RE: [Zope] Session Mgmt. with Session Id Manager
by Schmidt, Allen J. 10 Apr '02

Nice, but not very helpful I found. A simple HowTo would have helped more. We have been using SQLSession for a while and its been working well but we feel there may be issues with Squid and ZEO and many ZEO clients on different boxes. And, se figured since the new Sessioning stuff is built in, maybe now is a good time to switch. So, the questions: Which of the session-type things need to be added where? Data Managers, ID managers, Transient containers?? In SQLSession, I *dtml-call Session* at the top of every page that will use sessions (in standard_header) and then use *dtml-call SESSION.set(name, value)* and *dtml-var SESSION['name']* whenever I want to set or get something from the session. Does anyone have specifics on how to do this simplest of things with the new Sessioning tools? Thanks!!!! -Allen -----Original Message----- From: Geir Bækholt [mailto:geirh@funcom.com] Sent: Wednesday, April 10, 2002 7:22 AM To: Marc Ende Cc: zope(a)zope.org Subject: Re: [Zope] Session Mgmt. with Session Id Manager The help interface inside Zope actually has nice documentation on sessions.... :-) hth on or about, Wednesday, April 10, 2002, we have reason to believe that Marc Ende wrote something along the lines of : ME> Hi there, ME> I've tried to use Sessions on my zope-site for authentication features... Cookie Authentication problem (__ac)
by Marc O. Sandlus 10 Apr '02

10 Apr '02

Hello, Zope's cookie authentication does not work with Zope running "behind" apache, while it works when Zope gets accessed directly. Zope is running on port 9673, apache on port 80, with this RewriteRule in httpd.conf and a VirtualHostMonster in Zope's root directory: RewriteRule ^/mydir(.*) http://localhost:9673/VirtualHostBase/http/myserver:80/mydir$1 [P] So Authentication works if I use the following "direct" access method of Zope's Login Form: http://myserver:9673/mydir/login_form while this doesn't work: http://myserver/mydir/login_form What "doesn't work" means: In both cases I get a positive response from Zope (Authentication succeeded) after posting the login form. However, in the latter case the authenticated user becomes the "Anonymous User" again when I load a different URL, which basically means that authentication doesn't took place. What I found out is that the cookie "__ac" doesn't get set in the latter case, while the cookie "__ac_name" gets set in both cases. That's weird and I wonder if anybody could explain why. Thanks in advance, Marc

Relative paths in Extensions folder
by Garikoitz Araolaza 09 Apr '02

09 Apr '02

Hi! Writing p=open('myfile.txt','r') in a Python module in Extensions folder doesn't work unless you give the whole absolute path for the file: p=open('/usr/zope/2.5.0/Extensions/myfile.txt','r') Is there any way to define relative paths to the files in Extensions, so that my app works in different systems? (I was thinking about accessing the INSTANCE_HOME variable, for example...) looking into folders for specific entries or add properties to fo lder on creation
by Ria Marinussen 09 Apr '02

09 Apr '02

Hi, In our zope-site we have two types of pages, contained in folders. I want make the color of the generated URL dependant on the type of page that is in the folder, while showing the link to the folder. I use this code to generate the list of url's: <table> <dtml-in expr="objectValues('Folder')"> <tr><td><a href="<dtml-var absolute_url>"> <dtml-var title_or_id></a></td><tr> </dtml-in> </table> I would like to be able to show the links in different colors depending on the content(DTML-method) of the folder (every folder contains only one DTML-method, folders are to be excluded, so I only have to check the name of the DTML-method in the folder). Is it possible to look inside folders during the generating of this list of URL's ? A work-around could be, giving every folder an extra property for example "type" and check for the content of this property. The folders and their DTML-method are generated from a python script. Is it possible to add folders from a python script and add an extra property at the same time? If not, what is my best option: creating a new_folder ZClass like a folder with an extra property (how?), or creating a new python product (for example with the mxm Easy product)? Thanks in advance, Ria Marinussen

string tokenizer, sql results
by alexb＠runbox.com 09 Apr '02

09 Apr '02

Hi all, Is it possible to have a String Tokenizer in Zope? I have an input field where the user is supposed to enter multiple keywords. How can I extract the keywords from the field, using space or comma as the delimeter? Can I do it from Zope or do I need to invoke a separate script? I've also noticed that when displaying search results, the "Previous Results" link is displayed at the top, and the "Next X results" is at the bottom. If I cut and paste the previous results link at the bottom it doesn't work. I experimented with it and noticed that it only works within or outside the <dtml-if sequence_start> tag. However, if I put it within the <dtml-if sequence_end> tag it does not appear, as it has the <dtml-if previous_results> statement. Does this mean I can't have a "previous results" and a "next results" options together, side by side? Thanks, Alex

IIS 5.0 on Win2k Server is bundled with an SMTP server service (essentially just a mail relay), though that's all it is: bundled. Is a Global <dtml-with> possible? How can I make <dtml-with> stay in scope forever?
by zvi＠12thplanetcafe.com 09 Apr '02

09 Apr '02

Here is my problem: I have a Squishdot instance named 12thPlanetCafe. I wish for visitors to my root Zope directory's index_html page to go automatically to the Squishdot instance's index_html page instead. Hence I changed the index_html in the root Zope directory so that it reads: <dtml-with "_.getitem('12thPlanetCafe')"> <dtml-var index_html> </dtml-with> The above change works as long as visitors only visits the main page at http://12thPlanetCafe.com/index_html. In that case Zope automatically displays http://12thPlanetCare.com/12thPlanetCafe/index_html instead. However, once these visitors click on any link within the page the <dtml-with "_.getitem('12thPlanetCafe')"> goes out of scope. Instead of being sent to http://12thPlanetCafe/12thPlanetCafe/whateverpagewasrequested they instead go to http://12thPlanetCafe/whateverpagewasrequested. I really want the <dtml-with "_.getitem('12thPlanetCafe')"> tag to stay in scope whenever the user calls a page from a page that itself was reached using this tag. Is there any way to do that? I think that this question relates to the concept of acquisition by context instead of acquisition by container. I want all of my pages to acquire the <dtml-with> tag dynamically as a result of being called from a page in which the <dtml-with> was active. If anyone could help me figure out how to keep my <dtml-with> tag in scope I would appreciate it.
