SiteRoot and URL1 cause different namespace error
by Steven Turoff 12 Apr '02

12 Apr '02

Greetings, I'm having a problem resolving URL's running in ZServer mode with a SiteRoot. Some background: httpd.conf contains: ProxyPass / http://localhost:8080/ ProxyPassReverse / http://localhost:8080/ ProxyVia on The SiteRoot is: base = https://my.server.com path = / If I create the following DTML method, I get a "Different Namespace" error: URL is: <dtml-var URL1> <p> Content is: <dtml-var "REQUEST.resolve_url(URL1)"> In testing, I have found that I can fix this error by changing the last line to: Content is: <dtml-var "REQUEST.resolve_url('http://' + REQUEST.HTTP_HOST + URLPATH1)"> This isn't a very elegant solution, though. How can I get Zope to properly resolve the URL1 variable? Thanks, Steve

Relational database & user permissions (select, add, update, delete)
by Jon Erickson 12 Apr '02

12 Apr '02

I've run into a problem while developing a multi-user database application using Postgresql and Zope with ZSQL methods. I need user\group based security for the database similar to... User A can select from table FOO but cannot update, delete, or add records to FOO. User B can select, update and delete from FOO but cannot add records to FOO. ... but most Database Adapters use a single, static user login for database connections. The single user login provides for easy db connection configuration but doesn't help when you want to use a databases built-in security. I don't really want to program this logic in python when Postgresql already has said features. Does anyone have experience implementing user-level database security in a Zope app? If so, could you reply with some suggestions or examples please. Thanks, Jon Erickson

RE: [Zope] LocalFS and ZPT
by blossom merz 12 Apr '02

12 Apr '02

Hello, Jeff. I'm sorry for my lack of clarity; I'm a zope newbie. What I need to do is store ZPTs on the local filesystem, and have them treated as page templates when they are browsed. As it stands, they are served as the text of the source. If you have LocalFS installed, you can see what I mean by trying two things: 1) try to add a Page Template to a localFS directory: Error Value: Cannot add objects of type 'Page Template' to local directories. 2) copy the text of a ZPT into a file ending in .zpt in the directory on the filesystem, and try to 'view' it. I see that in the edit menu of the localFS instance (as well as in the source of the module), I have the ability to add new types to the type map. I have tried inserting an entry for .zpt, but nothing I've tried will get it to treat these files as page templates. Does this all make sense? Thanks for your help! blossom

Folder specific templates for DTML Document
by Maik Jablonski 12 Apr '02

12 Apr '02

hello, I need different DTML-Document-"Templates" (different source and properties) for different folders, but I don't want to create a (Z)Class for everything. So when a user adds a DTML Document in the folder 'Students' he should get the 'Students'-Default-DTML-Document (with properties like name, address, email), when adding a DTML Document in folder Events he should get the Event-Default-DTML-Document (properties like date, headline, description). My idea is a "patch" for DTMLDocument/addDTMLDocument: When a DTML Document with the name "standard_dtml_document" can be aquired, this will be cloned/copied into the new created DTML Document... with source and properties. So I can put my students-default-DTML-Document as "standard_dtml_document" into the students-folder, dito for my events-default-DTML-Document. Question: How can I "overwrite" (in a Product) the original addDTMLDocument with my own method (code see below), so I don't have to change OFS/DTMLDocument.py(thinking of ZOPE-updates)? Or is there already an existing solution which I did not see? Thank you, maik. *** def addDTMLDocument(self, id, title='', file='', REQUEST=None, submit=None): """Add a DTML Document object with the contents of file. If 'file' is empty, default document text is used. """ if type(file) is not type(''): file=file.read() id = str(id) title = str(title) if not file: if (hasattr(self,'standard_dtml_document') and self.standard_dtml_document.meta_type=='DTML Document'): self.manage_clone(self.standard_dtml_document,id,REQUEST) else: ob=DTMLDocument(standard_dtml_document, __name__=id) ob.title=title id=self._setObject(id, ob) else: ob=DTMLDocument(file, __name__=id) ob.title=title id=self._setObject(id, ob) if REQUEST is not None: try: u=self.DestinationURL() except: u=REQUEST['URL1'] if submit==" Add and Edit ": u="%s/%s" % (u,quote(id)) REQUEST.RESPONSE.redirect(u+'/manage_main') return ''

Hello! How can I overwrite the PUT method in "webdav.NullResource.NullResource" in the __init__.py of my product. The following doesn't work: [...] import webdav.NullResource def myPUT(self, REQUEST, RESPONSE): [original code] webdav.NullResource.NullResource.PUT = myPUT overwriting "webdav.NullResource.NullResource._default_PUT_factory" works fine: def PUT_factory( self, name, typ, body ): [original + my own code] webdav.NullResource.NullResource._default_PUT_factory = PUT_factory Bye Marcus -- Petition for a Software Patent Free Europe http://petition.eurolinux.org

=== Appel au peuple francais ===
by resistance＠france.net 12 Apr '02

RE: [Zope] setting default security permissions
by Tom Cameron 12 Apr '02

After more experimenting, I discovered that a restart of the zope server solved the problem. Nice to know, but I dont really wish to restart zope everytime I make a change. I am using Zope 2.5 and it appears that the refresh does not refresh the default security permissions. Re: Re: Help with unconsistent behavior of parameter passing to Python Scripts.
by febb 12 Apr '02

Hi Thanks for replying. Sure I did. Actually I did called the script from a DTML Method / DMTL Document objects to be executed as the ACTION of an (html) FORM. The same thing happenned. It was evaluated as a STRING instead of as a LIST as it actually is. I would have expected that the behavior of a plain python program (tested directly under python prompt), then the same program "ported" to be a Zope python script tested witht the internal Zope's "test" tab and later on called from DTML would behave the same. Any ideas?
