats the > solution for to run this on Dreamweaver? Dreamweaver 4 cannot open a file with no extension, like index_html, in WYSYWIG mode, though it can open it using the HTML inspector. My solution was to create a dtml method called index_html at the site root that looks like this: <dtml-var standard_html_header> <dtml-var content_shell> <dtml-var standard_html_footerr> Into the dtml content_shell variable I load a ZPT document named content.htm. Dreamweaver will have no problem opening that since it has an extension. Each folder (section of your website) has a content.htm, and through the magic of acquisition, your standard header and footer will load too, and are sheilded to some extent, from inadvertant harm. Then simply change your Dreamweaver FTP port (in Preferences) to 8021 or whatever you set in your z2.py, go to Site Manager, connect, and edit normally. Dreamweaver MX should be out shortly. I hope it will support extensionless files. Another solution was to ditch Dreamweaver in favor of JASC Namo WebEditor, which has no problems opeing files without extensions in WYSiWIG mode, and is generally a good and affordable alternative to Dreamweaver. I hope that helps. Harlow Pinson Indepth Learning Email: hpinson(a)indepthl.com Web: http://www.indepthl.com Voice: 505-994-2135 FAX: 208-475-7678
