Newbie Question - starting up Zope
by Roger Fisher 16 Apr '02

16 Apr '02

Hello - I have installed Zope on an older Win95 laptop with the hope of being able to do offline "in the field" demonstrations of some work. This installation will startup correctly if I have an active connection to the Internet, however the Zope server does not start properly if there is no active connection. I have disabled the firewall with same results. Any suggestions emailed directly are greatly appreciated. ImageMagik with TexIndexNG
by Matt Gregory 16 Apr '02

16 Apr '02

I am trying to build DocumentLibrary with wvware, which requires ImageMagik for wmf support. I am having trouble getting ImageMagik to compile. Some of the problems include it's refusal to recognize the installation of the Open Jpeg Groups jpeg-6b library (even with the --with-jpeg=../jpeg-6b) configure option. That may or may not be the root problem because the make fails with the problems: "undefined reference to 'png_permit_mng_features'" ...ditto... "'png_create_write_struct_2'" ...ditto... "'png_create_read_struct_2'" I am using Zope 2.5, standard gnu libraries, I have installed zlib, pnglib, libpdf, tifflib, jpeglib wv - all the latest releases as of this post. Any clues?

Hey everyone, Has anyone been able to use Formulator to build an edit form for a ZClass? I'm having trouble with it and I'm wondering if it *should* work. -Tim -- Tim Wilson | Visit Sibley online: | Check out: Henry Sibley HS | http://www.isd197.org | http://www.zope.com W. PyGoogle and Zope's Python
by Juergen R. Plasser / Hexagon 16 Apr '02

16 Apr '02

Hi all! I hope this is not offtopic here because it's mainly regarding Python... I've just tried to use PyGoogle (http://diveintomark.org/projects/#pygoogle, a python wrapper for the google api, www.google.com/apis) on my Zope's Python installation, but it throws an exception: Python 2.1.2 (#1, Jan 25 2002, 13:17:56) [GCC 2.7.2.3] on linux2 Type "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information. >>> import google >>> google.LICENSE_KEY = '...' >>> data = google.doGoogleSearch('python') Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in ? Do I have to install Expat or any other xml parser? On my Win32 installation (2.5.1b1/Win2k2) everything worked fine, Q: Are there differences between Linx and Win (in the Zope distribution of course)? Juergen -- Juergen Plasser plasser(a)hexagon.at

Clear catalog problem
by Zanotti Michele 16 Apr '02

16 Apr '02

Hi all, In my Zope 2.5 root folder I have a vocabulary with id Vocabulary and a Zcatalog that uses (but doesn't contain) Vocabulary. If I use "Clear Catalog" in advanced tab, and then "Find and Catalog" in "Find Objects" tab, in Catalog I have the same object number I had before clear, but Vocabulary remains empty (If I clear a zcatalog containing vocabulary, with "find object" I have in vocabulary the same number of words I had before clear). Can anyone explain me this behaviour (I haven't found informations with Google)? Thanks Michele

ldapuserfolder newbie problem: crypt not found
by H.de.Wit＠SFK.NL 16 Apr '02

16 Apr '02

We just started with ldapuserfolder. During startup of the Zope server we got an error message: import error: no module named crypt And indeed, it is not there, so we forgot something, but what? Where is the crypt module coming from? Our Zope version: 2.5.0, Ldapuserfolder 2 Hans de Wit Stichting Farmaceutische Kengetallen Postbus 30460 2500 GL DEN HAAG Tel. 070-3737448 Fax 070-3737445

SECURITY: Hotfix 2002-04-15
by Brian Lloyd 16 Apr '02

16 Apr '02

This hotfix addresses an important security issue that may affect some users of Zope versions 2.0 through 2.5.1 b1. The issue involves a vulnerability involving "through the web code" inadvertently allowing an untrusted user to remotely shut down a Zope server by allowing the user to inject special headers into the response. If you allow untrusted users to write "through the web" code like Python Scripts, DTML Methods, or Page Templates, your Zope server is vulnerable. We highly recommend that any Zope site have this hotfix product installed to mitigate the issue. Zope 2.5.1b2 and 2.4.4b2 as well as subsequent Zope release versions will contain a fix for the issue, at which time the hotfix can be removed. http://www.zope.org/Products/Zope/Hotfix_2002-04-15/README.txt http://www.zope.org/Products/Zope/Hotfix_2002-04-15/Hotfix_2002-04-15.tgz Brian Lloyd brian(a)zope.com V.P. dtml-in sorting on lists
by ririe＠spininternet.com 16 Apr '02

16 Apr '02

Hi, I would like to use dtml-in's sort functionality, but on indices of lists, not attributes. Basically, I have a function, say getLoL() that generates a list of lists ( e.g. [ [A1,A2,A3],[B1,B2,B3], ...] I can use dtml-in to loop through this like: <dtml-in expr="getLoL()"> First index: <dtml-var expr="_.getitem('sequence-item')[0]"> </dtml-in> How can I now sort based on say the second index of the sequence-item? (ie sort A2, B2, C2, etc) I've looked at the DT_In.py code, and think I need to make modifications to allow for indexing (as opposed to getattr's) but was wondering if there was an existing way.
