ZClasses under Zope 2.5
by Beat Zimmerli 14 Mar '02

14 Mar '02

Hi every body. I am new to Zope and I am trying to create a ZClass in order to use automatic cataloging. I am following the Zope book chapter 9 automatic cataloging. The creation of the ZClas "NewsItem" works fine, as described in the book under Zope 2.4.3 (running on NT 4). Unfortunately the same ZClass does not work under Zope 2.5.0 (Windows 2000). If I want to create a new NewsItem I get an error after having entered an id and clicked on add. Any one any suggestion? Thank you very much in advance Beat Zimmerli

hy, my question is if there exists a zope-product which implements a "news-system", e.g. a homepage for a newspaper where each day several "news" are posted and the old ones are removed ? i already searched @ zope.org but maybe i was totally blended by the amount of available zope product also the http://collector.zope.org <http://collector.zope.org> /Zope page for example is a good example what i search for. :-)) thanks in advance michael

SESSION and REQUEST variables
by Kevin Smith 14 Mar '02

14 Mar '02

I am storing a TransientObject based instance in a SESSION variable. What are my options for getting the REQUEST variable when calling methods on this instance from a page template? Looking at self.REQUEST doesn't seem to work and using 'python:obj.getData(request)' is very verbose. I would like 'obj/getData' to work, but it doesn't. Kevin Smith Kevin.Smith(a)theMorgue.org

You might find EasyPublisher interesting. It's rather a complete CMS-solution with (a integrated IE5.5/6.0 WYSIWYG-editor) than just a simple editor (it includes Zope). http://easypublisher.torped.se/english For simple editors you also have the grandfather of EasyPublisher IEMethod http://www.zope.org/Members/johanc/IEMethod/IEMethod Best Regards, Johan Carlsson torped strategi och kommunikation ab johan carlsson johanc(a)torped.se birkagatan 9 113 36 stockholm västmannagatan 67 http://www.torped.se http://easypublisher.torped.se

Subfolders in LocalFS
by Bogemans, Thierry [PRDBE] 14 Mar '02

14 Mar '02

I'm trying to get the content of a subfolder from a directory structure using LocalFS doing the following : <dtml-in expr="Pictures['subfolder1']['subfolder2']['subfolder3'].fileItems()"> <dtml-var id> </dtml-in> So far, everything looks fine... The actual problem is that I'm not able to enter a subfolder defined in a variable way. It works out fine when there is only one subfolder : <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('location','Summer')"> <dtml-in expr="Pictures[Summer].fileItems()"> <dtml-var id> </dtml-in> but what to do if we need a subfolder's subfolder ? We can try typing : <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('location','Summer/Vacation')"> <dtml-in expr="Pictures[Summer].fileItems()"> <dtml-var id> </dtml-in> to get the content of the Summer/Vacation folder... But this fails in ZOPE ! Can someone show me the light please. Thanks, Thierry

How to insert a DTML doc given its ID as a string?
by Bill Bell 14 Mar '02

14 Mar '02

Must be trivial. Can't find answer. 'thisWeeklyMain' is a Python routine that supplies the name of a DTML doc that _might_ exist in the current folder. I'd like to arrange to insert the DTML doc, if it exists, or an alternative doc, if it does not. Thanks for your help. Mozilla 0.99 is quite Ok for Zope
by Max M 14 Mar '02

14 Mar '02

Hi I have been using Mozilla 0.97+ as my primary browser on windows for about 1 1/2 month now, and I was generally pleased with the experience: I have experienced perhaps 1 or 2 crashs. I have now installed the latest build: 0.99 and it has solved nearly all the little things that bothered me in the previous version. It is in fact better than IE6.0 at running the Zope Management Interface due to the bug in IE forgetting to take the width of the scrollbar into account. And it's easier to open many many pages due to the fab tab browsing feature. It generally renders correctly too. The mail client is better than Outlook express, and I'm to stingy to pay for outlook proper ;-) I have several POP and IMAP clients running without problems. Irc is built in, which is quite convenient. It's not great though. I cannot paste multilines. Did I mention that the "Tab" browsing feature is *great* The Composer seems to be quite ok for simple editing. Is there any work happening for making it a an editor for Zope ? It might be a good simple approach instead of using the MS EditControl for such tasks. Well... just wanted to let you know. regards Max M

SiteRoot fun and games
by Graham King 14 Mar '02

14 Mar '02

I suppose this is just a bug report..... I added a SiteRoot to a Folder (one down from root) in Zope 2.5.0 and when ever I click on that Folder in "manage", all I get is this following. However if I go to ...8080:/Folder/manage_main it displays OK. And of course from THAT screen, I can't delete the SiteRoot entry. This 2.5.0 is great fun eh? So far, ZSync won't Sync, SiteRoot gives this pain, and VirtualHostMonster is being a monster too. And we go live tomorrow. I whacked in 2.5.0 real quick because the 2.4.3 site kept crashing when in QA... cheers Graham Site Error An error was encountered while publishing this resource.
