Problem with DTML and strings
by Antonio Beamud Montero 13 Mar '02

13 Mar '02

Hello all: I'm trying to construct a dynamic string to get a name of an image based on the meta_type of a product... Here is the code (it must clarify what I'm saying... :-) <dtml-let nombre="_.string.join((_['meta_type'],'_img'))"> <dtml-var nombre> <img src="<dtml-var "images[nombre].absolute_url()">"> <dtml-var id> But this fails miserably... Zope says KeyError, but if a use a expression like this: <img src="<dtml-var "images['Disk_img'].absolute_url()">"> All works fine, and is the same string that 'nombre' contains What I'm doing wrong... -- Microsoft merges technologoies: Windows CE + Windows ME + Windows NT = Windows CEMENT ---- Antonio Beamud Montero Agora Systems S.A. http://www.agoratechnologies.com

Size of a variable passed by REQUEST?
by Breitenreicher, Marc 13 Mar '02

13 Mar '02

Hi, does someone know, if there's a limit, how large a variable, that should be set into the REQUEST, can be? May a variable have the size of 100 or 400 characters or unlimited? What happens, if the variable is too large? Will the rest get cut off? TIA Marc

error messages
by Shilpa Shenvi 13 Mar '02

13 Mar '02

Hello, When I start up Zope on my Windows 95 system, some messages get sent to a DOS window. When there are import errors, however, I cannot always trace all of them because they are not retained in the window' s buffer. Is there an easy way to get these messages into some other file? Is there a way of increasing the window's buffer so that even if the messages are sent here, they are not quickly scrolled out? Thank you, Shilpa

Setting default view permissions on a product to deny anonymous access
by Harry Wilkinson 13 Mar '02

13 Mar '02

Hi all :) I am developing a product (a kind of CMF site) that should refuse anonymous access by default. I would like to write some code for this product so that whenever a new instance of it is created, the 'View' permission for that instance is set to exclude the role 'Anonymous', and allow the others ('Authenticated', 'Member', 'Owner', 'Reviewer', 'Manager'). So far I have played around with manage_permissions and have got: p.manage_permission('View', ['Authenticated', 'Member', 'Manager', 'Owner', 'Reviewer'], acquire=0) Unfortunately for me, this means that after the site gets created, I am for some reason not authorised to access the object. If I set acquire=1 so that it will acquire permission settings, then I have no problems with that but unauthenticated users can also view it :( Does anybody know what the usual way of setting default permissions for a product is? I don't want to define new permissions, just change the 'view' permission. Thanks : ) Harry

It is horribly buggy and is known to have problems with the Zope Mgmt Interface. If you must use IE, try 5.5. But Opera is really very nice. Wade Leftwich Ithaca, NY

Re: [Zope] STATISTIC] Is there a way to have statistic of a Zope
by Howard Hansen 13 Mar '02

I'm a happy Analog user http://www.analog.cx, and I heartily recommend it. I wanted to see a quick summary of the last hits on my sites, so I wrote a little utiltity in python to take a tail of the Zope logfile, summarize and print out the information. Of course I kept thinking of new features, so now you can display the results in a terminal window and set it to update regularly, you can output the results as xml, etc., etc. I display the top 10 users of the site by number of hits, so if you chose to take the last ten million lines in your logfile (i.e., the whole thing), you would see how frequently each user has hit the site. You could easily modify the source to display all of the users, rather than just the top 10. You can find more detailed information at: http://www.zope.org/Members/howardhansen/logwatch Hope this helps Howard Hansen http://howard.editthispage.com ----- Original Message ----- > Subject: > site use ? > From: > To: =?US-ASCII?Q?Fr=8Ed= > Cc: zope(a)zope.org > Date: 13 Mar 2002 10:47:25 +0000 > > On Wed, 2002-03-13 at 10:18, =?US-ASCII?Q?Fr=8Ed=8Eric?= Lemaitre wrote: > > Hello, > > A have my Intranet Zope production site since few days (GREAT !!!). > > > > I would like to know if there is a way (without manualy analyse the > > access log) to know : > > - How many users have been authentified since the site is on-line ? > > - How many times a page has been seen ? > > - The top visited pages ? > > - Statistic of when, how much, etc.. users use the site ? > > > > In fact, is there a Zope functionnality to do something like that > > whithout using an other software (like Webtrend) ? > > No. You could try Analog or Webalizer as Free alternatives to > Webtrends. > > Seb

Hi, Does somebody has experience with modifying STX in such a way that it only effects some parts of the Zope Tree? ie. I'm looking for a way to make STX showing pictures (I managed that), but I want to make it so that all pictures have the same width and height (independend on the real height/width of the picture) and a link when clicked on the image so that the full image can be shown.... I've looked for all the information I could get, but unfortunately it looks like I miss some skills here. My question: is there somebody who can give me a direction, hint, .... etc? Thanks, Tom.

ProxyRequests
by Stephan Goeldi 13 Mar '02

13 Mar '02

There was a thread about ProxyRequests and the problem you get, if you enable them in httpd.conf (ProxyRequests On). In fact, a server can be used as a public Proxy server, if you enable this. I think, if this is really true, it is bad, that it is suggested in at least 2 Howto's on Zope.org: http://www.zope.org/Members/rbeer/caching http://www.zope.org/Members/Jace/apache-vhm Greetings Stephan --- Swiss Quality Zopehosting.ch --- http://www.zopehosting.ch web(a)goeldi.com Tel +41-61-7330555 Fax +41-61-7330556 _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com
