AW: [Zope] How to multiply an integer in DTML?? [Solution]
by Breitenreicher, Marc 20 Mar '02

20 Mar '02

I got the problem! The problem was somewhere in the variable lookup. In the document, where the multiplication took place, the variable var was overgiven by a form from another document. The multiplication worked fine, but the dtml-var expression returned the origin value as it was overgiven. So I just renamed the multiplicated one and it's done. Nevertheless thank you. > -----Ursprüngliche Nachricht----- > Von: Joel Burton [SMTP:joel@joelburton.com] > Gesendet am: Dienstag, 19. Re: [Zope] Calling ZClass Methods?

Thanks Terry, That didn't work, but it gave me a good start. The syntax worked for me was (in case anyone is looking later): <dtml-call expr="manage_addProduct['OP'].OPImage.OPImage_add(_.None, _, objectname=imageID)"> Cheers DI

Using Zope without running Zope (maybe a little silly)
by Jordan Katz 20 Mar '02

20 Mar '02

Hey, This may sound a bit idiotic, but is there a way to produce Zope webpages on one system and cleanly use to result on another without having Zope? For example, I have Zope on my system and I have used it to produce pages. I'd like to take only the necessary HTML from what I produced and use it, as if hand-written, on my webserver which is not running Zope (and isn't under my control, so I can't run Zope on it). I would like to update the pages on my system, using Zope, and then synchronize it with the server whenever changes are made. Did anyone ever do this? Is it possible? Or is it too stupid to merit a response? :) Thanks a lot, -- Jordan Katz <katz(a)underlevel.net> | Mind the gap

Re: [Zope] mixing python and DTML is hellish!
by Roy Mathew 20 Mar '02

Folks, Thanks a lot for your replies, and sorry for the delay; As usual from this list, the answers and advice I get are great! I just started a new job a couple of weeks ago - you know how that goes, so for now, Zope is relegated to the back burner. I do agree with the general idea that DTML most suitable for the outer presentation layer - and that python is best put to use in handling complex conditionals. However, the boundary is not often clear, esp to the beginner. What might help greatly is a matrix that shows how one might do something in DTML and the exact equivalent in python. For example, calling a dtml-function with arguments (from DTML and from python - that sort of thing). Has this been done? I know there are examples strewn all over the documentation, but in one place??? Roy.

trying to learn Zope and Zsql- help
by Sean Kelley 20 Mar '02

20 Mar '02

Hi I have followed a tutorial to create a zsql method, search form and a search result page. Now I want to be able to plug the search results into another page by referencing the report object for a particular match by somehow calling the zsql method and passing my search value to it. All of the things I have tried don't work so far. I am trying to call the r_search_bycountry_report object and pass it the value "United States" and have the results display in the calling page. The object is located in a subfolder called SaleBarn I am getting the error: unsliceable object <dtml-in name="SaleBarn"> <dtml-call expr="r_search_bycountry(Country='United States')"> </dtml-with> Any help would be appreciated. -- Sean

Calling ZClass Methods?
by Dianne Van Dulken 20 Mar '02

20 Mar '02

Hi, I've been trying to do this, but can't get it to work. I've got a ZClass called OPImages. Like a normal image, but with some extra fields (like alt, etc). I want to call this not from the drop down list, which works fine, but from within a form action method (there are other things being called at the same time). Can anyone explain it to me? I've tried the following: <dtml-call "OPImage_add(objectname, file, title=thetitle)"> <dtml-call "Products.OP.OPImage_add(objectname, file, title=thetitle)"> <dtml-call "ControlPanel_Products.OP.OPImage_add(objectname, file, title=thetitle)"> Plus, all of the above with expr= and all with the variables being _.getitem('x') The zope books gives the impression that the first of these should be the one that works, but I can't get it to. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Di

Formatting a string
by Beaudette, Sheree 19 Mar '02

Does anyone know of a way to format text such as adding leading zeros or spacing before or after? 9999 would equal leading zeros to 10 characters = 0000009999 1 Main St would contain spaces up to 20 characters. Is there anyway to do this in Zope?

Hi, i can not manage to add a ZSQLMethod. I tried to change a Codesnifflet i found (which works fine): <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('ts', ZopeTime())"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('Autoid',_.str(_.int(ts)))"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('item_title','mytitle')"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('item_body','mybody')"> <dtml-call "manage_addDTMLMethod(id=Autoid,title=item_title,file=item_body)"> to : <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('ts', ZopeTime())"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('Autoid',_.str(_.int(ts)))"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('item_title','mytitle')"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('connection_id','myconnection')"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('arg','personId')"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('item_body','select * from somewhere')"> <dtml-call "manage_addZSQLMethod(Autoid,item_title,connection_id,arg,item_body)"> but i cant find why it doesn't work?! Cookies and Python Scripts
by Matthew Anderson 19 Mar '02

19 Mar '02

Hi, I am experiencing cookie 'weirdness' on Zope (V 2.5.1b1)... I have two python scripts that are called from within a DTML Method. The first, py_cookie_read(foo) attempts to read an existing cookie and returns 1 if a value is present or 0 if the value is not present. The second, py_cookie_set(foo) attempts to overwrite the cookie with a new value after an action has been taken (voting in a poll). The code I use to read from the cookie is as follows: poll_cookie = context.REQUEST.cookie['poll'] And the code I use to set the cookie is as follows: context.REQUEST.RESPONSE.setCookie('poll', new_poll_cookie, expires=expiry) - where new_poll_cookie and expiry are variables set in the same script. The 'weirdness' that am I experiencing is that the cookie is rarely set and certainly never read properly. The few times that I have observed it in the REQUEST list - it has appeared under 'form' variables and 'other' variables but never 'cookie' variables. I think it may have something to do with the 'context' under which I am trying to set and read the cookies even though both scripts are called from within the same DTML Method - perhaps the cookie is only associated with individual python scripts? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated... Cheers, Matt BTW - cookies are enabled in my browser :-) -- Matthew Anderson - Web Designer - Frontier Internet Services Limited Tel: 029 20 820 019 Fax: 029 20 820 037 http://www.frontier.net.uk Statements made are at all times subject to Frontier's Terms and Conditions of Business, which are available upon request.
