re: error message importing zope file

I was away on a trip and using my laptop to work on a project. (by the way, traveling on Amtrak was great: they have a couple of seats in each car near an electric outlet and I was able to work for hours, with no distractions - i.e., no telephone, no pager, no tv - and got a lot of work done learning Zope.) I created a few pages of a site for a client, and tried to export it from the laptop to my desktop system for eventual transfer to the client's web server. However, the import isn't working. I know I have the file in the import directory on my office server (running SuSE 7.0, Zope version 2.4.1) and using a workstation with SuSE 7.2 to connect throught the Konquerer browser. The laptop is running SuSE 7.3 with Zope version 2.4.0. The error message I keep getting when I try to import the file through the Zope interface is: Error Type: UnpicklingError Error Value: invalid load key, 'ö'. I don't want to redo the work, so can anyone tell me why the import isn't working? Thanks, Mark

DTML Question
by Matt Gregory 01 Apr '02

In a namespace like: mysite |_images |_mytemplate |_myportal How do I access images from myportal with a <dtml-var> ? I cannot find a help reference for this action and <dtml-var /mysite/images> does not work and neither does any other combination I can find. Do I need to do this with a python expression?

RE: [Zope] FIND AND REPLACE

If you use Windows or have access to a Windows machine, go to www.macromedia.com and get the trial version of HomeSite5. Full product tryout for 30 days. Setup an FTP connection to your Zope, port 8021, and use the Find and Replace feature. Works great. Be glad to help offline if you need a quick pointer. Its pretty straightforward, though. Good luck! If your picture is called mypic.gif, which means it has an extension named "gif", separated by a dot, this will not work. <dtml-var "mysite.images.mypic.gif.tag()"> Zope will tell you that mypic has no attribute named "gif". But this will work: <dtml-var "mysite.images['mypic.gif']"> or even <dtml-var "mysite.images['mypic.gif'].tag()"> The results are the same. CVSFile - can´t update file in sandbox
by Oliver Skiebe 01 Apr '02

01 Apr '02

hi there, i am running CVSFile 0.7 on Zope 2.5.0; when i try to update a checked out file in the sandbox with a local file (i.e. upload that file), zope keeps telling ma "... Invalid request The parameter, externalfile_content, was omitted from the request...." This only happens when uploading binary files - e.g. Images -, text files work just normal. Creating new binary files and committing them to cvs works as well... Any suggestions out there? - Thank you! - Oliver _____ To understand recursion, we first have to understand recursion.

possible bug in zope 2.4.0/2.4.3 or 2.5.x
by Ollas, Marcus 31 Mar '02

Dear sirs, i'm a software developer from germany and actually writing a web-based application. This application is based on zope, because in my opinion zope is perfect for this. I've developed this application as a python based product, the first version written in dtml was too slow. Everything has worked fine, till I wanted to develop a new feature. In my application I'm using a server-based sessions-management, which stores my object instances in a sessions-directory, which itself is stored in the ZODB. Now one of these objects has a dictionary, which stores multiple subobjects, for example the main object is a company, which has subobjects representing contact-persons in this company. Now I've written functions, which allow the user to add/change and remove contact-persons for a company. To let this work, the companies object with all the subobject is stored in the ZODB. Now the problem is, that zope seems to forget the contents of the dictionary. You can add, remove and change the subobjects, but suddenly the dictionary contains only that subobjects, which where in at the beginning. Example: The companies instance is stored into a ZODB Folder with the id "Company10". Now this instance has a property "contacts", which has a directory named "__items__". The contacts itself are represented by another object, which instances are stored in contacts.__items__. So if you call Company10, there are 3 contacts saved into __items__. Company10.contacts.__items__{1:Contact Instance at ..., 2:Contact Instance at..., 3:Contact Instance at ...} You can now add, remove and change the contacts for the company, but suddenly all changes made for the __items__ dictionary are lost. Maybe you've deleted all of the initial instances, and added two new contacts, your changes disappear and the dictionary contains only the initial three contacts. I couldn't find out, why or when this is happening. BUT: if I start the zope server in debug mode, everything is working fine ! I started the development with zope 2.4.0, but even the update to 2.4.3 doesn't solved the problem. I've read all the changes made since 2.4.0 to 2.5.0, but I couldn't find an entry matching my problem. I then thought to pickle the objects myself and save them to the linux filesystem. But it's not possible to pickle my objects, cause there are references to the zope ZODB and the REQUEST object, which is obviously not pickable. Do you know how to solve this problem ? I don't know, what to do else. In general, the whole application is based on the mechanism, storing objects and subobjects into the ZODB, cause HTTP is a connection-less protocol. Thanks for your help in forward. I am reasonably confident that this is true. The following code runs successfully inside SciTE. def getCount ( ): from urllib import urlopen, quote from string import find searchFor = 'Cobol' arg = r'http://jobsearch.monster.ca/jobsearch.asp?brd=1&cy=CA&lid=236&fn=6&fn=546&f…' % ( quote ( searchFor), ) result = arg try: page = urlopen ( arg ) result += '<br/>%s: ' % searchFor for line in page.readlines(): loc = find ( line, "Jobs 1 to " ) if loc != -1: loc2 = find ( line, " of " ) loc3 = find ( line, "</B>", loc2 ) result += line [ loc2 + 4 : loc3 ] return result result += 'None found' except Exception, msg: result += '<br/>' + str ( msg ) return result if __name__ == "__main__": print getCount ( ) If I upload this into an External Method with function name "getCount" and then click on the 'Test' tab I get the following: http://jobsearch.monster.ca/jobsearch.asp?brd=1&cy=CA&lid=236&fn=6&fn=546&f…<br/>[Errno socket error] (10061, 'Connection refused') Would appreciate any more thoughts you might have.
