Experience with Acquisition.Explicit
by Thomas Guettler 12 Apr '02

Has someone experience with developing python products which inherit from Explicit and ObjectManager (or Folder)? I prefere explicit acquisition but I don't want to have trouble when I use e.g. FTP or WebDAV access. thomas

Re: [Zope] Help with unconsistent behavior of parameter passing to Python Scripts.
by net_seeker＠web.de 12 Apr '02

Hi, looks to me like the test-screen parameter input-field is not evaluated as an python instruction, but as a string. did you try to feed the script with a "real" list through dtml/other script ? external method / passing variables....
by Mehmet Yousouf 12 Apr '02

12 Apr '02

Hi, I'm trying to run system commands from zope, I want to pass arguments to the external method (e.g. something like: "commands.getoutput('ls -l "argument passed from zope" > some_file') is this sort of thing doable? Any suggested reading materials for playing around with external methods? Regards, Mehmet

How to use folders in ZClasses
by Peter Bengtsson 12 Apr '02

12 Apr '02

In a ZClass, if I deploy image1_gif, image2_gif, they can be reached from an instance or ZClass method like this: <dtml-var image1_gif> That's fine, but I have many many images and I don't want to deploy them in the ZClass except collected into a folder called "EditImages". So if I, in the ZClass, have a folder called "EditImages" that contains image1_gif, image2_gif, ... imageN.gif then I would expect to be able to use: <dtml-with EditImages> <dtml-var images1_gif> </dtml-with> ...but this does NOT work. I get instead: Unauthorized You are not authorized to access EditImages. So, how to use folders correctly inside a ZClass?? Regards, Peter

RE: Apache 2.0
by Bob Corriher 12 Apr '02

Ho Roel, We installed Apache 2.0 several days ago on our servers using Redhat 7.2 and the Apache RPM. We haven't had any problems at all. One thing to note is that mod_proxy is not installed by default, if you use it for virtual hosting. We have several sites using Zope 2.5.1b1 on the server, but not CMF. All in all, it was quick and easy to upgrade. Bob Corriher P-Wave inc.

RE: [Zope] Valid email address...
by Michael Fox 12 Apr '02

Cheers Max, that's exactly what I needed. Simply to check if the string contains those values.. something(a)something.something The fact that is is or isn't a real email address is not an issue for me ATM. Thanks, Michael. -----Original Message----- From: zope-admin(a)zope.org [mailto:zope-admin@zope.org]On Behalf Of Max M Sent: Friday, 12 April 2002 4:59 PM To: Michael Fox Cc: zope(a)zope.org Subject: Re: [Zope] Valid email address... Michael Fox wrote: >Not being a python guru myself, I was wondering if anyone could provide a code snippet that checks the value of a dtml-var to see if it's a valid email address..? > There is no way to do it correctly without sending an email and see if you get an reply, so don't sweat to much over it. I usually just do something like: def isValidMail(adress): return '@' in adress and '.' in adress or if you are a bit more paranoid: def isValidMail(adress): if '@' in adress and '.' in adress: id, url = adress.split('@') domain, topDomain = url.split('.') return len(id)>0 and len(domain)>0 and len(topDomain)>0 return 0 In practice you cannot really do much better even though you tried much harder. you could then call it like: <dtml-if "isValidMail(adress)"> do stuff </dtml-if> regards Max M _______________________________________________ Zope maillist - Zope(a)zope.org http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** (Related lists - http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev )

SiteRoot and URL1 cause different namespace error
by Steven Turoff 12 Apr '02

12 Apr '02

Greetings, (I apologize if this gets posted twice.) I'm having a problem resolving URL's running in ZServer mode with a SiteRoot. Some background: httpd.conf contains: ProxyPass / http://localhost:8080/ ProxyPassReverse / http://localhost:8080/ ProxyVia on The SiteRoot is: base = https://my.server.com path = / If I create the following DTML method, I get a "Different Namespace" error: URL is: <dtml-var URL1> <p> Content is: <dtml-var "REQUEST.resolve_url(URL1)"> In testing, I have found that I can fix this error by changing the last line to: Content is: <dtml-var "REQUEST.resolve_url('http://' + REQUEST.HTTP_HOST + URLPATH1)"> This isn't a very elegant solution, though. How can I get Zope to properly resolve the URL1 variable? Thanks, Steve

RE: [Zope] Problems with ZSyncer in Zope 2.5
by Graham King 12 Apr '02

Funny that, I could only get ZSyncer Version 0.3 to work with 2.5.0 and 2.5.1b1, on both Solaris and openBSD 3.0 ZSyncer < 0.4.3 does not work in Zope 2.5. I couldn't find documentation to that fact, but I did upgrade and fix the problem. Just an FYI if you happen to run into this. > I can't get ZSyncer working in Zope 2.5. Problems with ZSyncer in Zope 2.5
by Matt Gregory 11 Apr '02

11 Apr '02

I can't get ZSyncer working in Zope 2.5. Whenever I try to do a sync I get a KeyError on the target host. The key error is "object" if nothing is check and "folders" if I try to sync a folder which does not yet exist on the client. Does anyone know if the patch is in the works or if I need to roll it myself?
