Security Assertions Problem
by Laurie Nason 18 Mar '02

18 Mar '02

Hi all, I have a python script (see below) which returns a list of the parents of an object so that I can build a breadcrumbs trail across the top of my page. This works fine - except when adding an instance of any of my ZClasses using http://myserver.com/EMDB/Groups/Group_20/Project_35/Labnotebook/manage_addPr oduct/EMDB/Labnotebook_factory I get the following error message: Error type: Unauthorized Error value: Access denied for 'EM Database' because its container, /EMDB/Groups/Group_20/Project_35/Labnotebook, has no security assertions. If I try to add without the breadcrumbs in my standard html header - it works fine Can anyone help me out here? Laurie -------------------------------------------------------------------- Breadcrumbs script: breadcrumbs=[] myPARENTS = context.REQUEST.PARENTS myPARENTS.reverse() for crumb in myPARENTS: if crumb.title!='Zope': if crumb.title!='EM Database': if crumb.title!='All Groups': if hasattr(crumb,'absolute_url'): breadcrumbs.append(crumb) myPARENTS.reverse() return breadcrumbs -------------------------------------------------------------------- Laurie Nason Scientific Programmer National Center for Macromolecular Imaging Houston TX USA

[zwiki] RFC on permissions rename
by Simon Michael 18 Mar '02

18 Mar '02

RFC - do you think the upcoming renamed permissions [1] should be:: Add ZWiki Pages Add ZWiki Webs Zwiki: Add comments to wiki pages Zwiki: Change wiki page types Zwiki: Change wiki page content Zwiki: Reparent wiki pages Zwiki: Recycle wiki pages or:: Add ZWiki Pages Add ZWiki Webs Zwiki: Add a comment Zwiki: Change page type Zwiki: Edit this page Zwiki: Reparent page Zwiki: Recycle page or something else ? Changing these creates hassle for admins so I'd like to do it as infrequently as possible. Thanks, --Simon .. [1] http://zwiki.org/ReleaseNotes

[zwiki] request for testers
by Simon Michael 18 Mar '02

18 Mar '02

I just checked in:: use a 'subscribers_list' list property instead of the 'subscribers' property, and convert old instances on the fly. This needs more testing. Also update the folder's _properties so folder subscribers appear in the ZMI. I believe this is working now, but I would appreciate feedback from test pilots before next release. Here's how: As always, save a copy of your data.fs just in case. Create a couple of dummy wiki & page subscribers if you don't have any. Then restart with the latest cvs zwiki (refresh may work in this case, I'm not sure). As you visit pages you should see the same page and wiki subscribers on the subscribe form that you had before. And in the ZMI you should see a subscriber_list lines property replacing the subscribers string property, with the proper subscriber addresses listed one per line. And, in the hope of reaching the people affected: before getting this right I overwrote a couple of subscriptions on zwiki.org. If you were subscribed to a page other than GeneralDiscussion, you'll need to resubscribe. Sorry about that. Thanks, -Simon

Strange. I can do that. Are you sure, you use a record instance? I tested with the following form/action pair: test_record_form: <dtml-var standard_html_header> <h2><dtml-var title_or_id> <dtml-var document_title></h2> <form action="test_record_action"> <p> <input name="a.a:record" value="a" type="hidden"> <input name="a.b:record" value="b" type="hidden"> <input type=submit> </p> </form> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> test_record_action: <dtml-var standard_html_header> <h2><dtml-var title_or_id> <dtml-var document_title></h2> <p> <dtml-var expr="a.items()"> <dtml-var expr="a.copy()"> </p> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> I remember that your original post mentioned ":records" not ":record", then your object is a sequence of "record" objects. You need to first select a single record object (throuch subscription with integers, e.g. "o[0]") and can then use the record methods and attributes. Dieter

You should use meta_type for checking what kind of object you have. Content-type is used by files and images for storing what kind of file or image the object holds. There is a Python tutorial at www.python.org Also, many excellent books, f ex from O'Reilly Press: http://www.oreilly.com/ For meta_types and Zope stuff you have the Zope book here: http://www.zope.org/Members/michel/ZB There is also a lot of Python code on the net that you can read in order to learn Python. I need a python script that will return the first folder in the hierarchy above the current object. I have got this far, but it looks like content_type isn't the property I need. Can anyone help me out? Also, is there somewhere I can find a reference for this sort of thing so I don't have to keep posting to the list? p = context.aq_parent while p.content_type != "Folder": p = p.aq_parent return p

No. Same end would be achieved with rsync and a cron job. Either one works; I'm just a bit paranoid to use NFS for a software home on a clustered box, unless one was really confident in their NFS server cluster...that's why I thought of Intermezzo, but rsync is likely a good lighter-weight alternative even to that... Do you see any advantages in using Intermezzo over something more mundane like rsync ? It seems like there would be more to go wrong. Toby Dickenson tdickenson(a)geminidataloggers.com
