Documentation tool
by Craig L. Ching 29 Mar '02

Hi all, Does anyone know if a tool based on zope exists that would let me manage online documentation interactively? Basically what I'm looking for is a package that allows me to post a table of contents and the whole set of documentation (these would be architecture and design documents for our products). I'd like the ability to add comments at the bottom of the page like some of the web-sites I've seen (I'm sure that zope has an example somewhere, but I'm thinking of something like http://www.zend.com/zend/art/intro.php) I don't need a doc generator from the code, but that would be a plus. I'd like to be able to post our architecture and design documents on-line so that developers can browse it and use it as a resource and add comments so that changes to the design can be captured here. Complete, interactive, design documents is basically what I'm looking for. Does such a thing exist? Or is there something that gets me part of the way there? Cheers, Craig -- Craig L. [HELP] CookId and FTP upload problem
by Frdric LEMAITRE 29 Mar '02

29 Mar '02

Hello, Like many others, in order to let user publish content without taking care of the "Id", i use a method "cookId" in order to generate a valid object's id from a "Title". Exemple : When an user upload the file "Frd Reunion.doc" "cookId" generates the id : "FredReunion.doc" ==> Ok. It's work fine, but i got a problem with FTP acces when an user "drag and drop" a folder named "Fred Folder" and it's content. The FTP log is : MKD "Fred Folder" CWD "Fred Folder" ==> 550 No such directory. Cause the "Fred Folder" doesn't exist, it's "FredFolder". So, the content of the folder is not uploaded. I found in the file "\Zope\ZServer\FTPServer.py", the method : def cmd_cwd (self, line): 'change working directory' response=make_response(self, self.cwd_completion, self._join_paths(self.path,line[1])) request=FTPRequest(line[1],'CWD',self,response) handle(self.module, request, response) Can anybody help me, is there a way to patch this method ? Something like "line = cookId(line)" doesn't seem to work. Any idea ? Thanks in advance. P.S : Excuse my english Fred. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! webdav 500 Internal Server Error
by kosh＠aesaeion.com 29 Mar '02

I am having a problem with webdav and getting that error. I do a cd into a regular zope folder that has about 5 objects that I have written as python products and all inherit from ObjectManager however while I can cd into that folder containing them if I do an ls I get a 500 Internal Server Error. I have enabled STUPID_LOG_FILE, debug mode etc but I don't get tracebacks anywhere so I am not sure where to look to find this problem. I am fairly sure the error is in my code somewhere but am not sure where to look. In order to make this issue more complex if I use ftp I can do an ls in the folder just fine and I can do into the objects that it contains without problems. Mostly looking for a place to start debugging. Designing and building web applications http://webme-eng.com

Newbie Question: Ordering items within a folder based on a property
by Ben Chapman 29 Mar '02

29 Mar '02

Everyone: I know that this has come up over and over on the list, I just still can't get a handle on it. If I could get some good information from the list, I would like to put together a HOW-TO on this, because I think it's a common goal. I have folders that contain folders and other objects. I want to build a menu along the lefthand-side that shows all the folders with an attribute 'publish' defined, and, we'll show their 'nickname' or 'displayname' properties in place of 'title_or_id' if those are defined. So far, this is easy. However, we also want to arbitrarily sort the folders and while the below code works, it doesn't do exactly what I want. We define an integer property 'sort_value', then sort based on sort_value and alternatively title_or_id. This works, sort of: id sort_value Folder1 (100) Folder2 (200) Folder3 (300) FolderA (not defined) FolderB (1) FolderC (2) The folders in Folder3 will be sorted as FolderB (1) FolderC (2) FolderA (300) <--- inherited from Folder3 above. This is not awful, but I know it's not the right way to do things. How can I improve it? Thanks to everyone involved with Zope! Sorry to be so dense, Ben Chapman --- START SAMPLE CODE --- <dtml-comment> Menu builder version one. This is confusing. Even though I tell it to build this list from the objectValues in the current folder (PARENTS[0]), it still inherits sort_value from above when it's doing a sort. I'm not sure how to turn off sort_value. I'm not sure how this would affect us very often, but it is still less than ideal. BJC 03/26/2002 </dtml-comment> <dtml-in expr="PARENTS[0].objectValues(['Folder','TUFolder','Photo Folder','TULawPerson','Squishdot Site'])" sort="sort_value,title_or_id" skip_unauthorized > <dtml-if publish> <p><a class="menu" href="&dtml-absolute_url;" title="&dtml-sort_value;"> <dtml-if "hasProperty('nickname')"> <dtml-var nickname> <dtml-elif "hasProperty('displayname')"> <dtml-var displayname> <dtml-else> <dtml-var title_or_id> </dtml-if nickname> </a></p> </dtml-if publish> </dtml-in folder tufolder photofolder> --- END CODE SEGMENT --- -- Benjamin J. dtml-in and objectValues...
by Lars Heber 29 Mar '02

29 Mar '02

Hello list, I couldn't find a solution on the list, although there are many postings with the same subject... So here it is: I want to build my own list of sub-objects of a folder in order to sort some of them out of my list. What I'm doing is (in a DTML method!): [snip...] <dtml-in "objectValues(['News-Item'])"> <dtml-if someCondition><dtml-call "myList.append(_['sequence-item'])"></dtml-if> </dtml-in> What I get is a list of the RENDERED News-Items. But I want a list of the objects itselves. When I do: <dtml-in "objectValues(['Folder'])"> <dtml-if someCondition><dtml-call "myList.append(_['sequence-item'])"></dtml-if> </dtml-in> I get this list of objects because a folder isn't renderable. What do I have to do to get a list of the News-Item objects? Thank you very much for your suggestions! -- Lars Heber, mailto:Lars.Heber@t-systems.com T-Systems, debis Systemhaus GEI GmbH, Geschaeftsstelle Sachsen
