Hi, I'm fairly new to zope and my searches for information on my question has come up fairly empty handed. We are running zope for some university professors to put their course notes and other course related materials online. Some of the professors wish to have their content only viewable if the student logs in (not the way the professor logs in to update/add content). I know this is easy enough to do with a perl script or something like that, but I was just curious if zope had a way to do it as well. Thanks Sohaila

Filter HTML - ZCatalog Indexing

I'm trying to filter HTML tags and other code from my Catalog when searching in my ZOPE sites. I have reviewed and tried both operations from the below listed links: http://www.dieter.handshake.de/pyprojects/zope/CatalogSupport.html http://zope.nipltd.com/public/lists/zope-archive.nsf/47ba74c812dbc5dd802568… Can anyone tell me or reference a new Catalog as stated: "version of the Catalog on it's way which will allow you to put keywords or charaters in a special place that will include them" Can anyone tell me of a coded workaround or implementation. Help on hardware configuration for high traffic site

Hello, please help me out here. We have a site with the following characteristics: - Zope 2.5.0, Python 2.1.2, Linux 2.4.7 - Heavily dynamic content, mostly using ZPT with python scripts, Python products and Zcatalog (65,000 documents with a full text index). No SQL databases. - 500,000 hits daily average, 45,000 pageviews, peaks at 40-50 requests per second. - We have Squid in front, but since the site will have user accounts, many pages which display user specific information cannot be cached. Currently the site is running on a single PC with 1GB RAM and two processors. It is doing fine with Squid at the front, but the thing is we are about to enable the user account features and don't think the performance will be adequate. We are thinking of adding another machine or two behind a switch and use ZEO to handle Zope calls. Any recommendations or ideas on how to do this (or not) and what kind of machines to use will be very appreciated. Thanks a lot, Carlos de la Guardia Aldea Systems

I know it add complexity, but it seems prudent to rely on the knowledge and well understand code behind apache to use it as a front end http server for zope (that, along with keeping the ssl certs and setup in one place). I am wondering how many are using apache with zope -- guessing that the connection is the fastcgi-mod -- But if there are other methods I'm interested as well. Strange thing with old zope instance...

Hi, This is weird. I'm looking in an 'old' created zope site. It is running on Zope 2.4.1 . The strange thing is that I can't find 2 product objects in the object list, while when I go to the product list page, they are shown as correct installed products and the site is using these products without a problem, but I'm not able to add new objects of these types, since I can't find them in the object list. Somebody an idea what can be wrong? Where I can look for? Tom.

DTML within DTML?

I'm trying to set up a dynamic redirect, and I can't figure out the syntax. Given there's a variable called 'record_id', and I have a page called 'edit' which takes a parameter called 'r_id', here's the redirect statement I'd like to use: <dtml-call expr="RESPONSE.redirect('edit?r_id=record_id')"> I need the record_id field to be evaluated, but the rest to be used literally. Content Management Solution

Dear Zope Users, Developers and Zope Support, Let me introduce myself first. I am Raj, webmaster for International Water Management Institute (IWMI) . We are in the process of automating our workflow and document flow for our website and intranet. The solution is a Content management server. We are an International Scientific Research Organization ( Non Governmental Org ) researching on Water Management issues. I have extensively studied a couple of content management servers and at last shortlisted two. One is Zope and the other one is Interwoven's Teamsite. Interwoven's team site boasts of a hybrid system that is both data-base driven and static document content. But as far as I have studied if I am not mistaken Zope doesnt support a hybrid solution. Its only database driven. We have already build the website up and running ( www.iwmi.org) and in the process of building our intranet. The website consists of about 6,000 to 7,000 html pages. So when it comes to migration issues to Zope, does Zope support these static documents as it is ? And does Zope support XML templating ? And does Zope support file management concepts ? And can we use Zope with Adobe Framemaker ? Other than these 4 issues I am completely satisfied with the product. Please clarify as soon as possible.
