I've finished developing a Zope site on an internal development server. I need to move it to the live server. Is there a product or method that will allow me do do this cleanly? *** Douglas Perry "Don't be whiny or I'll have to get medieval on your hiney". -- Weird Al Yankovic

Forbidden Variable Names
by Roger Erens 29 Mar '02

Hi Bing, > Dear all: > > A bug in Z SQL method wasted my whole precious morning! Write That's what bugs are supposed to do, if not wasting whole precious days! > replaced argument name "client" to "clientname" , then > everything is fine. > > Woo, but WHY???? what's inside this? I didn't read this at > anywhere. Is > there still more like this ahead? Apparently "client" is something like a reserved variable/keyword, and you'd better not use these words for your own variables. Same case for "id" and probably many more variable names. It would be nice indeed to have a list somewhere on zope.org or in the book with 'forbidden variable names'. (Debugger: Aiieeee! "client" is an FVN!) Enjoy the remaining of your afternoon, Roger

dtml and paths
by Colin Fox 29 Mar '02

29 Mar '02

Hi, everyone. I've got an images directory in my root, and different directories within it (top, mainbody) for organizing my images. I'd really like to reference them like this (from my root folder): <dtml-var name="images/top/logo_png"> but apparently I can't use / in a name. So how exactly do I reference these images? I can do this: <IMG src="&dtml-URL1;/images/top/logo_png"> but that seems kind of hacky, considering the DTML system is supposed to inherently know how to deal with images. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! -- Colin Fox cfox(a)crystalcherry.com CF Consulting Inc. GPG Fingerprint: D8F0 84E7 E7CC 5C6C 9982 F1A7 A3EB 6EA3 BC97 572F

Limiting Product use
by Christopher N. Deckard 29 Mar '02

We have a custom User Folder Product that we don't want our users to be able to create new instances of. How do I make the Product not show up to anyone unless they have Manager roles in the root? I can set the security permissions to not allow them to create it, but it still shows up in the security tab and users could just add it. Name error cookie check
by Nico de Boer 29 Mar '02

29 Mar '02

Hai all, I'm having a problem with a site. I want to check for user agent, and if the visitor uses MSIE, Netscape or Mozilla set a cookie 'showflash'. This is for the flash site. The other user agents have to go to the html-site. This is my code: <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('ua',HTTP_USER_AGENT)"> <dtml-if "(_.string.find(ua,'Mozilla')<0 and _.string.find(ua,'Netscape')<0 and _.string.find(ua,'MSIE')<0) or showflash"> <dtml-var standard_html_header><dtml-var main><dtml-var standard_html_footer> <dtml-else> <dtml-call "RESPONSE.setCookie('showflash','true',path='/')"> <dtml-call "RESPONSE.redirect('/flash/')"> </dtml-if> But the first time someone visits the site, there is no cookie set. So I get a name error. Can anyone solve my problem? Thanks! Greetz Nico

Can't remember how I found this the other night on irc, but I think the last part of http://www.zope.org/Members/Caseman/ZCatalog_for_2.3?pp=1 (Lazy Concatenation) is what you're looking for. -- Mike Renfro / R&D Engineer, Center for Manufacturing Research, 931 372-3601 / Tennessee Technological University -- renfro(a)tntech.edu

Searching Multiple Fields in ZCatalog
by abg＠comco-inc.com 29 Mar '02

29 Mar '02

I'm sure this has been covered, but I can't find an answer. I need to perform a search across three different fields in my zcatalog. Currently, the only way I can see to do this is with three distinct form fields. I wish to have my users enter their query in only one form field, and still search each of the three zcatalog indices. Any suggestions? Thanks, Aaron
