Hello, Does anybody know if it is possible to integrate existing Java applications over external Methods into Zope. I know it's possible with Perl. Can anybody give me a Howto ?

Squid, SQLSession and caching
by Schmidt, Allen J. 09 Apr '02

Not sure how to even state this question: Using SQLSession against MySQL on Zope 2.51b1 on Linux RH7.2 I added the Session checking code to my standard_html_header. It sets up the session and then checks if the session has the 'user' key. If it does, the code in that branch is processed which is basically a top nav bar which grabs some SQL data and builds nav links based on it. Otherwise it generates a redirect back to the login page. That is the standard_html_header That file is called on every one of pages within this folder (except ZSQL methods.) I usually have to login twice and sometimes even after logging in twice and I get data, it will revert back to a previous login. A hard refresh (IE5.5) will set it back but another refresh does it again! Back and forth. Sometimes it will hold for a few links (to generate views from ZSQL methods) and then switch back again. Tried using this to defeat caching: <HEAD><dtml-call "RESPONSE.setHeader('Cache-Control','private, no-store, no-cache')"> <dtml-call "RESPONSE.setHeader('Expires', '-1')"> <dtml-call "RESPONSE.setHeader('Pragma','no-cache')"> </HEAD> ....but it does not seem to make a difference. Too much? Not enough detail? Could it just be a Squid-induced thing? Thanks!!! Allen

Error when setting up Zope with IIS
by Igor Leturia 09 Apr '02

09 Apr '02

Hi all! I've followed the instructions in http://www.zope.org/Members/brianh/iis_howto to set up Zope with IIS. I think I've done it all properly, but when I write http://localhost/scripts/zope.pcgi/ as it says there, it gives me an error: HTTP 403.1 Forbidden: Execute Access Forbidden. I think I've done it all properly. I think the error might be because I have to give anonymous users execution privileges for zope.pcgi, pcgi-wrapper.exe or the scripts directory. But I can't find where or how I can do this. Any ideas? Thanks in advance, Igor Leturia

FYI: MailBoxer 1.2b
by Maik Jablonski 09 Apr '02

hi, I've just set up a demo-list for the current beta release of MailBoxer - a mailinglist / newsletter / mailarchive-framework for ZOPE. To subscribe to the demo-list send an email with subject 'subscribe' (without quotes) to: mailboxer(a)www.zfl.uni-bielefeld.de You can find the archive of the demo-list and a screenshot of the management-interface at: http://129.70.108.2/mailboxer maybe it gives you an idea of MailBoxer... maybe it helps me in finding some remaining bugs...;-) greetings, maik. p.s.: there is no guarentee that the list will run tomorrow or the next week, so first have a look at http://129.70.108.2/mailboxer before subscribing. thank you!

RE: [Zope] string tokenizer, sql results

>Is it possible to have a String Tokenizer in Zope? I have an >input field where the user is supposed to enter multiple >keywords. How can I extract the keywords from the field, using >space or comma as the delimeter? Can I do it from Zope or do I >need to invoke a separate script? Have you taken a look at the 'split' function for strings? I think it might do what you are looking for. Igor Leturia

Persistent variable in Python Script? Is this a feature or a bug?
by iap＠y2fun.com 09 Apr '02

Given a Python Script A which only returns an array ======== return ('a') ======== Then call A in another Python Script B with parameter list: b=[] ======== b.append(container.A()) return b ======== Then request B in browser. Guess what happened? ['a'] correct! But what if you "reload" B again and again? You will get ['a','a','a',........] Well, why this happen? A feature or A bug? I thought that the parameter should be cleared at each new request. How to get a "local" parameter without this persistent feature? Any idea? Thanks a lot. Iap, Singuan

dtml var image broken?
by Luca Olivetti 09 Apr '02

09 Apr '02

I'm moving some old content (a handful of pages) from zope 2.2.2 to 2.5.1b1 and using an image in dtml-var doesn't work correctly. In 2.2.2 an "dtml-var image" generated an url using absolute_url: img src="http://my.zope.server:8880/image" If the same server is accessed through apache with fastcgi, the url generated is still correct: img src="http://my.apache.server/zope_fastcgi_path/image" In 2.5.1b1 it generates only the path e.g.: img src="/image" regardless if zope is accessed directly (the link works) or through fastcgi (it doesn't). This bug reported for zope 2.4.x seems to be the same http://collector.zope.org/Zope/159 but I couldn't add a comment there. To make it work I had to resort to: img src="&dtml.url-image" Bye -- Luca Olivetti Wetron Automatización S.A. http://www.wetron.es/ Tel. +34 93 5883004 Fax +34 93 5883007

renaming ids
by Colyn Brown 09 Apr '02

09 Apr '02

Hello, I'm having trouble finding a solution to the following problem (which is why I just recently signed up on this list). I created a product that allows users to add calendar events. The ids that are generated are created by converting the event date (EX: Wednesday, March 28, 2002) into a date type (2002-03-28). Adding events works excellent. However, I want the user to be able to edit the event including the event date. So that when they change the event date, the id should change with it. Well, I tried using manage_renameObjects in a variety of forms with a variety of errors. My current solution after a lot of frustration, is to just delete the object, then create a new object with the new id. I'm not satisfied with this solution. At last attempt to use renameObjects, I used this: <dtml-call "manage_renameObjects(oldId, newId)"> Which gave me: ERROR TYPE: AttributeError ERROR VALUE: 3 I've tried searching all the zope sites and haven't found anything that works. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! ***************************** Colyn Brown Web Producer Phoenix New Times

Filtering Content
by Jeff Ross 08 Apr '02

08 Apr '02

I am looking for a way to filter out <IMG> tags from a Zope site. I'm using Zope 2.5.0 + CMF + CMFWiki. I have managed to modify the render routine of CMFWikiPage, but the request argument is empty, so I can't check to see if a cookie has been set. What I want to do is examine a cookie called TextOnly. If the value is 1, then the filter will replace all the Image tags with the ALT text. Otherwise, the filter will not be called. As the code stands now, it's only modifying the contents of CMFWiki pages, leaving the outer framework of the site intact. What I want is to replace ALL image tags, so I need to get at something higher-level, like the entire HTML text just before it gets sent back to the browser. Jeff
