Hi *, Not being a python guru myself, I was wondering if anyone could provide a code snippet that checks the value of a dtml-var to see if it's a valid email address..? Cheers, Michael Fox

How to install hotfix?
by Anton Rops 12 Apr '02

12 Apr '02

I have downloaded and unzipped the Hotfix file into the Zope directory. What do I need to do further to install this hotfix, or is this it? I have been looking for an answer on the website and also browsed through a pile of documents and READMEs but could not find anything better than: "Hotfix products are installed just as you would install any other Zope product." But how is this done? FYI: I'm running 2.5.0 now. Thanks in advance. Best regards, Anton

Re: [Zope] MySQLDA on BSD

Download mysql-python and zmysqlda at http://sourceforge.net/projects/mysql-python/ and build mysql-python from source with your installed python. I suggest to compile yourself the combo Python/Zope/MySQL/MySQL-Python. Blaise Laflamme > Hey all. > > I'm assisting with a BSD server that is attempting to get zope/MySQLDA > going. Re: [Zope] Building Python for Zope on *NIX
by oliver.erlewein＠sqs.de 12 Apr '02

Hi Lennart My problem is (still) the threading of Solaris (see thread on performance and threading or the Threading Report http://www.zope.org/Members/glpb/solaris) Usually I just have two Solaris machines to play with and now I had two Linux PC's aswell. One was on RedHat 7.2 with Py 2.1.2 and Zope 2.4.4 from source and the other was Py 2.1.? and Zope 2.4.1 precompiled. The problem I had with Solaris is that it seemed to be singlethreaded! You run a big "job" on Zope and try to do something with the management interface (or anything else on the site) and it won't work in parallel. I used to think that it is a Solaris problem. But the Linux RedHat machine has the same problem. Now I noticed that the problem does not surface when I use precompiled stuff (Suse Linux machine - or WinNT I tried earlier). Therefore it MUST be my build of Python!! Now the thing is, where did I go wrong?! As I understand it it must be as simple as you said but since I had the same problems with 3 machines of totally different types and *NIXes my error must be quite obvious.... Was that detailed enough for you to give ma a hint? Thanx for the help Oliver Erlewein

Building Python for Zope on *NIX
by oliver.erlewein＠sqs.de 12 Apr '02

12 Apr '02

Hi all I found no concise description on how to CORRECTLY compile Python on a *NIX box. I compile with: make clean rm config.cache LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/lwp export LD_LIBRARY_PATH ./configure –-with-threads make make install That is about identical to what all documentations I found said. I've got the unfounded hunch that I'm missing something (maybe some Flags I have to set on gcc?). What does Zope Corp use when they compile binaries? Are there other progies besides Python and Zope that I have to configure/change. I hope somebody can help... Oliver Erlewein

Zope & apache ...
by Paul 12 Apr '02

12 Apr '02

Hi, I've just read the webservers.txt file and I've got a question : ). If I use apache and pcgi or cgi to pass requests to zope, rather than using the zope http server directly, do I still need to have the zope http server running? I.e. I will have apache on port 80 for example, passing requests to zope running on 8080, two servers running. Initially my plan was (is) to use mod_proxy or rewrite to just pass requests back to the zope server. Using cgi or pcgi looks like an added level of complexity at this point... Thanks Paul.

bug in DTMLMethod.py / decapitate ?
by Maik Jablonski 12 Apr '02

12 Apr '02

hi, -- the following may only be a problem of linux, but I can't test it against windows -- I've just tried to improve my PHProduct. I wanted to process the returned PHP-Headers, so creating images and so on will be possible out of the box. I tried to process the PHP-result through the standard 'decapitate'-method. But this did not work, because PHP returns headers with '\r\n'-newlines, but DTMLMethod.py / 'decapitate' searches only for '\n'. If I remember right (feel free to correct me), '\r\n' is a valid newline for headers in the HTTP-RFC's. So I would call it a minor bug in 'DTMLMethod.py / decapitate'... Work-a-round (maybe of interest for others who play with other external processors and wonder why headers aren't processed correct): yourOutput.replace('\r\n\r\n','\n\n',1) before returning the result to ZOPE. greetings, maik. p.s.: I will release a new version of PHParser with working headers next week. -- maik jablonski http://www.sachunterricht-online.de universitaet bielefeld http://www.zfl.uni-bielefeld.de zentrum fuer lehrerbildung tlph://+49.(0).521.106.4234
