error messages

Hello, When I start up Zope on my Windows 95 system, some messages get sent to a DOS window. When there are import errors, however, I cannot always trace all of them because they are not retained in the window' s buffer. Is there an easy way to get these messages into some other file? Is there a way of increasing the window's buffer so that even if the messages are sent here, they are not quickly scrolled out? Thank you, Shilpa

Setting default view permissions on a product to deny anonymous access

Hi all :) I am developing a product (a kind of CMF site) that should refuse anonymous access by default. I would like to write some code for this product so that whenever a new instance of it is created, the 'View' permission for that instance is set to exclude the role 'Anonymous', and allow the others ('Authenticated', 'Member', 'Owner', 'Reviewer', 'Manager'). So far I have played around with manage_permissions and have got: p.manage_permission('View', ['Authenticated', 'Member', 'Manager', 'Owner', 'Reviewer'], acquire=0) Unfortunately for me, this means that after the site gets created, I am for some reason not authorised to access the object. If I set acquire=1 so that it will acquire permission settings, then I have no problems with that but unauthenticated users can also view it :( Does anybody know what the usual way of setting default permissions for a product is? I don't want to define new permissions, just change the 'view' permission. Thanks : ) Harry

Coding Help

Hi All: I've created a search form and want the results to show the paths folders actual titles that I name the. So for example this is the path: public/filelibrary/me.pdf using this code: <dtml-var "keywords.getpath(data_record_id_)"> I would like to show this (the folders titles in the path): Public Area/Document Library/ My PDF Can anybody assist me. I'm a happy Analog user http://www.analog.cx, and I heartily recommend it. I wanted to see a quick summary of the last hits on my sites, so I wrote a little utiltity in python to take a tail of the Zope logfile, summarize and print out the information. Of course I kept thinking of new features, so now you can display the results in a terminal window and set it to update regularly, you can output the results as xml, etc., etc. I display the top 10 users of the site by number of hits, so if you chose to take the last ten million lines in your logfile (i.e., the whole thing), you would see how frequently each user has hit the site. You could easily modify the source to display all of the users, rather than just the top 10. Hi, Does somebody has experience with modifying STX in such a way that it only effects some parts of the Zope Tree? ie. I'm looking for a way to make STX showing pictures (I managed that), but I want to make it so that all pictures have the same width and height (independend on the real height/width of the picture) and a link when clicked on the image so that the full image can be shown.... I've looked for all the information I could get, but unfortunately it looks like I miss some skills here. My question: is there somebody who can give me a direction, hint, .... etc? Thanks, Tom.

ProxyRequests

There was a thread about ProxyRequests and the problem you get, if you enable them in httpd.conf (ProxyRequests On). In fact, a server can be used as a public Proxy server, if you enable this. Zope server cant bind port 80

Hi, When starting Zope server on port 80 under user "zope", sever fails with message "fail to bind port 80 - dont have permissions." When running under user "root", it is ok. When trying start zope server on port 8080, everything is ok. So just cant run on port 80 because of permissions but why? Have anyone similar experience?
